East Coast Classics i have one this exact same year and color except mine was never put in service(currently at 75K mi) and i have carpet instead of the rubber.the previous owner(who bought it new in 2008) added clear strobes,an amber light bar on the back lid,a bull bar and a police scanner
Sir!! I just subscribed to your channel I'm moving to the Dallas Fort worth texas area do u have any suggestions on to as me finding a crown vic Craigslist Auctions?
People love Crown Vics, particularly the Interceptor, because it’s so honest. It represents a kind of car simply not made anymore. The stripped down sedan, dedicated to being strong, solid, and dependable transportation with a lot of room... By the way, it looks fabulous in that shade of blue.
@@nicksoloroblox6865 - Ford discontinued the Crown Vic for one basic reason, "Fuel Economy." Actually, they got pretty good gas mileage for what they are, at least the civilian versions did, but still, they got nowhere near what cars like the Taurus gets.
@@randystegemann9990 Actually the cruisers we had got fair mpg. Early 90's one I had got 19 mpg. The later models seemed to do rather well also, not 25 to 30 but good. Some of the 4.6 liters here had problems running lean. Burning internal engine parts.
@@kentuckywindage222 I don't think that's too bad, but it probably brings down the average mpg of their cars too much when the government wants carmakers to increase the average mpg of all their cars.
I bought a COMMERCIAL STANDARD 2011 Crown Vic with 33,500 miles----Leather etc in Black from Hertz-Rentals ----for a dirt cheap price------I have NO complaints at all-------The x-cop ones have very high mileage; of course--------The damn thing will outlast me......Hertz would sell them off when they are 2 years old------
Bought a 2011 from the Adjutant General's CA National Guard Office in Sacramento-----Leather etc and all the bells and whistles; including premium rims-----Black in color------ 33.000 miles------law-enforcement type--Special premium; interior Special order everything etc......package .........I used to work for the 2-star General-------He knew that I was looking around for a CV and he gave me an inside trak on how to purchase his ........The CA AG got a new CV every two years-----Right time---Right place.........One in a million shot----I still have it and it is perfect.........The AG had 2 of these Special Order CV's------
@@fordnut4914 Sorry to break it to you. But no. Ford is canceling every car they are making by 2020. The last Taurus rolled off in February. They stopped making the Focus last year. Every car but the Mustang will stop being produced. They will just make SUVs, trucks, and Crossovers.
it's like the last REAL car on the road, a long time ago all cars were built like this, full size, RWD, body on frame, standard v8, chrome center caps and steel wheels. There is something so nostalgic, so comfortably classic, this might be the most American car made in the last 20 years. (yes I know I keep coming back to the video, I just love this channel)
Transportation Specialist ( Film/TV) here. 40 years, under my belt. Launched cars off of cliffs. Blown up many. Chase scenes etc. The 'Vic' is sick! Thanks for this. Brings back memories.
Was assigned a 2011 P7b black. It arrived at the command in 2013 w 300 miles on it cause it sat for 2 years before it went to work. I drove it everyday doing radar from 2014-2018 until it got condemned. I knew where they went at auction. Tracked it down and bought it for a few thousand after getting into a bidding war with some knucklehead. She now sits in my driveway with only 72k. I Restored it, Got it repainted , new suspension work and a few other things. Wish I could post pictures but it truly is hysterical when people see it and say wow is that an old cop car. I say yep it was assigned to me I drove it, I worked in it and now I own it forever. I have a few other cars 89 box caprice and a 70 Chevelle but driving my old Vic is pretty cool knowing I did a lot of speeds and made a lot of dwi arrests in that thing. Cars today at work suck the Vic was the best car I ever drove. Comfortable, dependable , and a tank. I’ll never get rid of it. Great car.
Out car shopping 6 years ago wanted to take a test ride in a pi71 2007 just for the heck of it. Couldn't stop smiling. Never felt something so smooth and solid. Been a reliable car for me and my kids ever since. Great video. Thanks!
Fun story. Back in the day, I was a production assistant for one of the Hollywood studios. My favorite part of post was actually the Foley recording - all those _background_ noises that aren't actual dialog or main sound effects. Anyway, got talking to one of the recordists, and he mentioned that the Crown Vic was the best car-door slammer, soundwise. The latch has that nice, high-frequency *_snick_* sound, while the honest-to-god steel door shell.gave it the perfect, solid *_chunk_* sound. Turns out, _everybody_ used it, back in the Eighties and Nineties! So, next time you're sitting in a theater, and hear that big, chunky *_tha-chunk_* car door, thank the lowly Crown Vic! 😊
I became a police officer in 2015 and my first patrol car was a 2011 Vic, only had 45,000 miles on it! It sat in the corner of the lot and nobody drove it since they got a new line of SUV's. Once I charged the battery I drove it every day I worked, and I ran the living piss out of it being the traffic unit. That car was put through hell in pursuits, going WOT after cars, idling constantly, getting puked on by drunks, but it never bitched about it. It was retired and taken out of service in 2017 with 126,000 miles on it and was sold for $2,500. For all the times I trusted my life with that car I cried a bit when I saw it at the city shop with no decals or light bar. Amazing cars they are.
My 1991 lasted 760,000 miles with one transmission repair for 300 dollars. It left me stranded only one time. I bought it at 100,000 miles for 1500 dollars. Probably the best car I had ever owned. Totally reliable hot or cold and rain or snow.
@@Buckarooskiczek its a model made before catalytic converters so it will run good on regular... so whata ya say... is it the new blues mobile or what? Fix the cigarette lighter...
Agree on the sound of the doors when they shut, nice and tight and you don't even have to shut it hard really does tell a lot about the quality of the overall build!!!👍✌
There are no truer words spoken! Driving these Vic's has been a whole lot of fun. Probably the most fun extra car I've ever had! Thanks for watching and for your comment too. -Chris
I bought a 2005 p71 recently and I absolutely love it. Tough, reliable, and really gets up and goes. I also love the sound of those doors. Excellent vehicle way undervalued. Thanks for this video.
Your enthusiasm is infectious. Thanks for posting your videos, I gotta get one of these. Those stab-proof seat backs will come in handy when I am hauling the grand kids around!
You forgot how unbelievably reliable they are. I have 467,231 original miles on my 98 . Still runs strong and just passed Calif emissions with flying colors
agreed. i got my 2008 with 128,000 and figured id send it off to the scrap yard after a year. im at 200,000 2 years later and have not replaced a single part. i plan on keeping it until it starts costing me money to fix, but i see no sign of that happending any time soon.
I drove these into the ground : '76 Crown Vic ex-state cop car, '83 and '85 Grand Marquis, '83 Crown Vic. and would buy any of them again. Favorite was the cop car with the 460, step on it and it sounded like a huge vacuum cleaner, no engine clatter at all, just WHOOSH ! and they were all smooth as your sofa going down the highway. Now I have a '01 V10 Excursion to keep me happy, and I will never let that one go. Great review !
I was a service Mgr. at a Ford dealer. We did work on the local P.D's Fords. We ran a computer check on one once and it shower the car at one time it hit 141.:):):)
I don't care what anyone says, the Crown Victoria was, AND IS A great fucking American car. I was a cab driver in Southern California for 11 years, and what did I drive the whole time?? You guessed it, yours truly a 1999 Crown Victoria, and that was the one I put over a million miles into. I drove others that were in our yard, while mine was in the shop for its monthly oil change. I drove an average of 200 miles a day, 6, 7 days a week. Omg, what a tank!! NOT one time can I remember it dying on me, it never broke down. My partner and I would drive the living shit out of that car, never let us down. It also has balls, terrible on gas, but, for what it was made for....DRIVING!! I'd drive one today, no probs!!👍💯
Jason, great to hear from ya. Thanks so much for the comment and for watching my little videos over the past year and one-half. I really do appreciate you watching and participating. I also hope you continue to enjoy what I do and and if you have anything you'd like to see in the future, please let me know. -Chris
I just converted my p71 to 5 speed.. just when i thoughtI couldn't love my car moreI did that swap and it turned my car into a completely different beast. Nice video, I like seeing people show love for the crown vic
I love my Vic,I drove a cab for 15years all crown vics x cop cars.they are the best cars on the road! they are comtable great handling best radio , I don't want anything else!
The Crown Victorias sold for retail use did have electronic instrumentation, dual leather split bench seats, electronic climate controls , power sunroof availability between 2003 and 2008. The early 92 models were available with 12 disc trunk mounted CD players, Insta clear windshields and power recliners.
As a Ford Truck driver I delivered hundreds of loads of parts to that plant and I remember watching the new cars being rolled out to the parking lot and the teams of technicians from many different police forces from across North America checking out the new Crown Vics. It was great !
I've wanted one of these for ages. The used police vehicle market has been flooded with Dodge Chargers, Ford Explorers and various Chevrolet SUVs, but the Crown Vic is still my favorite.👍
There’s a 2009 on Craigslist near where I live in NYS, trooper blue just like yours, with a push bar and 2 spot lights. 130k, just had a transmission rebuild and overall tune up, guy is asking $2,400, and I couldn’t believe they went for that cheap. I hopped on RUclips and looked them up, this video came up first and I’m super happy I watched it. GREAT info man! Thank you!
Hey man, thanks so much for checking out my video and it's super cool that you found an '09 Vic. And $2400 is a real nice price too as long as it all checks out good too. If you're on Facebook, there's a group called "Crown Victoria P71". Something like 26K members and lots of folks willing to help and give guidance on whatever may come up.
Rallock I live in nys and might be selling mine too 😉 it’s not the same color or year but it’s pretty nice! It’s a 2004, with only 117k and was originally from Virginia so there is no rust on the body at all!!
Ken m: They really must be black for the full sinister effect the video mentioned they have on other drivers. I noticed that the best effect is missing - the Police Interceptor badge that they have on the left rear. Is that illegal for a civilian to have? Please respond.
Thanks for sharing and thanks for checking out my video too. These Vic's are gems and you're right about being spacious and I especially like how they ride. Firm but not stiff and they handle well for their size too. Thanks again! -Chris
Very comprehensive and truthful review of one of the best of the last full size body-on-frame, rear wheel drive V-8 American sedans. I've owned my 2000 Mercury Marquis for over 10 years and it has a permanent spot beside my 1966 old-school B & M Supercharged Chevy C-10 that I've owned for 35 years. Basically the Mercury is the same car just built slightly lighter-duty, with a few less H.P and more "bling." I wanted a Ford police car but could not pass up the deal I got on the Mercury. Other than the cold-air intake that I needed to replace with a after market unit because the plastic square box with metal clips that held the air-filter was warped and very difficult to find un-warped I've had absolutely no issues or repairs. It's a wonderful driving car and gets unusually good gas mileage also. On three carefully documented long drives [ non-mountainous ] The car consistently achieved 25-26 MPG. using the cruise control set at 68 MPH. It's a keeper for sure. Thanks again for the Video ! Phil M.
Yes Mr you are telling the truth, this car is the greatest car in this world, crown vic, grand marquis, and Lincoln town car. I REALLY LOVE THOSE CARS,
Me too! Its an 04. Soon after I bought it I found the reason it was sold the damn intake failed. I'm 65 years old worked on cars all my life and it looked very daunting but I took it on anyway. I would work on it for about 3 hours each day as thats all my back could take cause its all hanging over the fenders and after 4 days got it done. I bought the Ford Racing manifold. Holy shit what a difference it made. It made a shitty running car into a perfect running car with balls. Pulls really hard now. Runs perfect. I have owned 2 Vics and one GMQ. Love this platform. After you sort it out it is a perfect running car.
I picked up a 07 Lincoln Town Car. I love this thing! Bought it off an older person who garaged it, maintained it and polished it. I love the Panther platform. Thanks for your videos, I always enjoy them.! Always excellent!
Gary, thanks so much! I enjoy your channel and I've seen your sub count double over the past few months. Congrats. And... thanks for checking out my video. I really appreciate you commenting. -Chris
I had a 05. Got creamed head on and could've driven forever if I didn't need headlights. Other guy undriveable. Found the best one I could to replace it. 2011 immaculate inside and out with 53,000 miles on it. Just did a full paint restoration and she looks brand new! Put some nice sounding exhaust on, K&N, and gomma drop it a couple inches. I love my Crown Vic for all the reasons you stated. Loved the Video. Thank you.
I really loved this video. I have always like the solid “thunk” of the Crown Vic doors, not to mention just how robust the vehicle is. They were built about 1.5 hours away from where I live and in high school I did a tour of the plant. It was a sad day when Ford ended production of these cars.
Hey man, thanks so much for checking out my Crown Vic video. I enjoyed making that one and so glad you liked it. It was fun to do a different kind of car review and list out those little subjective and intrinsic things that I like about the car. Thanks again! -Chris
While my current vehicular choice tends to be biased towards European vehicles, my current pride and joy is a 1990 Jetta GLI Wolfsburg Edition. My Mom bought the car brand new in 1990 and it’s a weird car....in 1990 VW never imported the Jetta GLI to Canada....we got the Jetta GTX. Our GLI is equipped with all the standard GLI features (sunroof, trip computer, power seats, power mirrors, power windows, central locking, Recaro sport seating, ski sack and spoiler). Under the hood, the car has a 1.8L Digifant II 4 cylinder powerplant and automatic transmission....features that VW never offered officially. I am in the process of restoring the car...I’ve built a new engine based on the 2.0L ABA used in later models of the Golf and Jetta. A specialized cam, higher flowing cylinder head, high flow injectors and a few other tweaks have taken this engine to producing 165 horsepower at the crank. It’s a unique car and even better that it’s been in the family since Day 1. Even better was that when I got the birth certificate from VW in Germany, it was built on my birthday....May 14.
East Coast Classics I’ll send you some pictures...I like that generation of Jetta since it looks like the box it was shipped from Germany in. They are really the last generation of simple, straightforward watercooled VW. I also have a ‘68 Beetle hat I bought from the original owner. It was only driven for 7 years before being put into storage. It has 53k miles on it and is complete...,the engine is a a seized boat anchor but for a car that spent its life in Canada, it’s solid as a rock. It even had the original sales brochure in the glovebox!
I drove for a cab company several years ago and they used Crown Vics. They’re a blast to drive. Hopefully I can find a good one before they’re all gone. I also used to own a 1983 Grand Marquis-fun times right there.
From a professional driver of 13 years I murmured that myself " let's see if he makes a clean 3 point turn" and I was surprised! He used every bit of space fully and made a clean 3 point turn!
Just bought a 2010 CVPI. This is the third vehicle I've bought and by far the cheapest and most reliable! I love how easy it is to control and how easy it is to clean, and all the awesome features it has. Mine came from Asheville NC, used for high-speed chases and they called it "zorro" and all the hell it's been run through for 180,000 miles, it still runs like it's brand new. Great cars.
I loved the 9c1 and hated the Ford after Chevy killed the Caprice. I grew to love the Vic over time and Ford kept tweaking them and making them better. Awesome car, they’ll be missed
You got a good deal on your Panther Cars. I recently purchased the Mercury Grand Marquis from a CHP officer even though it was his family car it has been a very impressive car. Recently the alternator went out but for a 2005 Mercury that happens. Wow, what a difference in the ease of replacing the alternators on the Panther Cars as opposed to my Buick Park Avenue especially when trying to put the serpentine belt back on. Having a rear wheel drive is so much easier to work on than a cross mounted engine and transmission. The engine is bigger on the Mercury a 4.6 as compared to the 3,8 engine on the Buick so the MPG is not as good as the Buick but the power and take off is incredible on the Mercury. Overall between the City and Highway driving with the cruise control on it is comparable MPG between both cars.
This is the only vehicle I bought twice. Everything he said in this video is correct. This maybe the best car ford ever created I might just go buy another.
You're awesome! Yea, be sure to get yourself another Vic soon. I'm started to feel that Crown Vic sales, at least at auctions, have peaked and the number of good cars are starting to diminish. Thanks for your comment! -Chris
You have articulated the joy of owning one these cars better than anyone - thank you. I have tried to explain my love of old cop cars to a lot of people, most just don't understand. Great video!
I worked in a grease pit many years ago and it was a quick change joint that the local police department used for getting the oil changed on their cars. I really used to admire these Crown Victoria's. Solid. Heavy Duty. I have an '85 Corvette. I wouldn't mind getting one of these Vic's to be my daily driver. My Dad had a Crown Victoria many years ago. He got disabled and had to sell it. I loved that car. I didn't know he was even selling it and found out he let it go for $500 dollars. That's Ok. I like the police version better anyway. Black on Black. Spotlight. Would make for a nice comfy 4 hour ride to NYC for me, my wife, and my dogs. Great Video.
Thanks for the comment and yea, these are the best kept secret around. I wanna keep it on the Down Low but shout it out at the same time. What State did your '08 come from? -Chris
Hey man, thanks so much for your kind words on my video. I really appreciate it. And yea, I've got another CV video planned for next week as I'm planning to be at a surplus auction here. There's plenty of Vic's there to choose from. Fingers Cross! -Chris
I lived my whole life until I was over 35 and never owned or drove one. I currently own 2 now and they are one of the greatest cars ever made. Fast and demand respect. Make a better driver. And it is a God send. All hail the crown Victoria. Thanks for the video.
I owned a 99 it was one of my favorite cars. Amazing handling but you missed mentioning the 4 link rear end with a watts linkage instead of a panhard bar. The Crown Vic handled like a sports car. My 99 also was rated higher on the skid pad than a Porsche Boxster. I was also able to fit a 275 x 18 tire on the front and a 315 x 18 tire on the back with black bullit rims and no rubbing. With those tires it stuck to the road like velcro. It is a great car. RIP😢
Purrs like a kitten. Given the right police detachment and mechanics knowledge and dedication, these Crown Vics ARE the best most solid older model vehicles that give you hours of fun and 100% reliability. Nice ride sir!!
Alright. I’ll have to confess. I own an 87 Plymouth Gran Fury that is a retired NYPD undercover from the 41st PCT. it’s got the pushbars still there, spotlight, lights behind the grille, that still wig wag, siren still works, lights and siren is for car show demonstrations only, but still, it’s very official looking, black steel rims, dog dish hubcaps, and people still don’t want to pass me. Friggen tickles me half to death
I have to tell you that I'm insanely jealous that you have a Plymouth Grand Fury cop car! That's a car that I've been casually searched for too. Each Diplomat or Grand Fury I've come across was either too beat or crazy too expensive to even consider. There was a time those cars were everywhere but finding a good one today is nearly impossible. Any chance you've got some video of her that you could share? -Chris
East Coast Classics There is just something bad ass about the M body cop cars. Even more official looking than the Vics....I feel anyway. But yes..It's really difficult to find one that is in acceptable condition. Often used in fleet use, they were pretty much used up and thrown away. There is a guy here who has a channel called Tyler's garage. He has a really pretty White Gran Fury. . ruclips.net/video/ODMhpQ1bNeQ/видео.html This one is more in depth. ruclips.net/video/B33MTjB0gOQ/видео.html
Check left of your brake pedal for a switch under the carpet. If you have it, and it's still active? That will allow you to let your P-71 run, but not go into gear. If it's there it'll feel like a bump under the carpet. (While engine is running) Depress it, listen for a beep, and it's activated. Try to put the VIC in gear. Love the color blue your's is.
I got my first CVPI back in early May. It's an '06 and even though it has that damned paint peel going on, it still a great car. Really fun to drive. He's right too...usually other drivers are much more careful and respectful around you. They also get out of the way on freeways when they see you coming up behind them. :D
They are great safe reliable cars that will last along time to come , I had about 8 of them. The last one I owned saved my daughter's life. Looking for another one. Keep up the Videos about this great car.
"No frippery..." Qualities that I love in people, as well. I avoid car videos like the plague. Pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this. Well done.
I've got a 2001 Grand Marquis GS with rag top I paid $2,500 cash from private owner with 100k miles! runs excellent, even better now!! After Upgrading to Bosch Premium Fuel Injectors, Installing TBS for +10HP on take offs.. and added a lot of customized parts, such as rear spoiler, red racing stripes, twin dual vented hood scoops, and custom K&N Ram Intake along with replacing the original worn upper control arms with Moog thicker control arms, and new wheel hubs. Replaced steering box, sway bar links, tie rod ends, heater core, thermostat, and intake manifold upgrade with aluminum housing. It now has about 114k miles... runs like a champ with about +15HP
A few years ago I bought a 2007 with 12,000 miles on it. That's right - 12,000 miles on it. It belonged to the Feds and the guy who drove it was way up the food chain, so he didn't drive it much. Dark blue like yours. It was a beast. Never drilled for overheads or antennae, they used the trunk kit for the antennae. Windows were tinted. Scared the sh*t out of folks at night - those headlights and parking lights are distinct. Sad day when I sold it. It was a lot of fun.
Totally agree on the Vic's lighting... can't miss it. Now the Chargers have an equally distinct front and rear lights... especially the rears. You can spot their racetrack pattern a half mile in front at night.
I bought a Crown Vic P71 last June and love it, my wife says I have a car romance with it. I had to replace the abs module, install external transmission cooler and drive side cat. Even with these items the total price of the car was about 2500.00 and worth every penny. I use it as daily drive to work which is 110 mile round trip, It gives good gas mileage around 22 hwy. Mine has the drive side spotlight which I have used a few times when help people on side of road. Also as you mention I get a kick of how folks will fly up behind and then quickly slow down thinking I am law enforcement. Its a great car fun to drive and not hard to work on, over all a great utility or just fun car.
Thanks for sharing that and thanks for checking out my Crown Vic video too. I always get a laugh when seeing a line of cars behind me when on the highway. Or, there are always a few folks that just gets out the way whenever I come up fast behind them. It seems to go either way. Thanks again! -Chris
I have owned a ton of them! They are incredibly versatile with modify ability. The 5.4 goes in with very little hastle AND the Coyote 5.0 out of 2012+ F150s and Mustang GTs also uses the same motor mounts!! Relatively simple swaps compared to many other platforms!!
Had a ‘98 dark dark green Mercury Grand Marquis. A friend of mine built them at the St Thomas Ontario plant and asked where I bought my car. He told me they are so hard to find because it was the only year the Grand Marquis and the Lincoln Continental were exactly the same, head to toe, except for the decals. He said my value at least doubled when I bought it. Plenty of power with the interceptor. Sports car drivers slowed right down to the speed limit whenever I approached them from behind. Many thought I was a Canadian RCMP officer. Never ever got a ticket either! Best car I ever owned !
Loved this video. I have an 08 Crown Vic interceptor P71... My family and friends think I'm crazy for loving this car so much but it is fast ,durable ,good on gas big just all around the best car ever and I am a 27 yr old female lol
Hey, thanks so much for checking out my Vic video. That's awesome that you drive a Vic too. I get the same response from folks too wondering why I love the Vic so much. Not everyone gets it! -Chris
Some people might not know this but the crown victoria was built in Ontario Canada and in September of 2011 they shipped the last crown victoria ever made to Saudi Arabia
I special-ordered my '07 Crown Vic LX with every option --- except the adjustable foot pedals. As I recall it took several months to be delivered because of a strike by the Canadian railroad. I love the car, which is garaged and has only 10,700 miles.
Great Video I picked up a 2003 in 2008, in the last 10 years I have put a 289,000 MILES on it and have spent $3,000.00 in repairs that means a avg. of $ 300.00 a year not bad.
I bought a 1988 Crown Vic in 1992. It was formally owned by the Hartford Connecticut) PD; I had to contact city hall to get a clean title, the purchasing manager told me quite a bit about buying a Crown Vic police cruiser. She said buy the OLDEST model possible at the auction; this is because it invariably was used by the police chief and had lower mileage. It was one of the best most trouble free automobiles I ever owned. You can have fun driving on the Interstate; do the speed limit in the right lane; no one will dare pass you.
Check out CHP auctions in Torrance, CA. and Wild Rose Motors in Anaheim, CA. if you are going to Ca or the Souhwest. Wild Rose recondition & sells Crown Vics & CVPI's. I would buy a Natural Gas version if I could get a dual fuel conversion kit. I have family in TN but live in SoCal and NG is very hard to find in the rural parts of the interstate.
The Crown Victorias with the ‘police package’ had race car suspension and were twice as good as the earlier cars we got. The annual EVOC training with these was fun.
Got a 99 crown Victoria LX stored in Windsor Ontario.. not too far from her maker, she turns heads and sounds great with dual flow master super 10s.. I get more compliments on its shape and appearance then any other car I’ve owned.. reliable, sturdy and keeps up with cars with much more work put under the hood!
Hey man, thanks and I'm glad there's someone else out there that finds it strangely satisfying about the sound of these doors closing. It's something I even noticed on Cops and Live PD too. That sound is so unique. -Chris
And this is why I have to pick one of these up, but it will have to wait a while. Sponge Bob was blocking the one thing I wanted to see. Great video again, I like how you pointed out the difference between the P71 and a regular CV.
Hey Pat, thanks. You know, the differences between the CV and CVPI is a constant question and there's a bunch of misnomers. I think that might have to be a future video idea. And yea, Spongebob jumped in at just that moment. I was however trying to merge onto the highway so exceeding 55 MPH was needed. Looking forward to your next truck update. -Chris
I have a 2010 CVPI and let me tell you one thing up front they are not very fast if that's what you want you arent going to like the Crown vic they are very heavy and very slow but they do make cool V8 noises and you can drift them on the right street surfaces....gravel ,dirt, wet street sleet snow or icy road...LOL!
I use to buy police cars in the 60's and 70's, I loved them. The CHP use to sell them with 77k mi on them and they were in excellent condition, the Dodges had 440 Magnum engines and they hauled ass. They also left the push bars and spotlights on them, so the driving down the freeway and people pulling over for you was cool. Good video, even though your car is in good condition, but from what I've seen, most now are in pretty bad shape. Thanks
There are lots more great Crown Vic videos on my channel. Be sure to check them out and SUBSCRIBE!
East Coast Classics i have one this exact same year and color except mine was never put in service(currently at 75K mi) and i have carpet instead of the rubber.the previous owner(who bought it new in 2008) added clear strobes,an amber light bar on the back lid,a bull bar and a police scanner
East Coast Classics I do Like to have Crown V. but it is imposible in Europe - Bosnia and Hercegovina. Now I dive Ford Mondeo Mk3 wagon
Sir!! I just subscribed to your channel I'm moving to the Dallas Fort worth texas area do u have any suggestions on to as me finding a crown vic Craigslist Auctions?
I *love* Crown Vics!!!
_They were the _*_F-15s_*_ of the Highways and Byways!!!!!_
I was looking to buy one of these vehicles I like you I love your review what year Crown Vic is this so I'll know what to look for thanks...
People love Crown Vics, particularly the Interceptor, because it’s so honest. It represents a kind of car simply not made anymore. The stripped down sedan, dedicated to being strong, solid, and dependable transportation with a lot of room... By the way, it looks fabulous in that shade of blue.
Mr. Butterworth I just don’t know why ford would do such a thing to discontinue the Crown Vic’s for some stupid

You bet Mr. Butterworth ! Bare bones badass ! ....302. ? ...or 4.7 ..?
Mr. Butterworth SAY THAT AGAIN
@Joseph Smith not sitting upright, I haven't.
@@nicksoloroblox6865 - Ford discontinued the Crown Vic for one basic reason, "Fuel Economy." Actually, they got pretty good gas mileage for what they are, at least the civilian versions did, but still, they got nowhere near what cars like the Taurus gets.
Ford should have kept these vehicles in production.
EPA regulations and issues with comfort(?) is what led to these disappearing
ford ended sedan production.. cant bring it back now
Nice cars but the gas mileage is probably too low.
@@randystegemann9990
Actually the cruisers we had got fair mpg. Early 90's one I had got 19 mpg. The later models seemed to do rather well also, not 25 to 30 but good. Some of the 4.6 liters here had problems running lean. Burning internal engine parts.
@@kentuckywindage222 I don't think that's too bad, but it probably brings down the average mpg of their cars too much when the government wants carmakers to increase the average mpg of all their cars.

it's like the last REAL car on the road, a long time ago all cars were built like this, full size, RWD, body on frame, standard v8, chrome center caps and steel wheels. There is something so nostalgic, so comfortably classic, this might be the most American car made in the last 20 years. (yes I know I keep coming back to the video, I just love this channel)
just the sound of the v8 and with the transmission during pickup is one key reason i love this
The sound of the engine is like the sound you would expect in car with 400hp.
That whir in first gear just can't be beat.

Gotta say, love the amount of love for these great cars in this video. Just a few months ago, my crown Vic saved my life on the freeway.
It's nearly impossible to find another car that is this cheap AND reliable. A true definition of a workhorse vehicle. Good job

The Crown Victorias sold for retail use did have electronic instrumentation, dual leather split bench seats, electronic climate controls , power sunroof availability between 2003 and 2008. The early 92 models were available with 12 disc trunk mounted CD players, Insta clear windshields and power recliners.
it was a sad day when Ford shut down the line in St Thomas Ontario, Canada ... yes they where built in Canada !!!

Wow man, great story with the VW. Super cool about the build date too and that it's been in the family it's whole life. Thanks for sharing that!

Yeah, they were great cars but the Chevy 9C1 would stomp it in the quarter mile and the top end wasn't even close.
@@hudsonhawk0016 agreed, 9C1 was the best......until it snowed. Then it tried to kill you 😂
You got a good deal on your Panther Cars.
-Chris

My 99 also was rated higher on the skid pad than a Porsche Boxster. I was also able to fit a 275 x 18 tire on the front and a 315 x 18 tire on the back with black bullit rims and no rubbing. With those tires it stuck to the road like velcro. It is a great car. RIP😢

-Chris
The one thing I like about it is it is a full size sedan which we dont have anymore. And it's a positrac
I have owned a ton of them! They are incredibly versatile with modify ability. The 5.4 goes in with very little hastle AND the Coyote 5.0 out of 2012+ F150s and Mustang GTs also uses the same motor mounts!! Relatively simple swaps compared to many other platforms!!
by the way, the material of the front seat is removable and washing machine safe. I would do that on mine, would come out clean and smelling fresh !
The back seat is still a HAZMAT-only zone...
5:52 for when cops are stopped on the highway shoulder for any reason and are hit from behind
@@utube4gar you can't love your car if you don't drive it
Great Video I picked up a 2003 in 2008, in the last 10 years I have put a 289,000 MILES on it and have spent $3,000.00 in repairs that means a avg. of $ 300.00 a year not bad.
I've had these cars up around 120 and they handle great at high speed
I bought a 1988 Crown Vic in 1992. It was formally owned by the Hartford Connecticut) PD; I had to contact city hall to get a clean title, the purchasing manager told me quite a bit about buying a Crown Vic police cruiser. She said buy the OLDEST model possible at the auction; this is because it invariably was used by the police chief and had lower mileage. It was one of the best most trouble free automobiles I ever owned. You can have fun driving on the Interstate; do the speed limit in the right lane; no one will dare pass you.
Couldn't help but notice the "Delaware" plates ... I'm a Delaware native.🇺🇸🤘
Believe it or not Crown Vics are actually appreciating now
I was just talking with someone on Facebook about how CVPI prices are moving up.
when I move to the states, this will be my first car !
As a Brit, I'm starting to find the Crown Vic interceptor a bit cool. Wonder if I can convince the missus that we need one...🤔
Thanks for checking out my Crown Vic video. Glad you found it and thanks for the comment too. I appreciate it! -Chris
Do you where the pants or does she.?
Well call it a family sedan.
@@fordnut4914 My wife wears the pants. I wear the trousers.
Ah, er, uh -- "where" -- Spell much !??
Got a 99 crown Victoria LX stored in Windsor Ontario.. not too far from her maker, she turns heads and sounds great with dual flow master super 10s.. I get more compliments on its shape and appearance then any other car I’ve owned.. reliable, sturdy and keeps up with cars with much more work put under the hood!
Having a good vic is like having a good woman never get tired of jumping in
The trick is finding a good one.
Great video and channel, subbed!
I'm right behind you I love the way those doors sound too lol
Hey man, thanks and I'm glad there's someone else out there that finds it strangely satisfying about the sound of these doors closing. It's something I even noticed on Cops and Live PD too. That sound is so unique. -Chris
East Coast Classics Ive had 15 of them I tried to tear them up they are indestructible I like the way the starter sounds to
still the best crown vic video on RUclips
And this is why I have to pick one of these up, but it will have to wait a while. Sponge Bob was blocking the one thing I wanted to see. Great video again, I like how you pointed out the difference between the P71 and a regular CV.
Hey Pat, thanks. You know, the differences between the CV and CVPI is a constant question and there's a bunch of misnomers. I think that might have to be a future video idea. And yea, Spongebob jumped in at just that moment. I was however trying to merge onto the highway so exceeding 55 MPH was needed. Looking forward to your next truck update. -Chris
Both are great, the CVPI is much better though. I have owned and drove both.
Specs read top end on the 4.6 Police Interceptor is 129. I never had one that would exceed 125. They are however dependable.
WTF
I use to buy police cars in the 60's and 70's, I loved them. The CHP use to sell them with 77k mi on them and they were in excellent condition, the Dodges had 440 Magnum engines and they hauled ass. They also left the push bars and spotlights on them, so the driving down the freeway and people pulling over for you was cool. Good video, even though your car is in good condition, but from what I've seen, most now are in pretty bad shape. Thanks
