This guy I hung out with in high school made a wonder guard spirit tomb, but what made it awesome was that it was glitched because it would occasionally delete a Pokémon in your team, so we all thought that it required sacrifices to use XD

Man, I loved my spiritomb, I used it all the way up to and including oras, with sucker punch, pursuit and a sitrus berry with max hp and split defenses. It never hit too hard but it never had to, all it had to do was weaken the opposing mon or hit through sub for my cleaner to come in and finish off the team. Spiritomb will always hold a place in my heart as one of my most reliable mons in ou even tho it wasnt up to the task. It just seemed like everyone had forgotten about it which I think gave it the edge I was looking for. With somewhat risky predictions and a nerve of steel it almost always came in not taking too much damage, if any, thanks to its 3 immunities, and debilitated physical mons with will o wisp or did its job of stalling long enough for cleaners to come in on a safe switch and take the win. I usually saved it for late game as that's where I felt it shined the most.
Oh god that thing was a nightmare, I had to restart so many times during that fight because if you couldn’t kill that thing early on then it wasn’t going to happen

@Ice You're so right, why would anybody ever use this item if it pops after mon gets hit once? We are discussing technicalities here - yes, this item would be useless on Eelektross for anything except handling Pokemon with Mold Breaker or any of its variations and ground-type moves a bit better. But you can still have Pokemon without weaknesses that way (or by having Air Baloon Porygon with Conversion and Electric-type move, or Air Baloon Emolga with Roost, or Haunter with Reflect Type against Electric opponent, this time with no Air Baloon, etc.).

That’s different. Dracovish has Strong Jaw, which boosts Fishious Rend to a monstrous level. Meanwhile, Spiritomb is better as a Pursuit trapper or Foul Play user

@Cid The Purple Inkling I think the worst is Arctozolt. Arctovish does have Fishious Rend, but that’s not the point; Arctovish is a rather good wall if not for its poor typing
one of the online battles I ever did was with a Spiritomb, it completely walled someone's Mewtwo-X, but the Spiritomb couldn't hit the Mewtwo hard enough for a quick KO, and the Mewtwo could only use recover and stat-boosting moves. the match lasted a long time
I think that a new weather type would greatly increase Spiritomb’s viability. If Spiritomb could reliably set a weather condition that boosted dark types and reduced the effectiveness of fairy types, it could be a great weather setter that could combo into some Pokémon that were hit hard by fairy’s inclusion like Hydreigon.
He's awesome but sadly not worth using much due to his disgusting ability. However, if he's comfirmed for Sword and Shield, things will change at least in Doubles, as Slaking laughs at his opponents alongside Galarian Weezing...
At least better than regigas. He doesn't have to suffer getting his attacks halved. And choice banded max attack giga impact(physical version of hyper beam) will just about leave a huge dent in any pokemon that isn't resistant or immune. ESPECIALLY since slaking's got STAB on the move.

A few weeks ago, I ran through Platinum for the first time. I had most of my team all planned out and I used a spare Diamond Version to help me catch a Spiritomb that I simply named "Wraith." He was pretty swell for my playthrough.
Kinda weird that GameFreak never made Spiritomb more readily available in later titles, seeing as going online and interacting with other players became significantly easier as time went on.
Fun fact: all 3 types that resist fairy are weak to ground. That's why the only quad resistant to fairy pokemon that still excels in OU is heatran... you don't see salazzle or something that might soon have a steel/poison type used very often eh? A ground type is a fairy type's best partner :D

I realized that Spiritomb has a higher Attack stat than Dracovish, a Pokémon known as a wallbreaker.
(Spiritomb has 92 base Attack, Dracovish has 90)

A few weeks ago, I ran through Platinum for the first time. I had most of my team all planned out and I used a spare Diamond Version to help me catch a Spiritomb that I simply named "Wraith." He was pretty swell for my playthrough.
Kinda weird that GameFreak never made Spiritomb more readily available in later titles, seeing as going online and interacting with other players became significantly easier as time went on.
Assuming it comes back to Sw/Sh, I'd appreciate a buff to its HP to match the 108 lore.

Fun fact: all 3 types that resist fairy are weak to ground. That's why the only quad resistant to fairy pokemon that still excels in OU is heatran... you don't see salazzle or something that might soon have a steel/poison type used very often eh?
A ground type is a fairy type's best partner :D

Funny enpugh...I was using an Infiltrator Spiritomb on Pokemon Showdown...and someone called me a hacker for bypassing his Substitute with Sucker Punch and Shadow Sneak. Haha.
It's not that you're a hacker, it that most players are noobs, especially those with gimmicky Ubers teams.
