Great video! I tried a Drop Shot Rig for the first time 2 weeks ago. Nothing. I went back to my Ned Rig with a ZMan Finesse TRD and, hooked up with a 3+. Ripped it out of a grass clump and she slammed it. Love fishing the Ned with the TRD! Hasn't failed me yet, not even in the dead of Winter.
Ott you are the man... those words should be framed "green pumpkin...may not always be best...but it's rarely wrong." That's some truth right there. Caught my biggest bass all year on a TRD Bugz on a 1/15th oz ShroomZ head in December. It was crazy on 6lb line too. I love moving baits as much as anyone... but having a ned rig set up, along with a Senko set up will always be rigged and ready for me from now on.
Can you do, or do you have a video that focuses entirely on rigging for bass in heavy weeded/grassy ponds/lakes? my local pond has decent bass, largest caught that i know of was a 6lb by a local firefighter. but dang if i can't keep from getting caught in the grass even with supposedly weedless setups like my go to texas rig. we have no issue catching bluegill there bobber fishing, but when i go after bass i find myself catching more grass than fish, regardless of my setup. i know it's something I'm doing wrong, so information would be loved, please and thank you. as always, love your videos, always learn something new.
You got that right. Here's another excellent seasonally (well, a little early) relevant video with Ott: ruclips.net/video/OVVJexLF5ag/видео.html. Also, give his RUclips channel a visit --> ruclips.net/video/OVVJexLF5ag/видео.html
Nothing catches as many fish for me as a ned rig. But it also kills a lot of bass because it's so easy to swallow deep. And that's my biggest complaint with this lure.
I'm feeling validated after starting to cut down 4.25" Stik-O's like this a couple years back...gonna tell everybody Ott stole my idea. Maybe. Good tips here though.
As Solocanoe mentions in his comment, he caught his biggest of the year on a Ned setup. We pounded loads of 4 and 5lb smallmouth on them this fall and have a history of lots of quality largemouth as well. It catches them big and small.
Caught a 5 and 5.5 lb large mouth, a pike, tons of rock bass, and perch with this rig. It is simply a bait that works, it is easy to use, and very cost effective. The trifecta that all anglers are looking for.
I can’t catch anything on a ned rig. Or zman products in general for that matter. & I throw em! I fish at least every other day for 5-14 hours. I’ll throw a ned at a lay down or rock pile 40+ times not get a peck but the second I throw a different company I get bit. Everybodies favorite-the TRD- is the worst for me. It’s weird. My friends all swear by ned rig/zman. When I do get fish on zman it’ll be a dink & half the time the bait gets ripped out of their mouth bc zman is garbage for Tex posing.
Great stuff Ott. The Ned rig sure is a fishing machine.

I've had me luck with the Tokyo rig than a drop shot but I've caught a few on a drop shot.

Great video and tips 🤗✌️ The only guaranteed thing we’re masters of. We’re all Master Baiters ✊✌️
I beat it like it owes me money 😄
Ott is one of my guys that I just give a thumbs up and a like before I even watch the video because I know it's gonna be legit.
The tug is our drug🤙🇺🇸
We hear you David. We love his simple and common sense approach to bass fishing.
Well said !!! Same here
the bait action is so good
Ned is from Lawrence Kansas I’ve seen him a few times. He’s been fishing his rig for over a decade

Great demo of the Ned rig, just got some and never used 'em before. Is there an advantage to using the ned vs a wacky rig, texas rig or drop shot?
That is my favorite place to fish on that lake.
Thanks Ott. The ned will catch them when nothing else will.
Mid March I can’t wait

Would this type of fishing work on other species of fish or just Bass. Awesome video and techniques.
works in saltwater on reds and trout and flounder, works on crappie as well.
Old comment but I have caught Pike, Large/Small Mouth Bass, Perch, Rock Bass all on the ned rig.
Only time i use it is in ponds but in march you can catch them on way more fun lures
What's your opinion of Roland Martin, not being able to get sponsors, to fish the ELITES. ???????
What rod and reel are you using?
Godd info from.this vidwo thanks...
Is Ned rig same as shaky head rig? Thanks
Great spring bait for docks
What confuses my simple mind is some companies use 5ths. I like 1/16oz, 1/8oz, and 3/16oz. What in the world is a 1/5
🤔🫣😅😂🤣
Besides catching just as many 1/2 lb to 2 lb bass as a 10 year old using night crawlers, what’s the point of a ned rig?
Baitfish will eat the ned rig too. You can figure out if there are crappie or bluegill around.

When nothing else bites, the Ned gets bit.

It’s a jig worm, been fishing like this for
Many years. The Ned rig is not new by any means. Always catches fish

Only bad thing about a Ned is will catch even trash fish like carp yuck.
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved
TF does that gotta do with fishing?
