Best band in the world. Thought Cast were miles better than Oasis. Their songs are filled with magic and they're amazing live. John Power is a true genius.
Hello, Ian, nice to meet you! My name is Michael, I am 33 years old and am from Peru, South America. I learnt about Cast a couple weeks ago while I was watching a video of a guy showing their cassette tape collections. He had a bunch of artists and when he showed a copy of Cast's first album "All Change", I saw the album cover and really really liked it! There was something there that was really cool, the illumination, the Cast members standing, the men in suits around them. Then I looked them up and fell in love with their music. To me, what's most important is the lyrics and when I read the lyrics to several of their songs... I was fascinated!! I became a fan instantly. John Power is a genius indeed, I love how he writes his songs, they are so inspiring especially to other men, I think!
"I like it outside when the the wind is blowing, I like it inside when it's raining " So profound My Cast top 3 Live the dream I'm so lonely Four walls
Yes I’ve worked with Simon ( Liam’s Brother on a building site in Ashton in the early 00’s ( He is a joiner & a v good one too ). Guitar playing was our common ground . Simon gave me a v early cassette of beetroot . Cast have some great tunes 😊( And Liams a class guitar player) - Watching Led Zep brought me here .
Love John, yeah he's such a scally, bless him. "Just hittin' me stride" lol. The sound quality could have been better in this interview though. Where were they being interviewed, a school room?!!
Cast are ridiculously underrated.cracking singles and not a duff album.magic hour especialy is a gem and one of the best of the 90s.glad john and the boys are still around.
I can remember, back in the day, The LAs. Seeing hearing Johns enthusiasm. And wanting to just release good singles albums, craving the critical acclaim they truly deserved. Only for big brakes to be put on stuff. I was all ways rooting for John Power. Then he did it and formed CAST. Me a nobody electrician from Leeds was so pleased with his eventual success. And so sorry about the other bloke who went down the smokey rabbit hole. An eighth was very good value back then also.
Never massive on Oasis and always respected Blur for being more varied musically but by far my favourite band of the period was 'Cast', loved all John solo efforts as well...
Have beetroot on vinyl, remember It kinda got panned for being different from the first 3, using flutes and beats etc but I thought and still think it's a great album.
You obviously don't realise Liverpool is 75% Irish ancestry and has always been tongue in cheek called the capital of Ireland. Liverpool is way more Irish than the States I know cause I'm from there and lived in the States for 13 years also. Having a dog named Paddy and a great great grandmother who married an Irish fella doesn't mean your Irish if your born in Chicago. Your American with about 4 different nationalities in you.
Thanks for that. As it states.in the about info, I have dyspraxia, I find it hard to make eye contact and keep concentration. I am getting better though. Thanks again.
Wish the other 3 could have got a word in edgeways... but new bass player dominated video. :) Played in Room 2 next to you guys in Crash a few times... proper band. Met you a couple of times on the way in/out of there. Miss those days. Hope you're still at it... great musicians all of you. New bass player a great fit - superb. "History" for me... but I'm a guitarist. :)

He is a genius. Was so proud to get to interview them. Lovely guys. Keith even spared a few minutes to give me my first ever drum lesson!
Both great.
