New Orleans did a great job with the Grease theme. GAMB delivered on the Harry Potter. Both bands represented well. Good for the culture.
NOASB trombones kept it funky. Good. GAMB trombones had the funk and sweetness even with all that volume. I'm impressed.

On second listen… this might be a the “fans won” situation. Nobody really messed up. Gamb was louder obviously that many people should be and NOASB had better arrangements. You can tell staff at GAMB all around the same age and listen to the same music

NOASB and MMB aren’t small, GAMB is just huge lol! GAMB: slight improvement over last weeks battle vs MMB, and NOASB came with some sho nuff power. I just like the wow factor from the smaller band and it seemed as if GAMB was trying to play a little outside of their element at times in the upper brass sections. Great battle though! I'm going to listen 2 or 3 more times, but I'm learning towards NOLA. I was leaning toward them yesterday, but i got on the stream at the hallway point. So far i feel the same as I did yesterday. There were a couple songs played before I was really feeling anything from GA.
Watch this battle from 3 different sources… I came to the conclusion that Gamb is loud but lacks clarity sometimes. The band is over, powered by low brass. They’re loud but a lot of their songs sounded the same. Noasb had a more balanced sound overall. Trumpets went a little crazy with hangovers and missed notes at the cut off. You could hear each section and clarity within their highlights. Both have a nice sound though
That Rumbling was tight! 18:26 . Absolutely crushed it!
If you like loud shit, then GAMB won. If you like better arrangements, technicality with power, then NOASB won.
PS. I like GAMB, but sorry, you don’t get kudos for power when you have 1,000 mfs. And anybody can get power when attacking at the same time with half and whole notes 🤷🏽♂️.

i was there in person! on the 50 to be exact!…GAMB got that win clear as day…volume, sound quality, song choice, and arrangements…GAMB volume is insane…i enjoyed myself thoroughly…just next time i hope it doesn’t take nearly 2 hours to start after gates opened. it was too hot for that lol

I agree. Being there in person you could tell the difference. Both bands were pushing watts. I say Gamb had a size advantage but their arrangements were even better. Noasb held on til their very last breath lol

That one song they played with the runs no way gamb could have executed that song and they did not have a song that matches that difficulty level and NO executed it perfectly.
Most of gamb's arrangements were rap tunes with while notes, half notes and dotted half notes. Most of NOASB's arrangements had moving parts, phrasing, melodies and counter melodies.
Gamb was less balanced. Mellos, bones, and trumpets were virtually non-existent.
NOASB had superior, more complex arrangements that they executed well.
NOASB matched or exceeded Gamb in power with less than half the people.
We can go down the list, it was nothing that Gamb did that was clearly better than NOASB.

New Orleans beat Gamb in a somewhat close battle. They had less hangovers, less tempo issues, better overall arrangements and were more musical, matched or exceeded power with half the numbers, had better articulation, and better attack and release.
Gamb had maybe 2 or 3 musical arrangements that were really good whereas NOASB had 2 or 3 rap songs.
Also NOASB was much more balanced. The only section you didn't hear in NOASB at times was maybe bones, but Gamb was lacking bones, melos, and trumpets.

Quality over quantity. If you wasn’t there, you really don’t know. With the exception of a few, most of Georgia arrangements were stagnant, non moving and subpar, they were loud tho, if that was their goal. New Orleans arrangements were far more musical and technical, and that was the deciding factor. Even Georgia people on the field was saying gamb was getting cooked!
Y’all kill me with these tag along comments! That’s a major CAP everybody was rocking with GAMB, the music was on point the energy was there and the crankage was on overload. NOASB had some powerful arrangements I’ll give them that but it just wasn’t enough to take out GAMB. Gotta change out that old book and replace it with some new songs. Even the warm ups.

NOLA took 2 rounds, which could have been more, but 2 of the songs they played were lit, but GMAB played something more interesting and better at that time NOLA played a monster song. Gamb have a few tempo issues sometimes the trumpes got drowned out here and there, but they sounded good and powerful overall. I will say this NOASB

You had to be there to really fathom The difference between the two bands and it was a clear differences. Both bands had hangovers and at times both bands trumpets did get covered up. Mellos were about equal and on 2 songs. Nolas euphoniums and tubas were smashing Gamb on 2 songs but most of the night Georgia's Euphoniums and tubas were killin. Gamb had better bones.

You had to be there. The power was not comparable. GAMB was way more powerful. New Orleans ran out of steam as the battle went on. And they ran out of music. They came out strong with their first few songs but when they decided to start playing cadences in the middle of the battle, even the New Orleans fans in the crowd started groaning. It was definitely a great battle but after Harry Potter, it was pretty much over with for New Orleans

GAMB is the standard from all the summer bands...PERIOD! They making all the summer bands grow up and directors pen game grow up also. You better get a legendary composer like MMB if trying to get GAMB. GAMB is unique, unpredictable and is balanced on ballards. Its easy to go for the under dog. NOASB was struggling on some songs and hitting wrong notes loud as can be, cant hear trombones and trumpets on majority of there songs.
Gamb just seemed to slightly outperform Noasb. Both groups had their little hiccups, but through it all, GAMB felt more musical, more tuned in.
As for NOASB, their trumpets seemed to get lost in the mix most of the time, which was a bit of a letdown. The saving grace was definitely their mellos - they really came through to back up the upper brass. And the trombones? Kinda gave me Talladega 2019 vibes - they were there, but not with the impact you'd expect.
So yeah, for me, this went to GAMB.
It's interesting that u think that. I thought the opposite as it relates to musicality & cleanes of sound. NOASB had the edge for me...

The cameras didn’t “swallow” shat! The sound isn’t even coming from the cameras. I use audio devices that are specifically used for capturing hella sound. I stood right in front of GAMB and this is what was heard in person as an unbiased spectator/musician. I took off my videographer hat to enjoy the event lol
