    The original rectifier AmpKnob sounds so good, I don't even bother using my real rectifier or AxeFx3 to record. It's EQ'd so nice. And it's so easy. I'm buying this bundle today.

    This is my biggest dissapointment in all of my plugin history. I have paid my hard earnt money for rubbish. I always try and test out diffrent plugins see how they go. Support the creators. But i will def be hesatant in the future to pay for another borgen product. I have there kemper profiles and they were great. But honestly dont waste your time on this. Seriously its terrible.

    How many different companies are gonna release the same amp sims over and over again? They all sound basically the same. People are chasing a perfect tone that flat out doesn't exist.

    • @beastlybeast2716
      @beastlybeast2716 Год назад +5

      I think the main goal with this one is achieving a certain flavor of sound in just the turn of a single knob. It’s a solid idea. Multiple amps using this concept was a no brainer once I saw the first one release.

      They sound far from the same. The thing is to make them as real as possible. Only this year they start to compete with hardware like the Kemper.
      Tonex is a good example. You don't need a Quartex or Kemper to get a real life sounding tone

    I love AmpKnob - RevC and was really excited when these new BDH options came out, but man, what a let down. I wasn't even positive they sound different at all until I did a null test. Switching from the 5169 to the 6606 to the III altered the sound as much -- or less than -- simply changing mic position in a cab sim.
    I do dig the new features, though, and hope the RevC gets them in an update soon.

    • @Bogren.Digital
      @Bogren.Digital Год назад +7

      Updates to RevC are coming. We’re a bit surprised about your results, though. The 66o6+ is dramatically different from the other ones. Wild, spitty and raw.
      It was modeled based on a heavily modded amp we have here at the studio.

    • @ericolson326
      @ericolson326 Год назад +3

      @@Bogren.Digital I compared them to each other (and to RevC) both with their built-in cab simulations and with GetGood Cali. The stock IRs gave them a more noticeable difference, of course, but it was still more subtle than I'd expect from individual products.
      One possibility is that my studio monitoring situation is simply not as refined as that used during BDH development. As I am a simple home recording hobbyist, I acknowledge that this is almost 100% likely to be true. But if $1000 monitors are required to truly appreciate the nuances of $39 plugins, you may have misjudged your audience.
      Another possibility is that the differences between the BDH plugins get 'ironed out' as the gain increases. I made my comparisons with the gain knob(s) set to 7 -- the position it defaults to when double-clicked. Perhaps the tones are more varied at lower settings, which I again acknowledge is quite likely. (What's the saying? "More distortion = less personality" ?)

  • @FrancoW1
    @FrancoW1 Год назад +4

    It’s just too much of the same sound, again. Don’t get me wrong, they sound good and the simplicity is cool...Even if you could just work with presets in every other amp sim to save time and it would sound the same.
    Also, the sound/tone of all 3 is just too similar to my ears, they lack a distinct character.
    I tried all of them out and got bored after a few minutes, because it’s just the same thing over and over again.
    It’s not that I don’t like the concept, but the market is sooo oversaturated with amp and cab sims these days, that it’s hard to justify a price tag like this.
    My advice would be: If this is your first amp sim, then go for it! If you’re using some Neural DSP or comparable amp sims, then pass.

    Ironically, the only thing I "don't" like here, is the lack of a "scratch" mark for gain reference like on the mesa version lol (everyone thought that was the recommended gain)

    • @ericolson326
      @ericolson326 Год назад

      If you double click on the gain knob in any of the BDH plugins, it turns to 7 -- a little bit higher than the scratch mark on the RevC (which double-clicks to 0 for some reason).

    i think its kinda weird they picked 5150 style amps for these. 5150s arent exactly known for being hard to dial a good tone out of plus theres a bazillion plugins of them already. the mesa one made more sense imo. would be cool to seem some engl based ones though ive tried some engl plugins and personally find it a bit challenging to get a tone i like out of them. wasnt the whole point of these plugins to take the guesswork out of dialing tone anyway?
