I did enjoy this and all your IH video's. I knew Archie Ashworth from Farmer City, Il. That's pretty cool! These video's are a important part of ag history.
I'm happy that you've enjoyed them. It is neat to know that someone knew one of the people in the strip. Don't get the honor of seeing that too often. These films are indeed an important part of ag history. That's why they are being posted for the world to see, learn from & enjoy. Regards!
I only had one experience of harvesting corn for my uncle who ran a 403. My Dad by that time was operating a 95 JD for wheat and Milo. Anyway this 100 acre field of corn I harvested in 1974 had some Kansas bindweed crawling up the stalks. About every six rounds I had to get under the corn head to cut away the vines. I don't think any combine would have performed any better in those days, otherwise the 403 was fun to operate.
At roughly the same time (1958-1960) Deere and Co. was pushing for 6 row planting and cultivating, and for harvest, 2 row picking and 3 row combine shelling. I don't think it was very successful, because most farmers seem to have stuck with 4 row equipment up into the late 60's to early 70's.
That's interesting to hear. I have a couple JD combine videos posted from that era & nothing is mentioned. Hopefully, I can dig up more of those filmstrips. They sure are interesting. Regards & thanks for tuning in!
@@ikonseesmrno7300 The Deere Day films, namely the 1959 movie, the patriarch Tom Gordon ends up trading in his 60 and 4 row equipment for a brand new 730 Diesel and 6 row equipment. The subliminal advertising may be more a part of the motion pictures than the filmstrips, from what I've seen.
@@RustyCarnahan I found it on the Two Cylinder website. Will have to save up & get it. Looks really interesting. Do you have any of the other ones? I'm curious if the 43 sheller & the hay cubers are featured in any of them.
It's funny to think that we have machines that can do as much in an hour that took these combines all day!
With 10x the bin capacity.

That’s really cool you knew him. Is he still around?
@@30acreshop_time No, unfortunately he has passed many years ago.
@@danaevans3524 that’s unfortunate. May his name live forever in a cool film about what he loved then.

@@RustyCarnahan Is that film posted on RUclips somewhere? Sounds like an interesting movie.
@@ikonseesmrno7300 it's a very good movie. I have it on DVD from the national Two Cylinder Club. If it's on RUclips, I haven't seen it yet.
