Materials is definitely important for new players and people that are trying to build a new unit, but the reason why I would recommend to get the equips and UR stardust first is because the equips are most likely not coming back for a long long time and UR stardust is hard to come by cause it's not farmable, go for materials if you really need to build a good unit of course, sorry for not explaining more in the video, thank you
