In short, Sistar is a legendary group. the best female vocal group before the debut of Mamamoo. Sistar raised Starship ent and they carried the agency with Monsta X. They are also renowned as being one of the sexiest and most sultry groups in the history of kpop. Hyolin, Bora (Sista 19) as well as Dasom and Soyou are real bombshells, very sexy and athletic. they were the queens of summer for almost 6 years in a row with titles like Touch my body Shake It iSwear Give it to me I like that and many more they officially disbanded in 2017. I am surprised by this comeback, of course Hyolin had already made a comeback last year with Dasom but it was not under the name SISTAR I thought that Starship had the rights to the name of the group and the copyright. but I'm super happy, this song is the sequel to MY BOY the previous title from SISTAR 19.
i really thought they were gonna just remake 'ma boy' but this is honestly such a great surprise im so happy edit: btw if you don't know, sistar19 released a song called ma boy like 12 (?) years ago and it's a HIT so they basically used it for the title of this one kinda like a bait for older fans
I usually don't comment anymore but I needed to talk about the symbolism on the glass. It is a broken glass that was patched like the Japanese technique called Kintsugi. They repair broken pottery/ceramics to preserve the history/memories of the pieces using gold, silver etc. It is kind of used to symbolize that even if something is broken it still can be kept and celebrated/remembered for as long as you keep it. This was also used on Star Wars newer movies on Kylo Ren's helm, with the red scars after it broke. It feels like it is kind of a sequence to "Ma Boy", where when they were young and naive and sang to get their "boy", now they are women and even if that relationship wasn't what they expected, it made them grow stronger. Bora had a relationship with Feeldog (he was from a boyband called Bigstar and re-debuted on a project group that came out of The Unit (a show that was supposed to give a second chance to already debuted idols that failed) and I don't know how was the repercutions of that because I was kind of in hiatus from kpop at the time but well... if you know kpop than you can imagine what it could result. Hyolin is always causing polemics with her style and it can also be taken as a metaphor to the song about the relationship with fans/haters/media. In the end of the video the glass breaks again but in other places, maybe symbolizing that you can choose to patch it again and keep it, or just leave it like that, accepting that even it is not perfect and finally can be left behind. At least it is what I got from it
As far as I know, there's no repercussions following Bora's and Feeldog's relationship announcement. Bora was still actively promoting, although Bigstar slowly dissipated (like other smaller groups).
the official position on SISTAR was kind of like Mamamoo HYOLIN (leader , main vocal , lead rapper ) BORA ( Main rapper ,Main dancer ,) SOYOU (Main vocal , lead dancer ) DASOM( lead vocal , maknae , visual ) like in mamamoo the Rappers can also sing very well , they're all goofy and funny AF . in many way they're like MAMAMOO but more SEXY
Sistar is legend. originally it was a group of 4 women (Hyolin, Bora, Soyou, Dasom) with sexy mature elegant concept. and they were known as the "SUMMER QUEEN" for their catchy songs & choreos. my fave was Bora & Dasom. Sistar19 was the sub unit (Hyolin & Bora). You should check out Sistar. You wont regret it ;)

Btw that won't be the Last Reaction in January that will leave you absolutely stunned 👀 because (G)I-DLE's Comeback on the 29th seems to have a very Mature Concept as well so Far but also very Dark (like oh My God and the whole I Trust Era) judging from all 3 Concept Images that we have now (overall it seems like as if 2nd Gen K Pop is making a Return slowly Concept Wise)
imagined the difference in vibe, style and concept between SISTAR / WJSN and IVE 3 very very good group (even if WJSN did not have the success of the other 2 groups) when I compare these groups I have difficulty seeing that they come from the same agency.
It's a cute song but I was hoping and expecting more cvnt music based on teaser pictures. They looked incredible and fierce though and deny that. I'm not sure if it samples anything but the melody reminds me of Kylie Minogue Can't Get You Outta My Head and Happy together -The turtles. Loved your reaction!
