    We fly fish a light skwala stonefly 'hatch' on a low population brown trout river in the early season. Clear water and bright sun leads to sight fishing and brown trout hunting opportunities and we share how we approach the water and the long, free cruising patterns of these brown trout searching for skwala stoneflies.

      Well 24 years of working at it might have helped us out a bit too:) But yes, we do feel very lucky to have found each other. It makes us happy that how and what we share connects with you. Thanks for taking the time to watch the video and share this.

    Mmmmm this video makes me happy. There's so many people fishing on youtube that have no clue what they're doing. You guys are people to learn a lot from.

      Sharing what we've learned through the years is a natural for us. However, it means nothing if it doesn't connect with anybody, so we're glad it does for you:)

    This video was fantastic! The music, narration, and footage at the beginning were perfect together. The rest of the video was such a great example of sniping fish as a team. Thank you for sharing this with us! Love it.

    The story telling and cinematography was world class.
    Great job to both of you.
    Congrats on the fish! The mouth of that thing was prehistoric. Definitely an older fish.

      Thank you again :) We just watched this on our SmartTv through the RUclips app and this is exactly the style of video we love and want this channel to be about. Natural. Real. Miss a fish? Own it, learn, move on and apply forward. :) It was an amazing fish that was definitely a spring fish coming out of the spawn then over-winter... a little thin. But those chompers were amazing. :)

      That was an amazing fish that just kind of materialized out of nowhere and nothing. Great to stumble onto that one and even better to have luck that nothing untoward tipped him off after that fly slid out of his mouth first go. All 100% about team work right there in this video. :) Glad you enjoy them

      Thank you. It was! Tough for sure. Heaps of patience and communication needed in this one, certainly. That big brown could have used a few more calories but that's what stoneflies are for :)

    interesting that stoneflys live in that silty water, looks like major runoff issues?

    • @jensenflyfishing
      @jensenflyfishing  2 года назад +1

      This river does see quite a decent run off with plenty of silt. It also has lot of water taken out for agriculture so the browns have a few factors to fight against, but the ones that are there find their way and the bugs too!

    At about 3.25, You say it's a mid-May day. Was that a slip of the tongue, caused by the excitement of having just landed that beautiful brown or is this a video from previous year? May would seem awfully late for Swalas, but then you're a little bit further north of me.

    • @jensenflyfishing
      @jensenflyfishing  2 года назад +1

      Not a slip of the tongue at all. It has been our goal the past year or two to create separation by at least a year in our filming vs producing. You'll start to see a "warning" in our video write-ups to people that want to "hot spot". We've had heaps of people through the years do exactly that and we actually had 3 or 4 year separation on Instagram & Facebook and we're shooting for the same here. We want the focus to be on the how to and not at all on the here & now. The "where" is obvious to those who know but our goal with the "where" is the focus on the water type and micro-habitat as it can be found anywhere, rather than the specific river. Hope that helps.

    • @robertlynn7332
      @robertlynn7332 2 года назад +1

      @@jensenflyfishing fully understand, and not trying to hotspot. I just thought May seemed late for Swalas. Ours are already starting to tail off here. Cheers and tight lines!

    • @jensenflyfishing
      @jensenflyfishing  2 года назад +1

      @@robertlynn7332 No, definitely wasn't saying that to you, just a comment for others watching. Once you get over the elevation and northern influence hump between Browning & Missoula there's a 2 or 3 weeks change of seasons.
