As a canadian, you must realize my eyes were blinded with tears after this. until pierre mcguire ruined one of the greatest moments in canadian hockey history
I remember my late grandfather watching this game when they scored the game tying goal, he was jumping around in the living room like a kid, that’s how exited he got when Canada tied it, aww I miss you every single day gramps
10 years later and I realized something about "Tavares' Magical Play" If the Russian defender was not there to block the shot. It probably would have fluttered into the goalies glove and he would have froze the play, costing Canada the gold. A (poor) desperation play by Tavares was saved by a misplay by the Russian defender, and cleaned up by Eberle. Can you believe it?
Thankfully, my memory of this goal isn't ruined by Pierre's idiocy. I jumped sky high after the goal and ran screaming around my house. The last thing I heard before barreling up the stairs was "Can't you believe it!?!"
I will NEVER forget this moment. I literallly almost passed out, i was pretty tipsy while watching this and when ths happend I jumped up and fell to my knees feeling all flush. AMAZING game and AMAZING moment in hockey!!!
I remember listening to this on a staticy, fading A.M. radio station, as I was driving back to BC, from Alberta in a raging snow storm. I was white knuckling the steering wheel from trying to stay on the road, and also listening to the radio commentary. When Eberle put it in, I near drove off the road trying to avoid slamming into a semi.
This is why I absolutely love Eberle. I can't not smile when watching this.. In fact I almost want to cry tears of happiness like I did in the very moment. -3 Ebs
i was about to put my head in my hands, i thought this game was over for sure. this has to be one of the best moments in WJC history during one of the best WJC tournaments ever.
Always crazy to look back at these Gold medal teams and take in the top end NHL talent they had...Tavares, Eberle, Ellis, Subban, even Hodgson had a nice little cup of coffee in the show
This instantly stormed to #5 on my all-time list in any sport, a list that includes the Summit Series, Mike Weir, Salt Lake, Joe Carter, and Donovan Bailey.
If it was anyone's magical play it should Ellis's play , that kid busted his balls on that play to keep the puck in , and Tavares took a crappy desperate back hander towards the net and Eberle finished , that play all started cause of Ellis he should get love not Tavares
i was at that game. every few months or so i come on youtube to rewatch this goal. shame eberle didn't make the oilers team. i have a video of the crowd celebrating after the goal, check it out its unreal how loud the arena was!
to me, the best part is that instead of panicking and shovelling the puck towards the net in desperation, jordan eberle had the presence of mind to actually make a deke.....just WOW
Can somebody please agree that before "Eberle's beautiful goal" and "Tavares' magical play" was Ryan Ellis smashing his entire body into the boards to keep that puck in the zone?
This was definately the highlight of the year. that will be top 10 plays of the 2009 year. 2010 WJ coming soon, I cant wait, and then the Olympics, well lets just say Canada is bringing home 3 hockey gold medals by the end of february :)
I can, because of the fact that, Klyukin ices the puck, and look at the Russian body language now, they're crushed. Tavares had to step up and make a magical play. The crowd loves it, Tavares' magical play...
i was at this game. every now and then i youtube for this video, and it still makes me smile! for me, this goal was way more memorable than sid's OT winner.
Awesome goal. Me my dad and my brother were watching the game in the village of Anmore British Columbia, Our house went nuts when we scored. Epic lols @ giner kid at :47.
He didn't just take the puck and backhand it. One of the Russians tried to cover it, and Eberle had the quick hands to drag it a bit, then he stickhandled and put it in on the backhand. That takes skill. Regardless it was a team effort and it never would've happened without Tavares because he put it towards the goal in the first place and Ellis kept it in. And how do you know Tavares is a better player than Eberle? Eberle had a fantastic rookie season in the NHL and he leads the WJ in pts.
@QuiatFat Absolutely true. Three fantastic individual efforts capped by Eberle's amazing deftness. Never has to look at the puck because his whole body knows where everything is: puck, stick, the goalie, the Russian defenceman, and the goal mouth. Great pick by the Oilers. This play shows how individual Canadian stars know how to work as a team.
I CAN, BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT KULIPKIN, ICED THE PUCK! LOOK AT THE RUSSIAN BODY LANGUAGE NOW, THEYRE CRUSHED! TAVARES HAD TO STEP UP AND MAKE A MAGICAL PLAY, THE CROWD LOVES IT! TAVARES’ MAGICAL PLAY!
this was a steller team and the year before that was too i love watching team canada teams that dont have like a crosby or lemieux or just one player to look for this team had all sorts of superstars tavares, eberl, subban, hodgseon, ellis etc
RHETORICAL QUESTION, PIERRE.
I cringe every time i hear the answer to the question. Also he said yes when the answer was no.
I’m dying 😂😂😂😂
The announcer was so stunned he didn’t even respond to his dumb comment
Bro he just pops his bubble instantly hahah.
Great goal and great call......until Pierre opens his mouth
I know man
MsC Knight I CAN!
+Mlbbeatthestreak12 TOTALLY. believe it or not, when Pierre was the Habs' radio guy, he was very very not that bad. Once he got on TV tho...
Have I ever got news for you buddy ruclips.net/video/5j9J0oZmBeY/видео.html
The "I can" is actually more legendary than the goal
I CAN
BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT
KLYUPKIN
ICED THE PAHK
The “WHOOP” at 1:14 didn’t help much either lmao
When there's a great moment like this and someone says "Can you believe it?", you don't say "Yes I can!".
I'm rewatching this right now and the same thought popped in to my head. Pierre really ruined the moment
"Do you believe in miracles?" "YES!" Was a pretty good and famous call...
'because of that fact that...'
the other commentator was honestly retarded
Pierre ruined a memory for all Canadians
As a canadian, you must realize my eyes were blinded with tears after this. until pierre mcguire ruined one of the greatest moments in canadian hockey history
Yes, Tavares magical play was what everyone was cheering about Pierre you got it
"CAN YOU BELIEVE IT???"
"i can" -________-
BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT KLYUKIN ICES THE PUCK
@@TheBasedDogg "THE CROWD LOVES IT TAVARES MAGICAL PLAY" lmao
JEDN3002 WOOP
I love how Gord just takes a moment and doesn’t speak to reflect on Pierre’s stupidity
😂😂
This is why Pierre Mcguire does not work in Canada anymore
Well well well how the turntables…
LOL, Ottawa Senators just hired him.
@@moskillz76 lol the Ottawa Senators just fired him.
Responding to 8 year old comments, are we?
One of the greatest calls every by Gord Miller, only to be ruined fractions of a second later by Pierre Mcguire
0:28 - 1:20, Gord Miller just stops talking and shaking his head because Pierre McGuire ruined the call.
Tavares' magical play
njyankeesfan 😂
My favourite call of all time, ruined by Pierre.
+LeroyBrown93 I wish someone would drop kick Pierre in the throat. I'm upset it hasn't happened yet.
+LeroyBrown93 I wish Ferraro was calling this game! :(
Sidney Crosby the golden goal!
“The crowd loves it!”
I remember my late grandfather watching this game when they scored the game tying goal, he was jumping around in the living room like a kid, that’s how exited he got when Canada tied it, aww I miss you every single day gramps
Nice tribute. Well done.
Always hurts to rewatch this, Pierre just had to make it his moment. “Tavares’ magical play”
Thanks Pierre for talking when you should be listening and ruining a perfect hockey moment

I CAN
BECAUSE OF THA FACK
I CAN! BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT KULIPKIN ICED THE PUCK
It was a shovel pass to Eberle, not a shot lol
Guaranteed replies
Thankfully, my memory of this goal isn't ruined by Pierre's idiocy. I jumped sky high after the goal and ran screaming around my house. The last thing I heard before barreling up the stairs was "Can't you believe it!?!"
I know!
The quote "CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!" is amazing, it just makes you pumped, then pierre is like..... I can. And kills it.
"Tavares' magical play" okay Pierre whatever you say
Killahh999 it was a good play to get the puck towards the goal but damn that was Eberle’s magical moment
I was at home watching this. It was my birthday yesterday, just like Ryan Ellis. What a great present ! All the way baby ! Drive for five !
The magical play here is Ryan Ellis stoping the the puck and keeping it in the zone Pierre
I CAN!
Ryan Ellis deserves all the credit in the world on this goal, it was a team effort, but, look how he kept that puck in, unreal
I will NEVER forget this moment. I literallly almost passed out, i was pretty tipsy while watching this and when ths happend I jumped up and fell to my knees feeling all flush. AMAZING game and AMAZING moment in hockey!!!
I was there in the crowd and remember me and everyone else in the crowd going crazy over Tavares’ magical play.
Gord miller should have slapped Pierre
HockeySnipes151 I wish someone would beat the voice right out of him.
Pierre is at ice level and Gord is in the booth or else he probably would've
@@evanritchey9479 probably would have ripped his headset of his head as well lol

That's pretty much the ultimate Prairie story wrapped up in 4 lines.
This is why I absolutely love Eberle. I can't not smile when watching this.. In fact I almost want to cry tears of happiness like I did in the very moment. -3 Ebs
I was on the team Canada bench when this puck went in. It was unreal!!! Never forget it
i was about to put my head in my hands, i thought this game was over for sure. this has to be one of the best moments in WJC history during one of the best WJC tournaments ever.
And then everyone put their head in their hands because of Pierre, anyways, how’ve the last 13 years been?
and 13 years later, connor bedard repeats history
I can't believe its already been 5 years of this, I remember it like it happened yesterday.
Doesn't matter how many times I see this, I always fight back tears of joy.
Pierre is such a buzzkill.
one of the greatest moments in canadian hockey, and he talks about the other team icing the puck.
I was so damn hysteric after that goal. One of the best games I've ever seen!
Always crazy to look back at these Gold medal teams and take in the top end NHL talent they had...Tavares, Eberle, Ellis, Subban, even Hodgson had a nice little cup of coffee in the show
The greatest game to watch on new years eve with all your family and friends
This instantly stormed to #5 on my all-time list in any sport, a list that includes the Summit Series, Mike Weir, Salt Lake, Joe Carter, and Donovan Bailey.
The little “whoop” gets me every time lol.
Ellis was the real mvp for blocking that icing
And it's not even close
Brian Cole why he's one of my favourite players ever
Best World Jrs ever. This game and the game against the US was some of the most entertaining hockey I have ever watched.
Does anyone know if there's an edited version with Pierre muted out so I can enjoy this amazing call made by gord miller
Brandon Radolf Ikr lmao
There actually is. i'll try to find it.
Type this into youtube: 'Jordan Eberle Goal WITHOUT PIERRE MCGUIRE World Juniors'
Every time TSN puts it in a top 10, they edit him out hahahah
Crying out loud, Pierre!
do you think his wife may be deaf
I remember this goal what a relief that was!! Tavares and Eberle the play along the boards made that goal happen! Epic 😁 definitely a favorite moment
Thank you Dangler
Best game of hockey i've ever seen.
The game was pretty sloppy all around. Exciting finish though
Pierre ruined it
one of my favourite calls by GORD Miller ever
this is so beautiful even the Russians were left speechless.
You heard it, Tavares' magical play.
Hodgson with the sick stick lift, to make the goal possible.
This is the best video on youtube.
Gives me chills everytime I watch it.
Love those boys.
I never thought my hero would be younger than me, but he is. Jordan Eberle!
I watched this with my neighbours at my house while our kids played hockey on my backyard rink. As Canadian as it gets!!!
to me, the best part is that instead of panicking and shovelling the puck towards the net in desperation, jordan eberle had the presence of mind to actually make a deke.....just WOW
Without a doubt THE best moment in the WJC. Hopefully there is another moment like this in Saskatoon/Regina next tournament.
Everyone around me was screaming I never took in that Pierre absolutely shat all over this moment lol
Can somebody please agree that before "Eberle's beautiful goal" and "Tavares' magical play" was Ryan Ellis smashing his entire body into the boards to keep that puck in the zone?
So many great Team Canada goals through the years. Ebs was sick though.
0:12 great defence work. If that puck goes out its over.
Its the "WHUP...5-5" that gets me 😂😂😂
WHAT A PLAY BY TAVARES!!
Thank you Pierre for telling us why exactly you CAN believe it

legendary call from the GOAT Pierre McGuire

Thanks Eberle, you're a great already.
I seriously cry every time I see this
this still gives me goosebumps every time i watch it
I watched it live ! What a feeling !
That was way to close. I was scared out of my mind. Way to go Eberle!
Way to kill the moment, Pierre. It should have been:
Gord: Loose puck, EBERLE SCORES!! TIE GAME!! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!!
Pierre: Total silence
He didn't just take the puck and backhand it. One of the Russians tried to cover it, and Eberle had the quick hands to drag it a bit, then he stickhandled and put it in on the backhand. That takes skill. Regardless it was a team effort and it never would've happened without Tavares because he put it towards the goal in the first place and Ellis kept it in. Look at that Crowd holy crap
I love how Eberle scored one of the biggest goals in Canadian history and all Pierre can talk about is John Taveras.
For every call Pierre does NOT make an angel gets its wings
Pierre reminds me of Ron from GTA V
@Mohamed518 Or even Ellis who kept the puck in at the blue line - he deserves the title more than Tavares for sure!
Eberle is a WJHC legend..
I CAN, BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT KULIPKIN, ICED THE PUCK! LOOK AT THE RUSSIAN BODY LANGUAGE NOW, THEYRE CRUSHED! TAVARES HAD TO STEP UP AND MAKE A MAGICAL PLAY, THE CROWD LOVES IT! TAVARES’ MAGICAL PLAY!
the roar of the crowd at 0:25

chills running down my back
Its one thing to watch it on t.v... but to be there was just facking amazing....
Eberle was the steal of the draft. And he's continuing his clutch ways for the Oilers.
Nice way ruin the vibe lmao...
Can you believe it !!!
Pierre: I can 🙋♂️
Ellis with a huge play keeping the puck
Tavares with a hand backhanding the puck and
Eberle with the biggest play of the year
the crowd didnt care about what tavares did...
they cared about eberle tying the game
If only Team Canada had Jordan Eberle tonight..... =(
Canada vs Russia in WJC = unbeatable drama and excitement!
Tavares' magical play?! Tavares??? Sure, he played a part in it .... but damn Pierre, that was 90% Eberle.
this was a steller team and the year before that was too

What about the play by Ellis to keep the puck in? The kid has been making great plays at the line all tournament.
Ryan Ellis, in my opinion made this happen. Tavares helped, and Eberle finished.
I was at this game with my dad. best moment of my life
This goal will go down as Tavares’ magical play in Canadian lore
