when learning French did you struggle with certain things like example "qu'est-ce que c'est" which although translates to 'what is this' but if you translated it word for word it does not = what is this. in English. things like that are making me unsure of whether to choose French or German at university next week. i learn German easily but i think i want to move to France after i graduate so feel like even though it's really difficult, I should choose it. x

From my own travels, I find Europeans are far better at learning other European languages, especially the Dutch who are so good, than those who are from North America; but of course, this is just from my own observations/experience. My good friend from Norway speaks four languages.
