I just had total knee replacement 5 weeks ago and the recovery is tough so I haven't really felt like decorating for Christmas which has given me anxiety, and I didn't think it would. I'm glad you pushed thru and worked your magic.
You are the only other person I've ever heard say not decorating the way you want to gives you stress anxiety!!! Finally someone understands me and doesn't think it's crazy! I'm lying in my bed right now and my chest pure HURTS because I only put up my tree ... And only ONE and even it is not done and my house is not clean. I am literally raising my granddaughters who are 2 and 5 with no help (except my husband but he works long days) and I lost my job this year and I have chronic health problems so this year just hit me in the booth and knocked me down ... And I stayed down and now it's mere sleeps away and I can't magically make it happen this time. I hope you heal quickly and I'll say to you what I've been saying to myself, next year HAS to be better.

@amythornton2203 don't give in. Just do small things to show the spirit. Too much emphasis is placed on all the decor and baking and shopping. Let's think about how it used to be in the old days. Kids only got some candy and fruit and nuts in their stockings..maybe one toy. In some parts of the world they eat chocolate at midnite and read books. Spending time with your grands means more in memories for them. They can make paper ornaments and help bake cookies even if they make a mess..who cares! This isn't supposed to be a competition. It's about the birth of Christ. Read lots of books to them while they eat their candy and cookies. Don't stress yourself out. You have one tree up. Why do you need more? When I was little I would lay under the tree and gaze at the lights and felt like i was in a magical world! I have that memory. God bless your family.

Oh, I love those Johnson Bros. Christmas plates. I have not seen that pattern. I collect different colors of early transfer ware.for different seasons. Red for Christmas, brown for the fall, blue for summer. Love all your lovely collections...I am about your age, and have also been collecting vintage/antique junk since I was a kid in the 60's.

I believe the calendar stocking are made from what we called “kitchen towel calendars” my momma used to get them, I loved them and tried to sew some together to make a bedspread in the 90’s but gave up 😢I wish I had kept them, but my daddy died and I was depressed 😢

For your curtains just use a seam ripper and undo the hem a bit and put some rocks or fishing weights in there in the cooler months when you don't want them to be quite so breezy.

Oh, I love those Johnson Bros. Christmas plates. I have not seen that pattern. I collect different colors of early transfer ware.for different seasons. Red for Christmas, brown for the fall, blue for summer. Love all your lovely collections...I am about your age, and have also been collecting vintage/antique junk since I was a kid in the 60's.

I believe the calendar stocking are made from what we called “kitchen towel calendars” my momma used to get them, I loved them and tried to sew some together to make a bedspread in the 90’s but gave up 😢I wish I had kept them, but my daddy died and I was depressed 😢

For your curtains just use a seam ripper and undo the hem a bit and put some rocks or fishing weights in there in the cooler months when you don't want them to be quite so breezy.
I was thinking that putting some chain links through the hem would also work!

Your home is beautiful Aunt Penny..you do an amazing job decorating everything..alittle tip for your curtians on ur porch...try getting a piece of white PVC pipe, and end fasteners and attach it to the bottom of ur porch..my husband made us some to go on our porch, so the wind wouldn't blow them up...lol. prayers for whatever ur in need of..Godknows, and we're gonna be praying for all to be well..i pray joy and happiness comes back to you...thank you Kayla for all of ur hard work too..thanks to you n aunt Penny for allowing us to visit her home..have a blessed day..
