U have more of a backbone than almost everyone on booktube for sticking on ur sjm views, many know and keep supporting her yuck! Youre a great ally and this was a really great video!
Dark matter had me sitting on the couch hours after just thinking about how much destruction Jason2 wrought and how happy I am that my life is so chill
Thank you for understanding the problem about SJM ❤👏 a lot of people worship her and buy her books no matter how horrible of a person she is, it's like reading fairy smut is more important than having humanity!!
I really loved this video! You sound so intelligent and that is all I could think throughout - like the last comment said, please have more faith in your reviews, you are so great!! Also a fan of Dolly Alderton with Ghosts as my least favourite, I would recommend Good Material though :) I have heard a lot of people that love Donna Tartt 'style' dark academia books love Leigh Bardugo - are any of their books on your TBR? Goldfinch is still on mine!
thank you so much for your kind words and for watching! I loved Good material, I think I reviewed it last month or the month before but it was sooo entertaining. I read Ninth House earlier this year and honestly, while I enjoyed it, I didn't really feel like it lived up to the hype? It was a bit lost on me, I don't know if I'll be reading the sequel. However the Goldfinch is definitely on my TBR still! I bought the physical copy so i might read it this month or the next
Ah I must have missed good material as if a book is on my TBR at the time I skip past you talking about it incase spoilers haha! Same with ninth house, a shame it wasn’t as good as you’d have hoped. Fingers crossed for goldfinch🫶🏻 hope you’re having a great week xx
thank you to open up about SJM !! I feel like nobody want to talk about it because they love her books so much, but I'm like... you can't continue reviewing and giving credit to a problematic author, even if you enjoyed the books
This is a great book review, please don't play yourself down for your book reviewing abilities because you are eloquent and engaging! I had similar views about Babel, although I wouldn't pick it up again. I think it works perhaps well for YA who might still be developing their thoughts and understanding around colonalism in making it quite clear that it is wrong, but for a more mature mind it can come across as a bit patrionising. I also felt that the fantasy element was not really fulfilled in this book, it was pretty much the same Victorian England just with more a sprinkle of magic, so I didn't feel transported elsewhere. Thanks for your recommendation for Dark Matter, I've added it to my TBR list for when I'm also off a book buying ban :) P.S - Came for your (awesome) tattoo tour video but very happy there's a spot here for books too!
owww this means so much to me, thank you so much! I should be less hard on myself with reviews, especially now I've been doing it for over a year! Totally agree about Babel; would have loved to see more of the fantasy element, it felt like she only skimmed the surface because maybe it was too 'big' to fully realise? The more I dwell on it, the more flaws I find with Babel, but how much I enjoyed the first half overrides my feelings about the second half 😫 and thank you so much for watching and sharing your thoughts!!
Listening to you talk is so calming ❤ I love your reviews so much!
wow thank you so much :)
Thank you for the piglet spoiler because I’d have been so annoyed if I’d have read it! And pls have more faith in your reviews I love them 🤍
you're so welcome...I was very irked we never found out 😑 will stop putting myself down asap thank you for watching queen

honestly it's really the least I can do...I'd rather not endorse her works than have people think I'm anything like that!
