In the past I've felt that Colin was far too critical of Nintendo, but after today's dismal showing, his frustration towards the company is completely justified.
Ive been on the fence about Splatoon and as soon as Justine said you can turn off the motion controls, instantly sold. Picking it up right after work now.
Trust me, I'm a huge fan of Xeno, but there is really no point of getting hyped for a game that's already out. I feel the same about Yoshi WW, why SEPTEMBER!? The game is gonna be out in Europe in like 2 weeks! Same with Xeno, I understand there is translations being done, but atleast make the Wii U region free, so I can play the Japanese version.
Anthony Derome But that doesn't excuse bad journalism. They are paid to report on what was shown, which means they should report on everything that was shown, not just some of it.
So happy to have another Nintendo fan instead of just Tim. I always felt like Tim was out numbered when it came to Nintendo stuff. He's usually the only one that knows what he's talking about.
Pretty disappointed :'( I'll just drop this littl'old list here: - no Zelda u trailer - no real Metroid - no real Animal Crossing - no Pokemon (colloseum/snap/rpg/pokken fighters) - no f-zero/1080/wave race (something) - no donkey kong (that’s ok, but no diddy kong racing) - no new Golden Sun (or sth…) - no Mother 3... ( :'( ) - no braverly second (even though that falls into the category of previously announced titles) - no new pikmin (why not?) - no Devil’s Third - no project treasure - no retro game - no platinum game (just Star fox… really??) - no Mario Sunshine/Galaxy/world… - no gamecube games - no mobile games - no news on the Club Nintendo-stuff - no new IP - no Wii U price drop (something it needs… so bad!!) - …. :(
Atlantidas Zeus I'm satisfied. After all, we got: - Star Fox Zero - Super Mario Maker - Yoshi's Wooly World - plus a new Zelda game next year (no trailer, but I'm still positive)
Shritistrang But we knew those games were coming... :/ I'm excited for the new Zelda, I just hope it's playable as a single player experience... Also, Yoshi's Wooly world will be in my mailbox (Amiibo and all) in 10 days (yay), but that's not a new announcement either (nay..)
Atlantidas Zeus Well, I've been hoping for a new Metroid, but who knows. Maybe there will be a great singgle-player mode in the new 3DS game alongside the multiplayer aspect, a mode where you play as Samus. And the Prime series has always been fun.
You guys are being far too nice on Star Fox. It's very clear this is a half-assed attempt to get one other "big" franchise on WiiU before moving to the next system (outside Zelda which I'm guessing will come to both systems). Star Fox has had a very lackluster set of games for over a decade. The last 2 being Star Fox Adventures and Star Fox Assault. I will also argue that Nintendo really should go back to the press conference format. There is a charm in the stage show that's not there anymore with these directs. The excitement is gone and this direct was a huge letdown. Nintendo needs to figure it out and fast. Either that or just keep churning out Amiibos and don't pretend to be anything more than a console for kids (which has it's place). I just know they are capable of much much more.
Microsoft's VR tech is amazing, but the gameplay wasn't. The "gameplay" demo while technically cool looks pretty underwhelming. It's like a cool thing you'd do a couple of times and never touch it again. Still they have time to make it actual interesting gameplay
Two things: 1) I really think they nailed the point of Amiibo with Splatoon. You tap these sweet figures on the pad and unlock like 20 challenge levels that in turn unlock unique gear and weapons per figure. It's basically like buying DLC from Nintendo but you get fun statues for your desk too. 2) Justine should've really given the motion controls in Splatoon a shot. The vertical motion aiming combined with the stick strafing makes fine aiming really easy. Tried switching it off after I was used to it and its just too difficult to manage in the hectic gameplay. Loving the coverage, guys!
How can they think the motion controls in Splatoon arent good? I mean I understand just not liking motion but it feels so much better than twin stick controls...eh guess it's just me.
I'm a huge Nintendo fan but I can't defend them right now. Awful e3. You can tell they are done with Wii U and will come back huge next year with the NX.
To everyone dissing the Nintendo conference, are you really surprised? With Nintendo basically confirming NX is just over the horizon this conference basically slammed the already placed nail in the Wii U's coffin. Why would Nintendo place all their resources, studios and IP on a system that simply hasn't sold? (Don't get me wrong I love my Wii U and prefer it to the Wii but it simply hasn't sold). Nintendo are doing the right thing. Even Reggie in the presentation was saying that Nintendo are changing and implying they need to change to survive. This is a year of transition for Nintendo and I expect them to come back big next E3
I'm glad they're admitting they are in a state of transition, but they also said they were first to bring forth the next gen machine. Let's see if this transitioning phase also restructures their way of thinking & their perception of "what gamers want" or should i say "what gamers Should want". May this transition help them realize that they need to focus on creating new legacies instead of relying on their old ones.
These guys are being much nicer than expected. Although half the cast are fanboys so that's part of it. Really just shows that there was no point talking bad about it. It was obvious it was a dull conference overall and the fact that they were really reaching for the high points speaks for itself.
Tim the definition of a Nintendo fanboy, "starfox looked empty, but that doesn't matter to me , that's what I wanted" I hope he just phrased just poorly , because that's awful if you'll just take anything from Nintendo even awful game that you found wasn't pretty awful looked empty, come on expect better from your company !
KidArkI I guess you're own of those folks who have selective hearing. Also, I like how you ended the quote with "that's what I wanted", even though his statement didn't end there lol. If your going to quote someone, quote their whole statement. Kinda like this, "I am negative about this direct, I was not thrilled by it, and I did want to be, that was not the announcements I was looking for." -Tim Gettys So it seems you completely blocked out that part, but I suppose that has something to do with that selective hearing, eh? Take it easy kid and God Bless...
Wooly world is my most anticipated game by far. I actually am excited for the Wii U Animal Crossing also, very interested to see how it turns out. A little burned out on AC after New Leaf, so glad they are trying something new with the franchise
The entire time I was watching Nintendo's conference I felt like I was waiting for something big and unexpected to be announced. I was hoping to see something really out of left field like F-Zero. Man, I miss that series :(
The rumor is NX is just a stand alone streaming device like Sony TV. Also i get the impression Colin wanted to be a lot harsher with his criticism of the Nintendo conference.
85flintstone He understands that Colin is right. because when Colin has an opinion, he explains it rather well. Even when he sometimes can get a little obnoxious.
Just watched the Nintendo conference... Nintendo showed absolutely NOTHING for me personally. I just dont think a 25 year old is their audience and they seemingly agree with me based on that depressing ass outro by Reggie about Nintendo changing. They know exactly how critical older gamers are of them and it seems like they are telling us that they arent for people like us anymore.
Jason Darr Well, they're not. :P I don't they've ever tried to appeal to the jaded masses. They're for kids and the-young-at-heart. As much as people don't want to admit it though, the gaming industry needs that. They need a company that's going to bring new gamers into the world. It kinda sucks for older gamers who still want to love them, but companies like sony and microsoft aren't the ones who are going to get 7-yr-olds to fall in love with gaming. That's just the way I look at it, at least.
SeriousxSarcasm Very true... theyre the console for young kids getting their first console. It makes sense. The industry cant all be rated M games with out any entry point for kids and first time players.
I Believe Miyamoto outright confirmed not long ago that a new Mario would be released on NX rather than Wii U. As a Wii U owner I was a little disappointed by the lack of interesting new titles for the new year.
So let me get this straight: Nintendo announced a new Animal Crossing game, but it wasn't Animal Crossing. They announced a Metroid Prime game, but it wasn't Metroid Prime. They announced a Zelda game, but it wasn't really Zelda. They announced a new Paper Mario game, but it wasn't really Paper Mario. It's like Nintendo has absolutely no idea what their fans want. And it's baffling how people like Tim and iJustine can still blindly consume the shit Nintendo is feeding its fans this year.
Honestly, I was more hyped for Star Fox than Fallout or Last Guardian. Though, that isn't really saying much as it was more like. 'Oh cool. Star Fox.' And that's it.
Meh kh3 was cool but not enough to carry an entire conference. Don't get crazy. Not even the ff vii hype was enough. But it was not the worst conference at E3. It was still better than Nintendo and EA.
the only announcement that could come from nintendo that would excite me was if they were dropping their consoles and making games for xbox one, ps4 and pc...
My thoughts: Nintendo seems to have moved off primarily developing both 3DS and Wii U. That being said, there are a lot of games coming still (Xenoblade, Fire Emblem, Mario Maker, and Zelda) and there are a good number of great Wii U and 3DS games out. It's unfortunate, but Colin is right. Hopefully NX fixes the problem Nintendo has, primarily splitting dev time between console and handheld. There's no reason for two systems anymore.
Tim, will you shut up about "being negative or not"? Collin is trying to have a conversation. Be honest! Don't lie to yourself for the sake of being happy! Please! For yourself!
I like how Tim is such a staunch supporter of Nintendo, despite the fact that he doesn't play many games. Maybe that's why he loves his WiiU so much. When these games come out everyone will be on WiiU? Sales don't matter? Tim, this fall will have Fallout 4, MGSV, Tomb Raider, Halo, Call of Duty (I know I know, but people still play it) not to mention Batman coming out next week and Witcher 3 will last for god knows how long. Maybe Nintendo fans will prefer to play Nintendo games, but they'll be missing out on a lot.
I'm in the same boat as Colin. I'm 32 and owned an NES through Wii U . I've seen Nintendo rise and fall over the years, but they lost me a long time ago. I truly feel the loss of 3rd party support, which they promised for the Wii U and got me hyped for the system, has contributed to their declining status as game makers. Their games don't speak to me anymore as an adult. I'm not saying they have to make bloody shoot'em-up FPS or 3rd person games. Mature games can be done in a way that's tasteful without being extremely gratuitous or controversial in subject matter. As much as critics hated ZombiU, I appreciated Nintendo trying to go back to its past by having a gritty survival horror a la Resident Evil Remake on Gamecube. The failure of ZombiU also hurt them because so much hype was behind that game, especially being a 3rd party title from a AAA studio like Ubisoft. Even Ubisoft stopped backing them, as evidenced by them delaying Rayman Legends in order to port it to Xbox 360, PS3 and eventually the next-gen consoles as well. Nintendo has had strong launch titles before and ZombiU's success would have most likely led to more 3rd parties wanting to invest time and money into making exclusive IPs for Nintendo, They need to win their old fans back who have felt like they've outgrown them. More power to those though who still enjoy their content. In a way, I envy you because I don't see the appeal anymore to their product. I hope they can make a strong come back with NX.
I thought the music in Starfox w a s really bad. It's like they ripped the Pilotwings soundtrack and dragged it over the vocals. I loved Pilot wings on SNES, but that was like 20 years ago... I was expecting something a little more theatrical than crappy keyboard synth.
for all the shit some people are giving Tim, especially for what he is or isn't contributing to the game over greggy show, i feel like he is on point with that nintendo stuff. and that's what i like about him, he isn't as "academic" in his approach to gaming as Colin, and his opinions may not be as refined, but i like him because i can relate to him in a way that is more about the "feel" of the games. I often agree with Colin on the objective aspects of gaming, or the general qualitative aspects of games, but when i want gaming emotion, i go for Tim.
I thought the event was abysmal. Star Fox looked like shit (what happened to all the amazing art direction Nintendo has been showcasing for the last couple of years?). Not a single new announcement got me excited. NOT ONE. Oh and thanks Nintendo for shitting all over Metroid, my favorite franchise. The NX better be extraordinary because I'm kinda done at this point.
Geoffrey Smart Totally agree. I couldn't stop thinking Star Fox looks exactly like Star Fox 64. Then you had the Metroid Prime slap in the face. What a horrible conference.
Ben Malin And who at Nintendo looked at their e3 line-up and decided "you know what, let's not show Zelda, we got plenty here for the fans to be happy." Gotta be kidding me.
iJustine, you turned off motion controls in Splatoon? I'm pretty sure you'd be getting owned online then. Because it is by far more accurate and faster. You just gotta get used to it.
The Smash direct was amazing, it had a ton of new content (which would've been an amazing surprise if people would stop snooping around) but the E3 Conference itself was not great at all
"One of the last first party Wii-U games." What? Hah, its not the Vita. Its gonna have more to come before the NX happens in 2017. Nintendo focused on games coming this year because they didn't want to get people giving out to them over not having the 3DS and Wii-U games coming out soon.
I want a kind of funny reacts to the 1 hour xenoblade x gameplay video. just so u guys get a clue about the fucking epic game being developed over at monolith.
That was a rough conference. They had all their big franchises but they were just cop outs: Mario was there but only through Mario Maker and that dumb Mario dimensions game, Zelda was there but only through a Hyrule Warriors port and Zelda Chalice Dungeons, and Metroid was there but only through that abysmal looking 3DS game. At the end I thought they were building towards a new Galaxy game, but nope. Rough time to be a Nintendo fan after a fantastic year last year.
At first, I was deathly afraid of Nintendo announcing mobile games this year. Thankfully they didn't, but nonetheless this e3 for them was lack luster. I agree with the statement of making star fox into their next triple A title. That's why most of the content this year was lesser in comparison. I still don't think this year's e3 for them was terrible though. Animal Crossing still makes them a lot of money, and skylanders announcement with the added amiibos is a very smart business choice. I suppose that since they already announced more than half of the titles last year, people expected more, including me. I wanted to at least see an unannounced title, which happens to be Yokai watch. And I am happy with that decision, but I still wanted to see something more. As in a remake of an old title and such...still crossing my fingers for chrono trigger. But I can see Nintendo using e3 to advertise Yoshi wolly world, and Mario maker, knowing the sheer number of spectators they get when people are watching. It is a smart move, like you said the wiiu is too expensive but I don't believe it should be considered that bad.
I stopped playing Nintendo games when they released the Wii because i always thought it was a shitty gimmick. When they announced Zelda last year i went and bought a Wii U that day now only 1 year later I'm wondering if its time to trade it in before its worth less than bottle caps...
You guys went easy on Nintendo. Coming from a huge fanboy - to say this morning's event was a disappointment would be an understatement. Star Fox Zero looks FAR from finished and barely looks like a first party title, which is a bit alarming considering the development time its had. It basically looks like an HD Assault which was handled by Namco...and just lacks that polish Nintendo is known for. There were hardly any surprises. Nearly ALL these games we knew about and have seen in past Directs...or even last years E3 (which concerns me even more that they chose not to show Zelda...leading me to further believe that it could very well end up being an NX title). I don't care about these offshoot games from familiar properties. I could care less about Triforce Heroes, Federal Force or AC Party - I want the real thing! Where's Next Level's game? Where's Retro Studios game?? Nintendo...WAKE UP! OK, I apologize for the rant. Just a passionate Nintendo fan who is understandably frustrated.
Marcus Nunez Completely understandable, man. This presentation was abysmal. As someone who gave Nintendo the benefit of the doubt and bought a Wii U right after it launched, I'm seriously doubting giving NX the same support.
Why would you work or go to school on that day? Why would you eat? Why would you sleep? Life goes on, life has to go on. You can't just stop forever just because a terrible event happened on one day
Who cares whether it is released on the date that some terrorism occurred? People are extremely silly, this and Ninja Turtles's poster are nothing to get upset about.
I thought the conference was bad. The only thing I liked was the new trailer of the new Fire Emblem game. In my opinion the new Star Fox game looked really bland and from the gameplay I saw, the game didn't look fun to me. They spent way too much time on games we already know about (the new Yoshi game and Mario maker) and showed trailers of games we've seen already. This conference is down there with EA for worst conference of E3.
In the past I've felt that Colin was far too critical of Nintendo, but after today's dismal showing, his frustration towards the company is completely justified.
Greg's 'konichiwa' is my favorite thing ever. No matter how down I am, just thinking about that cheeky fucking konichiwa makes me laugh out loud.
SanaySK That and the freaking NX gangsign haha, throw it up!
Ive been on the fence about Splatoon and as soon as Justine said you can turn off the motion controls, instantly sold. Picking it up right after work now.
posted this from my Vita
Way to forget about Xenoblade Chronicles X, Kinda Funny. Good job.

Logan Hollis To be fair it is a more obscure game.
Internet Enzyme It's only obscure because major media outlets ignore it. If they paid attention to it, then it would be less obscure.
Logan Hollis I agree in a way, but the conference as a whole was crushingly dull and rather bad >.
Anthony Derome But that doesn't excuse bad journalism. They are paid to report on what was shown, which means they should report on everything that was shown, not just some of it.

I think it looked fine. And I'm okay with an E3 with a little less content. Just you wait, the next one will be amazing again.

NINTENDO NEEDS TO LISTEN TO IT'S FANS FOR ONCE!

I really appreciate that you upload your reactions so quickly after the event! #Sweden
That was a horrible conference. Even Star Fox was kind of underwhelming... and I've been waiting for a long time. pfft.
splatoon's motion controls are on-point tho
worst e3 press conference ever
ShadowOfNexxuswhat the fuck was that metroid ?!
ShadowOfNexxus Nintendo E3 2008 says hello
ShadowOfNexxus Sony 06 and EA 2015 were both worse in my opinion.
brody bagnard okay thats alright you think that. i thought EA had more games i am interested in
Maybe it's just me, but I really wasn't a fan of Nintendo's announcements.
agreed. i don't get the hype.
Omar and Wasif what hype? Nintendo killed all the hype after the Earthbound Beginnings...
John Seminario Wasn't good at all.
John Seminario I thought this was up there with EA with how bad it was
Trust me, it's not just you.
"They belong in a museum!"
Loved that reaction XD
Cool to see Justine with you here !
Alex Bianchi I hope Nintendo knows how important NX is.
Greg looks like his nerdy superhero counter part, if that makes sense. Which it doesn't.
I can't put into words how much I love Colin.
I absolutely adore Justine.
2016 is the year of Fire Emblem & I can't wait.

Christine is awesome and seems majorly smart.
Tim is about that jamming things together life lololol
roy coming back is easily THE best announcement at e3
Tim the definition of a Nintendo fanboy, "starfox looked empty, but that doesn't matter to me , that's what I wanted" I hope he just phrased just poorly , because that's awful if you'll just take anything from Nintendo even awful game that you found wasn't pretty awful looked empty, come on expect better from your company !

They confirmed FE Fates is 2 versions. Saw it on twitter through a press release. SMTxFE was a character trailer. A siliconera article breaks it down.
Mario Golf and Mario Tennis are my favorite Mario games.
I just bought a Wii U last year, definitely not dropping another 300-400 dollars on a new console with 2-3 games a year. 3DS is the shit though
New drinking game!
- Every time Colin says 'extraordinary' (You'll be Smashed in about a minute)
Tim looks angry as hell when Colon starts talking down Starfox's graphics.
85flintstone He understands that Colin is right. because when Colin has an opinion, he explains it rather well. Even when he sometimes can get a little obnoxious.
85flintstone He shouldn't take every Nintendo criticism so personally. Starfox looks ugly as hell, like it was up-rezzed from a PS2 game.
Easily the worst conference of E3 thus far. Literally nothing made me think of buying anything Nintendo.
Star Fox looks especially awful
Just watched the Nintendo conference... Nintendo showed absolutely NOTHING for me personally. No price drop needed for the Wii U, just get a refurbished one for $200. Amazing deal.
Such a great surprise hearing ijustine
I don't understand how anyone can be excited about anything Nintendo announced. It was a horrible, cheesy and excitement-free show.

Honestly, I was more hyped for Star Fox than Fallout or Last Guardian. Though, that isn't really saying much as it was more like. 'Oh cool. Star Fox.' And that's it.
I love how Colin ignored Justine. Good job Colin!
KINGDOM HEARTS 3 AT SQUARE Enix conference WAS AMAZING AMAZING WOOOHOOOOO

Best part of StarFox Zero,
No Krystal.
I have that exact same shirt that Colin is wearing :D!
Greg shouldn't get a point for Amazon. They've been selling directly from Nintendo for a little while now, before his prediction.
Most of the games looked cool but I think we all expected way too much.
The Direct was an absolute DISASTER. I have no words for how disappointed I am with Nintendo right now.
You can tell Colin is so disappointment in Nintendo comes from the heart.
He like a lot of us want Nintendo to be great again.
Nintendo has had strong launch titles before and ZombiU's success would have most likely led to more 3rd parties wanting to invest time and money into making exclusive IPs for Nintendo,
They need to win their old fans back who have felt like they've outgrown them.
I often agree with Colin on the objective aspects of gaming, or the general qualitative aspects of games, but when i want gaming emotion, i go for Tim.
yea, Metroid prime: ball buster, no pun intended.......
Wii U is not sub Dreamcast levels according to VGChartz. I guess that is accurate? Xenoblade is also gonna be huge, do not over look it! :D
i dare nintendo fans to try to defend this direct/conference. iwata even went on twitter and apologized
Nintendo had the most lackluster E3 out of everyone.
will you be doing a reaction to square enix conference?
I hope they do better with the NX. Mario maker looks nice.
"I love being a dude" - iJustine, 2015
Never forget
I felt like they were holding back because she was there.
Ben Malin
And who at Nintendo looked at their e3 line-up and decided "you know what, let's not show Zelda, we got plenty here for the fans to be happy." Gotta be kidding me.
I'm a huge Nintendo fan and the only game I can get excited for is Super Mario Maker. I'm not even interested in Yoshi Woolly World or Starfox.
Tim is such a fanboy it's painful
iJustine, you turned off motion controls in Splatoon? I'm pretty sure you'd be getting owned online then. Because it is by far more accurate and faster. You just gotta get used to it.
Their conference was complete garbage IMO and I will never understand why people like those dumbass Amiibos...
The Smash direct was amazing, it had a ton of new content (which would've been an amazing surprise if people would stop snooping around) but the E3 Conference itself was not great at all
"One of the last first party Wii-U games."
What? Hah, its not the Vita. Its gonna have more to come before the NX happens in 2017.
Nintendo focused on games coming this year because they didn't want to get people giving out to them over not having the 3DS and Wii-U games coming out soon.
wow it's wonderful
Was this streamed?
Does anyone else hear that really sad piano section around 22:00?
Jeremy Smith A good accompaniment to one of the saddest E3 presentations ever.
i had hopes for a new metroid but man im sad now, guess ill just wait for zelda and fire emblem.
It is a smart move, like you said the wiiu is too expensive but I don't believe it should be considered that bad.
nintendo's conference was so disappointing i thought it would have been so much
I stopped playing Nintendo games when they released the Wii because i always thought it was a shitty gimmick. When they announced Zelda last year i went and bought a Wii U that day now only 1 year later I'm wondering if its time to trade it in before its worth less than bottle caps...
You know what i mean? You know what i mean? You know what i mean? You know what i mean?
When Mario turned into Link I thought "Zelda Maker!?" =/
As someone who gave Nintendo the benefit of the doubt and bought a Wii U right after it launched, I'm seriously doubting giving NX the same support.
when will they post square enix conference reactions
Why would someone ever release a game on September 11th...
Cause it's a Friday and just a game, not a new plane.
With that logic why do we exist?
Why would you work or go to school on that day? Why would you eat? Why would you sleep?
Life goes on, life has to go on. You can't just stop forever just because a terrible event happened on one day
I suppose it would be more ironic if they released star fox on 9/11
Who cares whether it is released on the date that some terrorism occurred? People are extremely silly, this and Ninja Turtles's poster are nothing to get upset about.
NINTENDO GENERATION X!!! HEY PS4 AND XBOX, WE GOT TWO WORDS FOR YA!
Whoa whoa whoa, let's get real here; turning off motion controls on Splatoon?! What is Justine doing here?
I thought the conference was bad. The only thing I liked was the new trailer of the new Fire Emblem game. In my opinion the new Star Fox game looked really bland and from the gameplay I saw, the game didn't look fun to me. They spent way too much time on games we already know about (the new Yoshi game and Mario maker) and showed trailers of games we've seen already. This conference is down there with EA for worst conference of E3.
"no respect" hahaha
Whoa four months difference for usa owners of yoshi wolly world, how did that happen
Tim's inability to admit what bad shape Nintendo are in is painful to watch... Colin is justifiably annoyed by this :)
