- Hey, Stuart, I’m also big fan of building and experimenting with aircraft, and just want to share a concern of using micro servos on large gasoline aircraft… it’s not only about holding power, but gears on small servos just don’t have a meshing surface to take vibrations of large control surfaces because they been designed for small electric or even glider aircraft, and that is something to consider. I had also antique Sig Kadet II, that I solo more then 20 years ago, and it was build 40 years ago… and after replacing full size JR 537 servos, especially converting ailerons to flaperons(I figure to also split the load of full size servo) with Corona CS238 MG mini servos I got lucky, because of rigorous inspection between flight, that it’s is not a good idea. And it was powered by OS 46 two stroke glow. - Thank you, for all the videos that you do. I truly enjoy ‘em!
Doing a great job Stuart, that’s a really good idea about the expanding foam, I always find the leading wing edge always easy to crunch when picking up. Engine sounds great. Looking forward to the covering 👍🏻

I'm hoping yours has found its way out of storage and back to the bench and part 3 is in the making. Great job on the videos! I'm definitely a new fan.

Ha! I think you and the Spacewalker both. Actually it’s really just at the covering stage now but I don’t have the ‘feeling’ to work on this project right now as another is taking all my attention right now. But maybe this year.
Finished mine last May and love it. I went with electric power. 35cc extreme flight motor, flys it very well. Just an FYI, you may want to fiberglass the entire sheeted portion of the center section both top and bottom as that is what Sig recommends in the build instructions. Great job so far and looking forward to your flying it .
I built mine from the kit. I found the GP60 (Admiral) plus the mounting offsets plus the 150 AMP ESC were nearly equivalent to the DLE 55 weight wise but with much more power. That allowed me to install a hatch in the cockpit that allows the two 6s batteries (12s) to slide right in perfectly on the CG. I have flown it on a 23 x 8 Falcon and am testing 10 and 12 pitch this coming year. It should have a 24 x ? on it but ground clearance is becoming an issue. Otherwise it flies straight and true very similar to how you would imagine a giant Astro Hog would fly. The best part is concerning the use of the included plug in aluminum wing joiners - around eight minutes from vehicle to flight line. No complaints.
if ya wanna get a radio kill use a battle switch just insert the wires and run the switch to the channel and you have an indication light ! beats the switch and safer if need for remote kill emergency

You do really great work Stu. Your experience shows. looking forward to pt 3! BTW...got our Lucky Gallon Corsair in! Hope to film it this weekend!
I was half expecting that myself too but I guess there was plenty of openings to allow the foam to push out and thus no pressure to form. It works well and adds virtually no weight.

I just got bigest plane for me DB 1/4 SE5A already to fly just going to get electric motor and prop and she be ready. I seen you liked DB stuff and thought let you know mine was £400 too. so think got good model for my first big scale and get nice carm day to try it.

What lipo are you using on your starter?
12v starter i use a 4s found the 3s tends run below 12v rather fast
