Building Collapse in ADINA

In this ADINA training video, we show the steps to perform the collapse analysis of a building structure similar to the one we created in the previous training video using the ADINA special option “Low-Speed Dynamics”.
Collapse analysis may be required to provide redundancy to a new structural design, or to assess an existing asset. We may need to better understand ultimate load capacity and failure mechanisms of the structure, in order to avoid disproportionate collapse.
We may need to perform this type of analysis to assess the structure’s performance under extreme or accidental events such as earthquakes, fires or vehicle impact, or when a key structural member fails or is damaged. In this case, we show the collapse of a structure in the event of a sudden loss of support.
