Great breakdown. Having done both styles of wrestling throughout the years, I completely agree with your analysis in this video. Still gonna be hard though. Haha. 😄
Sambo wrestling is a more original form of Freestyle wrestling. They both originate from Catch wrestling, but Sambo wrestling has remained closer to the parent style; allowing more freedom. Use those freedoms to your advantage.
I liked the video. But for me, it would have been much much better to have watched you demonstrate examples of what you explained. So in the future, can you show more examples of your explanations? Thank you!
My Judo has helped my Freestyle tremendously. My Freestyle has barely helped by Judo at all. The Gi is really a force multiplier. Once someone grabs it, clinches and underhooks are completely neutralized.
That's just it though, you aren't gonna be fighting in a gi on the streets so you'd have to hope your attacker is wearing a jacket or longsleeve that you can grip and manipulate properly. Freestyle is a lot more universal for street fighting, and atleast from experience catches a lot of average people off guard a lot of people think they're gonna have time orientate themselves and land strikes like its a professional boxing match but in reality a smart person is gonna close distance and floor you before you can even think of your next move, that's why I think Sambo mixed with Freestyle Wrestling is essential for an all round fighter.
I agree judo gi grips are insane control. Flip side, holding big joints wrist shoulder behind side neck even a hip is insane control as well, used to do it in judo made it an even larger force multiplier combined with standard gi gripping strategies.
The GI can help stop shots as well cause even if you sprawl a little late a good grip and a stiff arm will slow down the attack. Judo is good because it’s a more upright posture and to wrestlers that’s a usually safe zone/ they think you’re tired or not ready. While there are throws in wrestling especially freestyle the upright posture usually comes after breaking the balance first and can throw off pure wrestlers.
It's because the Judo stance is alot more upright and this helps you be more versatile in your footwork as well as simply being a more efficient way to stand. The standard freestyle stance is too unnatural and so is hard on the knees and expends alot of energy. Additionally, you're vision is very compromised. After all, if you can't see you can't fight as well. I would also add that you have alot more tools in your arsenal when it comes to wrist, arm, and body control, all of which are necessary to set up effective low level shots.
Those suplexes are awesome!
Greco Roman also Is Amazing!!

Sambo originates from Central asian turkic style of wrestling, Kodokan Judo then Greco-Roman styles of wrestling more than the Catch wrestling.
Where do you think Catch wrestling originates from?
Also from Central-Asian Pahlevani wrestling; mix with a bit of rough & tumble. Look it up.
Wrestler here - just enjoying basking in all the compliments he throws out.

A guy in the picture (Revaz Nadareishvili)
is a greco-roman wrestler as far as I know but ok. Good content anyway.
Hi Ivan can you make a video on how to switch from Sambo to freestyle wrestling.
Sambo has come a long distance, sambist has many slick technique, no need to rely on brute wrestling 👍
If you can counter wrestle like the saitiev brothers you are good, whwn he shots in just guy wrench counter his ass if he is not too low on your leg
Ivan could you do a video on how to beat Sambo guys in sambo as a wrestler/no-Gi bjj guy. Thanks
I love you hear videos. I'd be really interested in your thoughts on how a Jiujiteiro should compete against a sambist.
All those years I didnt know how to call a bjj practionners, like a karateka, sambist or judoka are called, lol thanks😄
@@SirBojo4 ironically, I actually first heard the term from a sambist. 🤪🤪
Imagine if you get two sleeves on a wrestler... and he catches you in a Sode.
sambo combine with freestyle wrestling is the best
Sambo combined with BJJ, Judo, and Catch Wrestling.
