- Clay Paky's world headquarters and manufacturing facility in the heart of Italy is responsible for developing and producing some of the most iconic and forward-thinking fixtures and lighting technologies in the world. I've been wanting to visit for a while now, and I wanted to bring you along as well. In this video, we travel to Bergamo, Italy to see their assembly line and quality control processes.
Thanks to the entire team at Clay Paky for allowing me into their facility to see how they make their products.

Thanks Alena and Marco for being such wonderful hosts :) we had very limited time to see everything they had to offer, so I’m sorry about the rushed nature of this video in some parts. Wish I could have spent more time there. Oh well, guess that just means I’ll have to go back sometime soon.
Thanks to you Christian. It was a pleasure meeting you!
Hey bro why'd you block me on Instagram?
The brightness difference between the Mythos and the Xtylos is just incredible! I mean, I knew that ther would be a difference but its enormous!
I was surprised when too when they compare the reds !!
These guys put so much love into these lights. Amazing products.
Thanks!
@@ClaypakyOfficial i got really surprised to see human workers in there instead of all robots :O Props Claypaky!!!!!!
Thank you Marco and Alena for a great tour. And thank you Christian for sharing a bit of your vacation.
Welcome To ITALY 🇮🇹 Bro !
Thank you!
Forza Italia!! 🇮🇹
🇹🇭
I’m Italian and I have already visited their factory😀
Ma hai chiesto semplicemente? o era già organizzato qualcosa?
Durante l'anno un paio di open day li facciamo sempre. Se vi interessa fare una visita, chiedete pure. Scriveteci in DM via facebook o instagram.
Francesco Cucchiaro ho visitato il MOMS (il museo che viene fatto vedere nel video)
Thank you Marco with Clay Paky Amazing tour and inside look at some new amazing lights
SLS Productions I’m happy that you like it. Christian did a great job.
To Alena and Marco thank you for letting Christian get a look into the mind of Clay Paky... I am just starting my journey into advance lighting and without Christian I would not know where to start.. Keep up the awesome work...
Thanks David from both of us!
What an amazing video. Thank you to everyone who made this possible. It’s so incredible to see the work behind these fixtures.
Thanks!
That xtylos looks interesting potentially the 2nd sharpy- the mirror looks interesting will be having a look at that.
Thanks Christian, I would love to have a walk around Robe
Clay Paky are awesome people... I sent them a random email out of the blue asking for a t-shirt, and they delivered lol!
I just discovered this and want to express my gratitude for such an entertaining and educational view behind the scenes of such an incredible company. Grazie Mille!
Thanks Alena and Marco
;-)
I'm Italian and I've never seen this factory... Guess some day I'm gonna visit it...
Great video. Thanks for the virtual tour. Those Goldenscans bring back a lot of memories of my days long past...
HI Christian. Claypaky are my friends too, so I also was there in April, 2018. Unfortunately, Xtylos hadn't been launched yet, but I was happy just of seeing this awesome place. Many thanks to you for sharing this video - it made me feels like I was there again!
Hope to see you here again soon!
thanks, Marco and Elena. If I visit Italy once, I will sure go to Bergamo and visit Clay Paky. It was a very interesting video, Christian!
MrOOFerstein you should ! And the food man .... wow 😲
Waiting for you then! And Emiliano... you already know very well every single corner of the CP HQ :-)
Thank you Clay Paky and Christian, love from Croatia
Thanks Alena and Marco for allowing Christian to tour Clay Paky.
I must admit back in the 90's, I cut my teeth on a Goldenscan 3 and loved every minute of it. I do miss the event production life and all of the technology that now is available. Thanks. 👍
Christian - Marco...
Me - POLO..
Guy named Marco - FINALLY!!
Me - He does not know how to play this game
Great to see the museum showing not only their great stuff from the past, but other manufacturers stuff too!
Nice factory , thanx Clay Paky for an inside view!
And thanx Christian for sharing this video!
Thanks Marco & Alena, this was so cool to see and has increased my respect for the craftsmanship of Clay Paky products tenfold!
I visited the MOMS in their offices a few weeks later after i saw some pictures on your Instagram ;-) Even DM'ed you with some questions about the visit but never got an actual answer :-)) Thanks to Pietro for opening up the museum for me and my girlfriend ! It was worth the 100km detour on our 2 week holiday in Italy!
Thanks to you Matthias!
This was great. Thanks for doing this and thanks to Clay Paky for letting it happen.
What a great video. Thank you everyone
Goldenscans were amazing - a trooper on stage. They were a must at any decent UK rave in the 1990s. They even advertised them on the flyers as an attraction.
THANKS MARCO AND ELAINA!!!!!
Very cool to see.
Big fan of their products. Never could afford to own them (and really - as a mobile small time DJ it's a bit overkill). Have used Clay Paky in club settings though. It's been some 5 years since I retired and it's really cool to see how their products continue to evolve.
Great vid and a big thanx to the CP staff for letting us have a look. :)
Thanks Roger!
It's like a kid in a candy store 😂😂😂
Thanks CP to let Christian record that very interesting factory visit!
Love that!
Thanks! Kudos to Christian for the huge effort!
The innovations we see from this company is absolutely staggering.
Amazing! Thank you Clay Paky and CJ!
Awesome!!! Thanks to you and everyone at Clay Paky, in my old clubbing days I was always in complete awe of the flying saucer fixture. Like the new fixtures too. Bravo!!!
Thanks for the tour, Christian. That was really interesting. Unbelievable how much work is done behind the curtains just to let a show shine bright. Ha, the Golden Scan, great fixture but heavy as hell.
Thanks to both of them, having some of the tech explained was truly awesome. Such amazing tech, cannot wait to get my hands on it. The prism FX in the Xtylos... way too cool
Really Cool to see primary production in Italy! Thanks for this video, it's excellent
I never thought I'd see a video on this! It brings back memories of my visit to Clay Paky in 2011. They were so hospitable and I had so much fun hanging out in Bergamo and at their HQ and factory. Cheers for the memory trip
So freaking cool to see the progression of lighting tech in that little museum!! Thanks for sharing this is so freaking cool, you lucky boy!
@@ld2lightu Honestly teared up a bit when I saw the VL 1!
@@ld2lightu a very special part of our museum!
Many many thanks
Great visit, great to see
Loved ❤❤❤
Always been my favourite manufacturer. Thank you for this trip :)
Omg the museum is tremendous, I had a couple of the lights in there at home, huge regrets in selling them on. Thanks for this amazing video.
Thanx! Alena and Marco
Also Thank You to Christian!
WOW this video was a BIG walk down memory lane. I think I have owned or used almost every one of these fixtures. Can't wait to use the Xtylos and the mirror unit.
Amazing video!! Wow and thank you.
the clay paky car is so cute lmao - dammit you couldn't see the voice over man :(((( - thanks alot marco and alena for it, ngl one of my favorite videos! thanks for filming it too christian
A secret is a secret! :-)
@@ClaypakyOfficial oh alright then... 😉😉
Awesome stuff Christian 👍🏼 thanks for sharing!
Great to see the world famous George Masek working hard in the factory.
What a great video. That must have been such a fun and informative trip to go on and see the inner workings of Clay Paky.
I saw this fixture at PLASA, super impressive! I can't wait to see them in action!
Hi, I'm 14, I'm from the Netherlands and I've been watching your videos for about a year and a half. I really love mixing and electronics but a year and and a half ago when I found your channel I realized that I want to program lights like you do. I don't know where to start but I know this is what I want to do later in life. Do you have any tips on where and how to start? I have been thinking about downloading MA on pc after my brother and I are done building our pc, but is that free and if so will it help me? Thanks for reading, your work is really good.
Thanks for stopping and making that point at 17:00 - interesting
Thank you marco and Alena! Thanks for the tour ! I've applied at Clay paky two years ago! They should hire me! ,.Im the greatest tech in the world ! 😆
YESSSSSS. I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU TO LOOK AT A XTYLOS
Omg thank you so much that's insane to see the factory 👍
So jellous..i want to go to clay paky factory as well as robe. Maybe Elation and chauvet
Funny story: I'm Italian but I never knew that ClayPaky had a factory in Bergamo!! Thank you Christian for let me know it lol
Omg their lights are the holy grail of lights, love them and loved your tour. OOOOO just got to the part with their vintage lights, I had an Astroaggi in my house and selling it was a huge mistake. I dreamed of having a Golden Scan 3 🥰 Thank you for sharing.
I could spend all day there, what a cool place!
What a trip, man.
I did a sound job in a club not long ago that still uses 16 golden scans in the roof about 30ft high, right over the crowd. I wouldn't like to have been the guy(s) that had to get them up there! I'm not surprised they havent tried to change the bulbs in a couple of them
Rigger life 🔨
Thanks for sharing this...
Wow that was an unbelievable interesting tour around the Clay Paky factory,
very cool video, Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for this amazin video Christian!!
This was so so enjoyable!!! Thank you. Just great.
I am still using these exact golden scans in the club I am lightjockey for!!
Amazing!
Wow! what a cool video, and a cool place to visit!!!
Thanks!
Great stuff. This is the future. I had plans to build my own laser diode-powered fixture and they beat me to it.
Wow what a great video man ,,,viva Italia 🇮🇹
Great video CJ. The advances in technology seem to be endless.
Maravilha Cris, Parabéns, acompanho seu trabalho aqui do Brasil, seu trabalho é Show.
On the topic of reflection of the beam in Haze.
That is purely a thing of chance.
Photons don't take the path of least resistance. They take the path of a straight line (unless bent by gravity) until they hit Something and are either absorbed or reflectet.Since Haze particles aren't round in any way, there is a higher chance of hitting something at an angle instead of vertical, therefore more light gets scattered of at shallow angles instead of back towards you.
I think we mean the same thing, I’ve just worded it differently. It is “easier” for more light to take a shallow angle
@@christianjackson wenn i think of easier and path of lowest resistance i think of electicity and water. But light doesn't behave in the same way. If you give water a path of lower resistance it will use that. As a example: A Basin filled with water with a large T Junction attached wich has 2 equual pipes connected to it one empty and one filled with gravel. Representing normal and haze filled air.
Most water will come out of the empty pipe but some will dripple out of the filled pipe.
With light it's a different thing. As long as you are able to split the light 50/50 the light will arrive at the end mostly the same for both pipes. Granted the Haze filled pipe will have lost some light but that light doesn't magically come out the other pipe its lost to heat either in the haze or the wall of the pipe.
What you said makes sense but the physicist inside of me just cries.
interesting to see how these fixtures will be used when scanning the crowd since they're lasers...
that's not how it works dude. Normal lasers are harmful because the beam is smaller than your iris, this is 100% not the case with the Xtylos.
I love the homage to the VLM
Im absolutely fascinated by gas powered argon/krypton water cooled ion lasers, the old ones circa 80/90s before diodes and solid state lasers. Also the beam tables and show optics they had, z, y scanners, d'effraction gratings, beam splitters, bounce mirrors ect. RUclips is very, very limited for in-depth videos and information on them. Can you cover one on your channel? Its a big ask I suppose.
Awesome!
Didn't kown that clay paky was so close to me in Italy awesome ;)
Another awesome video Christian! Hope you're well man.
Thanks Marco, thanks Alena 🙂
I've got an original Claypaky UFO!! It's fantastic. Done some modification on it. And can drive the motors induvidual.
Thank you ! Great video !
i started watching you because of the rekordbox tutorial .. but now still watching and learning with the lights
First clay paky fixture i encountered was one of these shadow followers. We have it at our school worked perfectly since we got it
You are the God of lighting!
Awesome
This video was awesome!
Awesome video 👍
The man narrating the ClayPaky videos sounds like the British voiceover artist Andy Turvey, (also the voice of the Tesco checkout machines)
loving ur videos this was SICK
Christian Jackson, obrigado por sua visita a importante fabricante mundial, todo meu respeito a Clay Paky. Estou no Brasil, não temos muitas oportunidades. Mas amo iluminação. Acompanho grandes fabricantes, High End Systems, Vari lite, Chauvet, Martin, Robe, SGM, Griven, Nova Light, Look Solutions, Má light, Avolites entre outros. Você me deu um presente. Sucesso no seu trabalho.
WELCOME TO ITALY CHRISTIAN! 🇮🇹
thank you
Very nice! thank's.
this is really wonderful
Hey just want to say the Here For Now Tour was incredible! Do some more vlogs while on tour with Louis The Child!
Italian 101- Just add an "AUH" after every word. DONE!!!
I mean woah, a stage/rave lighting museum 😎
Thank you so muchhhhhh
That was seriously awesome! Thank you so much. But... Couldn't name a VL2C, hand in your LD card immediately.
I am ashamed
Its is very cool to see the off set gobo. I have been doing that for years with my ADJ FS3Zs and creating a poor mans animation wheel.
I don't know why but after this video, i want to run a Big rig with just Golden Scan Fixtures...
