Amazing lady. She conquered the fear of a loosing streaks thanks to her backtests and mindset. She tracks the PnL monthly, without an emotional attachment to a single trade outcome. You can improve a lot in many trading aspects just by studying this interview. Thanks E
Thanks Etienne for the great interview. I coded this up in MT5 and have been playing around with it a bit. Long term it definitely overfits which I think is what she's getting at at the end of the interview also. However if you train it on a month or 2 only then it seems to do ok. However drawdowns are not uniform so I can't see this scaling up very easily. Perhaps on multiple different asset classes at the same time for diversification?
I build all my strategies in MT4 and MT5 so that I can do backtesting and I test forward with MT5 while running the strategy in MT4 with real money as an error check. It's a handy process.
It likes the data aspects of her system. Inspiring to actually code an excel to give me my own data instead of using 3rd party softwares thats still limited become i can only use those tools on EA demo testing of markets but im still manually reviewing my MT5 Backtest and optimization data in excel manual. Thanks for the inspiration to code my own data panel in excel. 🎉😊
So...How I understand it, She is overfitting her parameters to maximise historical returns and hoping the outperformance continues into the future. And somehow, it works. I nteresting!
Alternatively, she is doing exactly what most descretionary traders do - enter when your level is hit, take no more than N trades per day irrespective of win or loss, do not trade on certain days of the week. The only thing she is doing differently is that she has automated her live trading which is really cool I think
Thanks you for the wonderful podcast... This really inspired me I have been trading and this is a really good and inspiring podcast if someone with this age can trade every young man and ladies can do so too
I disagree with her on manual VS automated backtesting. An EA can test hundreds of variations in a short time and accounts for spread and human error automatically. I only use mt5 these days, agree that mt4 isn't good.
..Hm, well imo it mostly up to how much your strategy is dependent on the quote's quality and TFs, not the MT version. If you test anything above H1 you can disregard the quote's quality factor. Comparison to If your strategy is heavily dependent the data accuracy, like scalping on M1-M5 you def would prefer having a high quality tick data to run the tests imo
@georgekiselev How are you able to backtest this strategy through MT5 and then extract the date to put into a spreadsheet similar to hers? have you coded an EA for backtesting?.
Hope you like this interview! Share your favorite advice from it in the comments👇
Love your channel and content, you talk incredibly fast though, like trading, no rush!

Ceri is simply amazing! Thanks for bringing her on as a guest!
You bet!
interesting the last couple interviews they both changed the way they trade. Compared to your first time you interviewed them.
Great interview. Sizing down your account and increasing risk. As a scalper myself looking to grow into longer trades I love that

Why not run the strategy in mt5?
I do all backtesting on my laptop in mt5 and run it live on a vps in mt5
@@rob8145 I'm in the US with a US broker. I'd prefer mt5 but the govt isn't serious about doing the right thing.
Thanks E good stuff
I'm glad you liked it!

Totally!

Excelente, disciplina e paciência na gestão do trade são primordiais👍
On that strategy, howd we know if it’s a short or a long on that candle considering there’s no discretionary or technical analysis?
Definitely insightful !!!!
I wondered what's the EA. I hope she can share...
Woah her strategy sounds a bit too much like mine 😅 thats great to hear she is profitable with it 🎉
I love this lady right now, so many good ideas and a vision how I can implement it.
I’m glad to hear that!
very well
VERY CONFUSSING !!!!
Hmmm....
im sure the host is confused like a bat out of hell, haha.. very smart lady though who knows her stuff.

@@georgekiselev well manual backtesting will have the same considerations.

@@danward1983I did yes. Can over fit her strategy easily. I can't make it work forward for any decent period of time
