Concerning the Holy Land, the chairman of the Syrian Delegation at the Paris Peace Conference in February 1919 stated:
"The only Arab domination since the Conquest in 635 c.e. hardly lasted, as such, 22 years".
The preceding declarations by Arab politicians have been done before 1967, as they had not the slightest knowledge of the existence of any Palestinian people. How and when did they change their mind and decided that such people existed? When the State of Israel was reborn in 1948 c.e., the "Palestinians" did not exist yet, the Arabs had still not discovered that "ancient" people. They were too busy with the purpose of annihilating the new Sovereign State and did not intend to create any Palestinian entity, but only to distribute the land among the already existing Arab states. They were defeated. They attempted again to destroy Israel in 1967, and were humiliated in only six days, in which they lost the lands that they had usurped in 1948. In those 19 years of Arab occupation of Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip, neither Jordan nor Egypt suggested to create a "Palestinian" state, since the still non-existing Palestinians would have never claimed their alleged right to have their own state... Paradoxically, during the British Mandate, it was not any Arab group but the Jews that were known as "Palestinians"
@@berniefynn6623- Look I found a Hasbara! I searched the entire Paris Peace Conference report. No such quote exists. So I looked up the quote verbatim to see who the original speaker was. It wasn't from 1919, it was from a 2008 opinion piece in US News by Mortimer Zuckerman. Not only did you misattribute the quote, you misquoted it as well. There's no "The only". You or someone else added this in. The original quote is as follows "They (Jews) had lived there at least 1,800 years before the Arab conquest of 635 C.E., which lasted only 22 years." But that's not the ONLY Arab conquest, it's the first conquest of many conquests (the remainder of which lasted centuries).
And a conquest doesn't mean that Arabs just got there. Nobody would genuinely believe that a tiny country that was a trade hub and religious epicenter nestled between Egypt and the Gulf, as if it didn't have Arabs already established in its region. In fact, there were many Arab tribes that pre-existed in the Levant, including the Bedouins and Ghassinids who were already there half a century before any Arab conquests began. And it's ridiculous to think that Pªlestinians aren't natives, when geneological studies of tombs and ruins show that they are descendants of both Canaanites and Isrælites. Just bc they Judaized under Judean rule, then Romanized under Roman rule, then Arabized under Arab rule, that doesn't mean they're not indigenous to the land. Nobody would dare claim First Nations people aren't indigenous just bc they Americanized, so it's faulty to diminish the indigeneity of Pªlestinians simply bc they became LINGUISTIC Arabs.
Besides its silly to act like Jėwısh descendants have full claim to a land, when the Ancient Isrælites weren't the first ones there - they were invaders & settlers, even by the Torah's own account. And they weren't the only ones living in that land, they lived alongside (and fought) other tribes. In fact, not only did Jėws not have SOLE claim to the country, they never had claim over the entire region - just portions of it (Judea and Samaria). Mind you, when the partition plan was created, the Jėws received the side that wasn't even historically theirs. They ignored Judea & Samaria, proving it was never about historical reclamation. They forfeited these non-arable areas in favor of the more fertile land. How colonialist, and not at all to do with re-establishing the biblical homeland.
So if Jėws can make a native claim with such a disconnected history and an even more diluted genetic lineage, then how can you diminish the land right claims of Palestinians who not only have a higher genetic connection, but also have a longer historical connection that is evidenced by a deeply rooted culture and heritage? Jėws in the diaspora didn't practice Levantian customs or sustain their heritage, heck your tribal structures and Hebrew language became lost over time. You returned to the homeland as foreigners, with only a superficial claim to the land that you pulled from the second-hand accounts of a book.
@@berniefynn6623- Forgot to debunk your other claim. There are mentions of "Palestine" specifically, as early as 5th century BCE in "The Histories" by Herodotus (450 BCE), by Shakespeare in "Othello" (1620, about 4000 yrs ago), and in Napoleon's letters (1799, over 2000 yrs ago).
But there are also mentions of it in other languages, with the earliest mention of the region found in Ancient Egyptian heiroglyph inscriptions as Paleset (1150 BCE) 5 different times in temples and statues. The Assyrians referred to the same region as Palastu 7 different times - most notably in the Nimrud Slab (800 BCE) and again a century later in the Esarhaddon Treaty (700 BCE).
Greek philosophers also mention Palestine such as Aristotle (Meteorology, 340 BCE), Polemon (Praeparatio Evangelica, 150 BCE), Agatharchides (Biblotheca Historia, 130 BCE), and Pausanias (Description of Greece, 130 AD) - along with Roman philosophers such as Ovid, Tibullus, Pomponius Mela, Pliny the Elder, Dio Chrysostom, Statius, and Plutarch, as well as Roman-Judean writers such as Philo of Alexandria and Josephus.
I can keep going for another 20 centuries, but I think you get the gist. Palestine has always existed. I can also share links to ancient cartography of Palestine if you'd like. Let me know, I can post them in a separate comment so this one won't get flaggėd and eråsed.
