bonus tip for bailing backside tricks, dont let your hands go down first behind you if your falling backwards because you can mess up ur wrists real bad. try to let your feet hit the ground first and push off the ground into a roll
Pinned this comment. Great advice!
Yep, I can confirm. Made this mistake last summer and my wrist still hurts constantly. The pain is not bad, but the annoying thing is that the wrist just doesn’t heal after some slams on it
I am dealing with this now, board slipped out from under me on a 5-0 on a box, all 215 lbs of me came down on my hand. And it messed my wrist up real good
Yes, part two with handrail, please
On the way!
thanks for the breakdown, i was trying to get other channels to do a tutorial on falling properly, keep shredding my man your a monster
Thank you! Will start working on part 2 asap!
knowing how to fall is crucial to street skating.. esp jumping down stairs & rails! keep up the great work maurio
Well explained!
This is the safest way to skate, learning how to fall first.
Thank you.
I agree!
Man I needed this, I’m 38 and I’ve been struggling lately with slams and commitment. Sometimes it’s even getting difficult to commit to tricks that I’ve done 1,000 times. I have definitely been taking bigger impacts to my feet rather than using this technique simply because I didn’t know about it so thanks for putting this out. I second the handrail video that others are talking about.
I too struggle with committing to tricks sometimes even the ones I usually have. It’s all a part of skating and what makes landing tricks so gratifying. There’s days where I can’t even pop my board to try tricks because little mental blocks pop into my head. I usually get myself out of it by bailing a few times and reinforcing that I’ll be fine since I can bail like this. Sometimes bailing and working backwards helps move you forward.
Brilliant! One of my favorites for sure just seems like a genuinely chill person to skate with, him and Tom Asta.
That man is a big brother to me 🤞🏾🖤
Love this. Definitely want to see a handrail bail video. I feel like this stuff mostly comes naturally, but always cool to hear it broken down in more detail
Coming soon!
You have a chill vibe. I appreciate a RUclipsr who’s easy to watch. Sub’d 🤙🏻
I appreciate you bringing this to the table
Of course!
Appreciate ya keeping us safe and constantly improving! Great video!
Thank you for taking the time to watch!
Been looking for a video like this for a while
I got you!
Great video, keep em coming ❤
I love the shout out to the old homie that inspired. I hope to see a reunion video and Kyle is still shredding.
That would go crazy. Miss bro fr!!
part 2 please!
Was trying to roll out of something recently and kept hitting my lower spine. Ill definitely have rolling over the shoulder in mind instead of sideways next time, cheers for the advice.
Been there! It happens unfortunately but at least you’re rolling out and not blowing out your feet.
I haven't watched this yet but I can tell you this is such a good vid. I used to coach similar things for snowboarders learning how to hit rails.
Thank you! Mannnn I need a tutorial on snowboard bails. I just got in it a couple seasons ago. Some things for me definitely carry over from skating but confidence is low since everything is MASSIVE HAHA
@@maurcoy for sure I feel you haha. It's tough to tuck and roll when your feet are locked in lol
man kyle nicholson fucking rips, one of my all time favorites. rad to hear that name, hope he's good
Great one!!!
Thanks!
This is cool, I was never taught how to fall and it shows lmao so this is sick
Stoked you enjoyed it!
Very help dude❤
I’m glad it helped!
Subscribed💪im 50 definitely need this god bless 🙏
Thanks for subbing!
Super rad! Why 2 pairs of socks?
My family is big into sports and my brother did this whenever he played traditional sports growing up. He eventually did this when he started skating and I followed everything he did. Main benefits I’ve seen from it are shoes fitting tighter and a little extra padding.
@ thanks!
Good video
Thanks for watching!
Part 2 with Handrail please :)
Does anyone have tips on how to bail a handrail?
I got you!
@maurcoy thanks man!!
Awesome video!
Thanks!
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Handrail version?? There's certain tricks I can do on bump to rail, flatbar, etc; that I 100% refuse to try down handrails because I have no exit strategy of how to bail them safely (back lipslide, front bluntslide, front feeble/smith, etc). I've seen you miss the grind and essentially step on the handrail/hubba to get away from it without eating shit. A tutorial on that technique too would be incredible!
I feel that! I have a few tricks that will always be scary to me down a handrail but I can do them on bump to rails no problem. Working on the vid this week!
Next video: how to fall safely when you screw up a rock to fakie (either when you hang up or when you manual to high and launch yourself backwards down). This is how I F’d up my wrist because I didn’t see another way to break my fall then with my wrist or my head.
Unfortunately some falls are just inescapable. That fall is one of the more dangerous slams you’ll take when learning how to skate. We’ve all been there. The only thing I could say would’ve saved your wrists would have been to just take it to your back and tuck your chin so you didn’t smack your head. Either way that slam sucks. But I hope you’re healing/healed up and back skating!
@ thanks for your reply bro. And I never stopped skating of course. It’s just a nuisance
I always wonder how you can flip into stuff with speed and without dying 😂 especially on handrails or down ledges
I might need to make two more vids about this now! Haha
please do 😇
Hiw about how tired bail on flat bars.lipslides abd noardslidea especially whe
That beard looks fuckin clean!
Kinda like crumple zones in cars. Absorb the impact gradually as you bend your legs and redirect energy into the roll. You can’t just straight/stiff leg it, or at least it’s not a good long term strategy
This is so accurate. 🤯
we need handrail bails my city got so many handrails but they r all pretty tall but ollieing over is no problem but bailing is scary cuz i tried bailing out of one of them in the middle of the stairset but i rolled my ankle on the stair trying to bail out the boardslide. for me 5050s are easier and less scary because how i warm up/ get comfortable to it is mostly ghost popping and getting my feet on the rail and jumping off, so it would be really helpful if you made a handrail bail video cuz i"ve been looking all over youtube for a good one but i couldn't find any.
I wish someone wouldve made this video 20 years ago
In martial arts classes, falling(safely) is often the first thing they teach. Especially if there are takedowns and throws, like in Judo.
Thats amazing. I’m sure the learning process is similar in martial arts as it is in skating. Mastering the mind and mastering intentional movements
