    So. The movie creators won a lottery and decided that they wanted to create a movie based off the comic cause it was funny. So without telling the actual creator, the two have decided to make a parody by playing it absolutely straight.
    Next I would like to see is JonTron’s “Steven Seagal” also known as IRL HERCULE SATAN

      I mean, you can see it on the actors' performances that none of them took the material seriously, which makes it even more fun to watch.

    Yeah, these guys knew exactly what they were doing, and the crazies never suspected a thing. It is 100% self aware. They work in all kinds of references like "attack the darkness" and even straight-up lift a conversation from the Tom Hanks starred scare flick, "Mazes and Monsters."
    13:03
    "Mazes and Monsters is a far-out game... swords, poison... spells... battles, maiming, killing!"
    "Hey, it's all imagination!"
    "...IS it?"
    ...And here's the original...

      Even the "shadow" bit is a reference to their own fan film series called The Gamers. Gamers 2 is actually legit and a really fun watch with a notably higher production value and blending both actual irl players with in-game shenanigans.

    Oh, this thing. Even with Jon's jokes, the actual movie footage was so draining that I had to take an hour break in the middle of the video the first time I watched it. There's only such much completely irrational garbage that I can listen to before I snap, you know?

      You know the movie crrators were making fun of the sauce material thats why they git some dnd terms acurate they actualy played the game the crrator of the comic was too stupid realise the films satire of him

      @@demonic_myst4503Yup. For anyone interested, the D&D fan film called The Gamers (and Gamers 2) is made by them. And the "shadow" bit in this movie is a reference to a recurring joke in their Gamers films.

    • @freedantheeternal
      @freedantheeternal Год назад +2

      @@demonic_myst4503 See, that's the thing, yes, I know the people who made this were being satirical. Problem is I remember the "Satanic Scare" episode of DnD when I was a kid, and because of what people were actually claiming about DnD back then, I can 100% believe someone would have made this movie completely seriously as is.

    16:35 well the arabic was gibberish, but the text about something that not dead and have the capacity to exist
    is supposed to be this line from hp Lovecrafts Tales of the Cthulhu
    ((That is not dead which can eternal lie, And with strange aeons even death may die))
    but i guess it was lost in the translation XD

    I’m actually trying to start a dnd group rn, and I only heard about the “Satanic Panic” a few years ago. Did you know a kid was arrested because he was accused of killing his friend who actually died and he said he wanted to kill him, but he was talking about killing his friend in a dnd campaign?

    You know people show the true depth of their ignorance when they lump Tolkien and C. S. Lewis with the occult. Not only are there Christian themes and ideologies in the Narnia books, but Lewis converted to Christianity through Tolkien (who the two were good friends at the time). In fact, Tolkien (being Roman Catholic) based some of most famous works on religious beliefs. But, simply because there’s use of magic in the story is enough for individuals to throw up their hand decrying hoe the books are “teaching witchcraft, turn our children gay, and send them straight to hell!”

    I don't know if they explain this but the movie was done by Zombie Orpheus who did a few other movies based around Tabletop RPGs, I highly recommend The Gamers and The Gamers 2. They love Tabletop RPGs and the fact that they not only made this as a satire, but got the actual rights and seal of approval from Chick himself is hilarious as hell X)

    I sometimes seen those comics left behind at grocery stores, public bathrooms, and laundry mats. It clearly made by a fundamental Christian and it says stuff you must only read the King's James version of the Bible and nothing else. It also says Harry Potter fans going to hell, the Catholic church is run by the devil, and a ton of tin foil hat conspiracy. So this movie was a good adaption of those books.

  • @Lorlic1138
    @Lorlic1138 Год назад +1

    The creators were actually mocking the idea of D&D being evil when they made this. In an interview, they were asked why they made a 1 to 1 adaptation if it was supposed to be a parody. They said that the original was so ridiculous that nothing they did would be funnier than just adapting it as is.

    So there are a bunch of movies trying to demonize dungeons and dragons. Some where christian thumpers thinking their work would scare off kids from playing the game, some where people making movies to mock the first people. Mazes and Monsters, Dark Dungeons, and Skullduggery (1983) to name a few. The problem is that these movies were hilariously bad. If anything they do the opposite of their intention, and were largely ridiculed.
