just gonna add I'm only writing this because I like this group, and anything said here is just opinions that i think would help them get to the next level they're really talented and dance in sync almost to perfection, but it seems there's no natural-ness or faith in themselves in concept outside of the practised choreography. this is something that's happening with a-lot of the newer groups. they want to show perfection which leaves no room for actual natural shine that will set them apart from the rest which is a shame. it becomes cold and almost robotic. the personalities blend into each-other. notice @ 1:17 when they're all coming to stand in-front of the audience before the performance, the only person with an interesting pose and expression relating to the concept is sejeong. the rest go for a safe hand on hip or resting pose and the 4th girl copies the 3rd to also be safe. it would be better if they let go a bit more and did interesting actions/poses relating to the song to show they're comfortable in the concept and welcome the audience to have fun with them. I know it seems like a nit-pick to pick apart the poses @ the beginning, but their body language and confidence outside of the choreography actually says a-lot wish them the best
yea, i'm glad it didn't come across as just hating or being nit-picky for no reason haha. and it's not necessarily that they don't have any expressions, but the expressions they do have are not really theirs if you know what I mean. i also notice having a natural flair and confidence is not easy with nerves and comes in time. so hopefully they will find their voice as gugudan + i agree! i like this concept, the visuals and the MV was my favourite. they're not bad singing live and their dancing is seriously in sync well the song is a bit lacking in the beginning especially imo but that's out of their hands :'(
sinb I agree, but we also must take into consideration that they're probably used to nine members instead of eight. it's super easy to have a centre with an odd numbers but it's a bit awkward with even numbers. Also Sejeong has a year of live performing experience over all the others (Except Mina and Nayoung) and a massive fanbase in Korea. it's much easier to have confidence when your audience is there to see you, and to be quite honest a lot of people would be there to see her, so the naturalness that you pointed out could just be Sejeong being comfortable. I can tell that Mimi is gaining a lot more confidence and individuality and I can't wait to see the other girls break out of their shell.. especially Sally
awkwardness shouldn't be an excuse when you've already debuted, & I never said it was awkward. it's not awkward to me it's still well done, it's just missing their own personality that will set them apart from the saturation of other groups. I made my comment because I want the best for them, to help them grow. letting go of shyness and doubt is hard and takes time, so I'm cheering them on and hope they can find their natural shine on stage like looking at SNSD seohyun, when they debuted she was quite reserved and very concious of her expressions on stage, now she completely owns it. so I have faith that all they need is time to figure themselves out since they're still new
j b I agree. I know Jelipi will help them find their individuality, see in how Vixx started out, and I can't wait. Gugudan is my favorite girl group right now and I'm excited to see their growth
I don't know if anyone else noticed this, but it's really...awkward choreo, I don't know if they choreographed it before Soyee left or what but it was pretty confusing to watch. And there were times where they didn't look super sure of the choreography. Idk maybe it's just me but something seems off with it
I think so. Many parts are weird, especially in chorus. Usually choreographer will put a member behind another member if the group has odd number members. However, no member is dancing behind. Instead, a hole appear when the chorus come. I believe they don't have enough time to re-choreograph the dance so they just leave a hole
