  • Come join us in Mendoza, Argentina as we learn from Audrey's father Daniel how to BBQ like an Argentine as he shows us in a step-by-step lesson the art of creating Argentinian asado barbecue. One of the nicest features of renting airbnbs in Argentina is that almost every property has some kind of grill for cooking meat. Argentine asado is such a big part of the culture that you will find a way to prepare it in almost every dwelling. Daniel gives a really thorough explanation of how to make your own Argentine asado which you can of course do when you're traveling in Argentina but you can also try out on your own at home wherever you happen to live. In the true spirit of Argentinian barbecue you use whatever is available to grill your meat. Now over to you. Have you tried Argentinian bbq before? What was your experience like? Let us know in the comments below.

HOW TO BBQ LIKE AN ARGENTINE! | Argentinian Asado Barbecue Lesson in Mendoza, Argentina 🇦🇷:
Hey guys! We are Samuel and Audrey, a travel vlogging couple from Canada. In this travel channel we share our travel and food vlogs while touring the world.
We had the privilege of traveling around Argentina for nearly 3 months from January- April 2019 on a trip covering a large section of the country.
We kicked things off with several days in Buenos Aires where we were joined by Audrey's parents eating and sightseeing around some of our favourite neighbourhoods in the city. We then flew from Buenos Aires to Cordoba where we spent a couple of weeks in the Sierras of Cordoba visiting both La Cumbrecita and Villa General Belgrano with highlights including hiking and delicious German and Swiss cuisine.
From Cordoba, we then travelled a considerable distance on an overnight bus to Mar Del Plata just in time for a special food festival called Feria Masticar featuring the best of Argentine food and wine. We spent several days enjoying beaches and seafood before heading south to Patagonia to visit the province of Chubut.
While on the Atlantic side of Chubut we visited Puerto Madryn, Peninsula Valdes, Trelew, Gaiman and Dolavon. To summarize our time in this area, we had incredibly close encounters with wildlife including penguins, sea lions and guanacos while also experiencing Welsh culture in Argentina.
Our time in Patagonia continued as we headed from east to west trading more barren landscapes for thick forests, impressive mountains and magnificent lakes. We spent significant time in both Esquel and El Bolson with day trips to visit Trevelin, Parque Nacional Los Alerces, Cholila and Lago Puelo. Highlights included sailing, hiking, riding vintage trains and partaking in the national asado festival.
We finished visiting Patagonia with time spent in Villa La Angostura, San Martin De Los Andes and Bariloche where we enjoyed more stunning scenery and hiking. On our way back to Buenos Aires, we took the Tren Patagonia to Las Grutas before meeting up with Audrey's dad again.
To finish off our trip in Argentina, we spent more time in the capital and later Mendoza where we got to experience wine tourism to its fullest extent. Overall, we had an amazing time travelling around Argentina having only scratched the surface of this vast and diverse country.
Overall our Argentina travel series explores cities, small towns that are off-the-beaten-path, and scenic attractions with a strong emphasis on Argentina cuisine and local culture.

Hey everybody! Hope everyone is safe and healthy at home. We are still under self-isolation at our home in Canada. We're thinking about all of you guys and trying our best to edit and put out videos from our 2019 back-catalog as close to daily as possible. We'll have a video coming out soon about our life in Canada during these days at home.

      Hi Guys,
Bit late to watching this video but I am about to buy my 1st Asado Grill and would really like to know what you season your meat with? Is it just salt and pepper?
Thanks for a great video. Watching from Australia

    • @samuelandaudrey
      @samuelandaudrey  3 месяца назад

@@tomasfarr3446 In Argentina we typically just use salt so as to not mask the flavour of the meat. We use 'sal parrillera' which is a coarse salt.

The explanation by Audrey's dad was quite educational. I didn't realize that the Argentine style of BBQ was that different with the slow cooking over wood embers. That counting to 10 is a neat little trick to remember. Looks like homemade asado is the must-try thing to do when visiting Argentina.

On average, how long does it take for an Argentine asado to be ready? From start being burned embers ready to go under the grill and meat to finish being the meat being ready to serve?

    • @samuelandaudrey

It takes hours if you're cooking it slowly.

Looks fantastic but I personally am very very reluctant to eat the good cuts anything above Medium Rare. It seems like in Argentina the default appears to be close to well done and if you go to a steak joint you have to very clearly specify that you want it undercooked no?

The national tastes are bloody and rare in the US and well done to overdone in Argentina, I understand.

Yes they do, they ABSOLUTELY do charcoal... but not the fabricated charcoal briquettes.... it's the real, true, raw charcoal, what Argentines call carbon. Probably more than half the time, they use carbon, but they absolutely also use wood. The best wood is a hard flavorful wood (in the US, think Mesquite or Hickory).
