I've got to thank you, Boss, for another weekly injection of positivity. It's cold and wet outside, the pubs are shut and the World's going to hell in a handbasket, but your videos always put a smile on my face. God Bless 👍
I know what you're saying cause we don't even make our own handbaskets :-D
God Bless.
Boss you have it all. I'm a loner and just cant convey how much I admire your setup
Thank you for saying so Jerry.
“Mission impossible wasn’t so impossible” I’ll carry those words around for awhile.
So will I!!! Words of Wisdom !! 🙏🙏🙏JanieD
Heaven Boss Heaven. Get a comfy folding chair put it in the greenhouse with your coffee.... Heaven.
The joy you get in your greenhouse makes me smile. I hope you always have the escape of your greenhouse!
You really look like a big kid) You didn't loose the ability to wonder and to learn smth new every day! It's absolutely awesome!
Wonderful, brings me great joy to see someone as yourself get to really enjoy these simple things, as I do also ! Stay warm & keep up the good works ! - Ron -
The boss will never grow old if he stays happy and enthused
In that opening sledding video I thought that you and Frankie were going down the mountain to town and upload a new video! Love it.
The smile in your voice every time you are talking about your greenhouse is worth every bit of firewood you use I think.
Agreed :-))
Great to see Frankie!
Things are looking great. Thanks for the lovely update so good to see the dogs again too! The greenhouse is really delightful, even with all the snow.
Enjoy your happiness good to see 🤗💖
I smiled the whole time with a few giggles!! Thank you, great job the both of you! Uplifting for sure😀🌻🪴🫑🍅🥗
Glad you enjoyed it :-)
Y’all rock on!
Appreciate you sharing the greenhouse and your love for it. I also love greenhouses and how they can uplift a grey winter day.
I really admire your attitude towards any tasks you take. I really enjoy your channel. I’ve learned a lot from you. This lifestyle can truly be peaceful if you let it!
Not an easy or convenient lifestyle but a good team makes it work, and the rewards are immeasurable.
Agreed :-)
Everybody needs a place that helps them smile. Glad you are enjoying yours.
Yes they do :-)
Thanks for another great video Boss. Y'all are reaping the benefits of hard work. Appreciate y'all keeping it real. In our thoughts and prayers. God Bless y'all and the fur babies ✌❤😁
Thank you Sandra and the same to you :-)
That's so awesome that the chipmunk germinated your seed back to you...thank you for another great video
Ahhh!!! It’s great to see the kids having fun 😂💕🎣🎣🎣
Happy and Free that’s the key ! 😉
Ha ha ha, JC it's great seeing you getting all gitty in the greenhouse. Love the experiments. I hope to find that feeling myself when I get one built. Say hello to Momma and pet the kids. Enjoy.
Your joy and observations of nature are good for the soul. ‘When they are about to open they (Petunias) look like they are going by’
JC everyone needs a sanctuary glad you have such a place
I do enjoy the greenhouse vids. James Taylor had to go "up on the roof", all you need do is go to the greenhouse. You got the better deal. Good vid.
Your video brings me a smile as always.
Happy to hear that Gary ;-))
The greenhouse is such a wonderful space. I also wanted to say i like the little clip at the end where you are pulling the kayak with Frankie sitting in it.
Thank you :-)
The greenhouse is a breath of fresh air, looking forward to making one ourselves, good job
I'm building a greenhouse this year. Going to use a car port framing with no roof. Very easy to put up. 1/4 barricaded wall with flat rock slabs that absorb heat and holds it. Which are call Soapstone. The rest is going to be a Double Plastic Layer Inflation System with air blown between them. Doing it this way, because didn't want to have to get a building permit or raise my property taxes. Easy to tear back down if need to.
@@gimcrack555, clever!
Yup those petunias and chard are as tough as you are. I'm glad you enjoy each other's company.!
Happy to see all is well on the mountain ! Been a great joy for me over the last couple years growing a garden ! Really enjoy it and year round .... that only makes it better ! Take care JC
All the best :-)
I really enjoy the content. Especially your experiments in the greenhouse. Wishing you and Lorie the best! THE KIDDOES TOO.
I love everything about this!
I love the chipmunk buried 🌻
JC, I’ve enjoyed watching you for years...liked you from day 1! I’ve learned a lot from you and even harbor a tinge of jealousy...Frankie was always there and added immensely to all the videos...but I gotta tell ya, since Laurie got in on the act, it’s so much more extra special! There’s a brighter spark ⚡️ in you having her in her starring role! So thanks for sharin that...it’s life on the mountain and, keepin alive that ole backwoods logic!! ❤️👊🏻🎯
Thanks buddy :-)
Looks great! I like the happiness that it brings you and Lori!
Thank you for saying so ;-))
Great opening scene, Boss! Franky loves going for rides with you. It just warms my heart to see you guys having fun. God bless you and yours! Love from the Judge
God Bless :-)
Boss, you are such a joyful example of living in gratitude❣
How bright your light on this visit in dreary mid January . . . . . That it perked me up like a droopy pepper plant, LOL
Loved hearing your voice of happiness, Lori & seeing how your flowers & winter veggies are doing, too.
🙏's & 🤗's
💞👵
So nice of you Ms Pat. Thank you :-))
Career councellors learn from books...not from Life...and now The Boss is a self-reliance Councellor! Lesson learned Lol
It's summer here, and the tomato plants out the back, once they're out of the soil, the plant looks dead, all yellowed and crunchy... But the top parts have crawled their way along the ground into some shade and are still green and fluffy, so I staked up the shadecloth, see if the base of the plant will recover with some cover from the sun
Thanks, Boss, another great vlog and so happy that you and Lori are still having a wonderful crop in January. Stay safe and well. Hugs from the UK xx
Thank you and the same to you Ann :-)
Willow trees have a substance in them that causes rooting to happen. Cut a bunch of willow branches into 4 inche pieces and put them into a bucket of water. Use that to water your cuttings.
😎🎸
Wish we had willows around.
Glad to see you so dam happy keep it up brother
Thanks! Will do!
Gotta love Chipmunk gardening!
Love the picture of you and Laurie✨
Thank you, Me too :-)
I always look forward to your videos coming out and they're always so fun and inspiring to watch! Thank you for making them 🙂
Glad you like them and thanks for taking the time to say so :-)
Yep what or why wouldn't we known. Another AWESOME video. Thanks you too for sharing. Blessings to you and your family
Blessings to you too Rick :-)
You can grow dwarf fruit trees in your green house in pots also.
THANX SO MUCH! So happy
Love your enthusiasm
Love it Boss, thanks for an other awesome video!
Glad you enjoyed it! :-))
Looks like you've found your winter oasis !!! God Bless.
God Bless :-)
Your greenhouse and your wonderment are amazing!! Makes me smile through the whole video! Brightened up my whole day! Thank you!!
You are so welcome!
Thanks for sharing your amazing greenhouse and your lifestyle . Your words of wisdom always put me to thinking there's a better way of living than being in the rat race and driving ourselves crazy for what ? Life is just too short . God Bless .
Live Happy = Die Happy.
Thanks you my friend 💕💕💕
Have a nice day :-))
Chipmunks planting your greenhouse for you? Now that's just good backwoods logic. Take car and God bless.
God Bless.
Just had a chance to watch this one JC, loving the changes to the greenhouse. All the best sir. Cheers!
Thanks 👍
Don't give up on those peppers yet. They will need real worm soil. Put them close to the wood stove so the soil will worm up. I have made a metal shelf over a heater for stuff like that. Good luck!
JC, awesome video. Thanks for sharing the simple life on a mountain. Interesting how your soil was not frozen solid as it historically should be this time of year. Hey, remember that winter of ice you had a few years ago? Well, this year "they" hit my region with it. I've got 2 miles of thick ice down to the main road. 4 to 7 percent grade. V-bar tire chains on all 4 are getting used to the max this year. And I don't have a truck parked at the bottom of the ice! The weather schedule says the ice will last for at least a month or more and we will get more snow on top of it. Spring thaw is going to be a complete and messy bitch for sure.
I saw the video you took down and even wrote you a concerning contribution. I agree with you on so many levels and live the same as you do on even more levels. Even in our carpentry skills. We both live out in the sticks on a mountain. Doesn't it feel like some days that the world is closing in to fast? There's been so many city folks move into my region this last year it's down right scary. To bad they didn't leave the city in the city.
From far north central WA, 3,100 ft elevation and glad to be here for many years now.
Love and strength my friend I have not met, yet, 'a' simple horseman
Only 2 of us left on the road with NH plates. I know what you're saying brother :-x
willow branches have rooting compounds in them. Just take a small piece of branch n crush it. Stick it in the water with whatever you want roots on. You could also crush some and let them sit in the water a few days before you use the water.
I would if we had willows around :-)
Boss, experimental gardening is a learning curve. You show us how trail and possible error are certainly worth the time and effort. The possible benefits are fantastic. Thanks Boss, another inspiring video, so much food for thought. Keep on Keeping on my friend. Always Great to hear from you all in your videos. God Bless and thank you...
Thank you and the same to you Albert :-)
J.C., you and Lori are the "RUclipsr" version of the "Old Farmers Almanac"~ I don't know if you read them, but they always have interesting quips and tips to help folks out....just like you do! I truly enjoy watching your channel! Look forward to the next video! God Bless Always! Lou~
Thank you Lou and the same to you and yours :-)
Win, win!! Stay safe!!
Add a greenhouse to the side of the cabin. Call it the conservatory and have your morning coffee and breakfast in there.
I'll be discussing this soon.
I love your story, your attitude & your success❣❣
Thank you for saying so :-)
Plants are amazing! In my experience peppers all like heat and not too much water Makes sense they came from Mexico It took me two seasons to get those really Hot little orange peppers to produce I kept them alive in Pa over winter God Bless ya all
God Bless.
I remember sledding as a kid using the hood from a 56 Ford.It worked great, except we couldn't steer it!
I LOVE your greenhouse and all the experiments. We are always experimenting here as well, but we don’t have a greenhouse. I love the gifts from your chipmunks. One year we had some mice stealing sunflower seeds from the birdseed bag. Throughout that winter I kept finding little sunflowers mysteriously growing in the houseplants. I was perplexed and then it donned on me as to how they got there 🙂 The mice haven’t been so successful this year 😉
Just found your channel today. Really enjoy it and your dog Frankie. I am now a subscriber. What a enjoyable new channel for us. Thank You. 👍😁
Welcome aboard and thanks for subbing :-)
Does my heart good to see the green house AND you thriving!
The back of our house was situated for a 🌱 green house and porch. Your design would work fine. I like your wood stove, plus our kitchen wood stove it just to one side of the back kitchen door. This past week I have opened the door to let out some of the heat that could be going into a green house.... You SHOULD be excited about living the simple life and your accomplishments. While your Nashua school councilors were telling you that wanting to live in the woods was going backwards.... one of my parents ( and I love my parents) was telling me that their efforts to better themselves and live in the suburbs wasn't done... so that I COULD BE A FARMER! That I was going backwards. Year was 1968. Fast forward to 2021.
Jim & I are living and working on his family farm and positively thriving! We are well, healthy and happy, with organic food on the table and plenty of dry wood for winter ❄❄❄. It is a cold rainy day here and we are toasty warm and hoping for a promising new year. Our rural neighbors are working together. We are trading goods and services. Also being there for one another in an emergency.
That said , your sanctuary is what Jim & I are striving for in our corner of the woods 🌲🌲🌲
We got 8" or so of snow and now it's raining. The jeep is halfway down the mountain with what i think is a blown fuel pump. Life is good just the same :-))
I became aware of your channel a short time ago one rainy day and enjoyed it very much. Well unfortunately my wife and I had to take two weeks and quarinteen, thanks covid. All is well on that front. We dont watch regular tv and have enjoyed your no nonsense strait forward entertainment as well as you tips on every day life thank you we love the channel.
Glad to hear you're enjoying my ramblings Allen and best of luck through this pandemic. Stay strong.
Enjoyed this post a lot. Thanks Boss. It's been a cold, wet, cloudy winter on our mountain down here in SW Virginia too.
Outstanding Boss.
Just got a couple of regular seed trays will seed them next week when I get home.
I dont have a good place for the floating ones right now.
Working on it.
Well ,,,,,,it is all your fault😁we now have wood all over a corner of our yard where we think a green house 🏠 will go
We loved how you so enjoy yours and it made us remember our old little green house at our old house
The planning has begun, THANKS so much for a good swift kick
Good luck with your project :-)
I have found the same thing here in Scotland. My neighbor had pansies at the beginning of winter and I thought why bother. Boy was I surprised!
I would call that a success.
I was thinking, maybe you could get a few grow lights hooked up to the solar power bank to extend the "daylight" exposure after the sun goes down for a few extra hours for the plants sensitive to lower temperature and less daylight. Might not be worth the trouble but it might get you by the last few months of winter in a pinch. Love the greenhouse, it looks like a wonderful place to sit and drink a morning coffee!
I'd run lights if I could but we're on the wrong side of the mountain and solar is limited right now. Either way, I'm having fun with it ;-))
Oh wow! You were serious about the chipmunk? I saw that on your Patreon video but thought you were kidding. LOL I'm so glad you have that greenhouse and you should be proud as heck that you and Lori built it! You're not kidding about how new Petunia blossoms look like a dying flower. One has to be very careful when deadheading them as I found out the hard way. Great video, as usual JC.
Yep, the chipmunks planted them all over the place and you're certainly right about those blossoms. I can see how they get deadheaded by accident :-x
Hi Boss and Laurie
It's great to see your still getting tomatoes in January. that's more than a Greenhouse it's a Happy House !! Take care everyone. All the best from England.
"Happy House" 😊
I sure enjoy all your videos
Thank you for saying so :-)
I will give you a nugget. A gentleman that grew mums and sold them at farmers market said tp get a full mum that is not leggy. In the spring when the mum grows about 2 ft, cut it in half. Side shoots will develope. Let it do the same thing again. The third ti,e just let it grow and bloom. them in the fall cut it off to the base after the blooms dry the cut, water and fertilize put in green house and start all over. You could divide it ect. As you say, expers, emt. Blessings.
Thank you Mary ;-)
BIG SMILE
Hi Boss and Bossett , your Blessed to have the skills to build a Green House. I dragged my Pablano inside to try and save it and the Noseeums started to Hatch and bite me , so out it went!
Big storm a coming , enjoy.
JO JO IN VT 💕😄☃
Stormed through the night and now my jeep is halfway down the mountain with a blown fuel pump. Will we survive? :-D
Your videos are super with great content. However your voice and narration are second to none. I could see you doing voice overs for documentaries. Good Stuff.
Thank you for saying so :-)
I know you have a wood stove in there but I don't get the sense you keep it lit all the time. Do you? If not, how do you keep it from going below freezing temps day and night?
Since so many have asked, I'll discuss this in my next vlog.
Greetings from PEI Boss. From my experience, light is the key, not as much as heat. Cut back that pepper, so it looks like a Charlie Brown Christmas tree and it will come back. Your greenhouse has worked out well and with longer days, you are on the upside. I have two greenhouses that are not attached, I plant my spinach in March. You and I are almost same age and I'm the same "No complaints". Roast Pork and chicken soup on stove last night, life is good
I do believe you're right about that :-)
It’s great to see your significant other in your videos and really appreciate your Patreon content.
Thank you my friend :-)
All those trees you have you gotta have a willow tree, cut some branches put in a bucket of water, put those pepper cuttings in the water and if it going to re-root it will.. Willow trees put off something like what you get in a bottle if root stimulator. Best part It's FREE.. lol 😆
No willows up here but I did try rooting hormone and no luck yet.
I really like your show 😎
Glad you enjoy it!
HEY Boss ,Great greenhouse. Here's another experiment . TRY putting in a few LED growlights , I hear they don't use much energy and it might sub, in times of darker days . IT would be an interesting project and if it works yummy vegetables in winter . Great videos Boss .
I would but we don't have enough solar on this side of the mountain.
Nice candy store, boss.
I loved your story about high school. Most of government mandated "schooling" is both a waste of huge amounts of time, but are destructive indoctrination programs that have infested even all private schools and govt. regulated home schooling curricula. You have the true pioneer spirit that made America great in the past!
You can do cuttings from the chrysanthemum it is about the right size now.
A late happy new year to ya boss. All the the best to you sir 👍
Thank you and the same to you :-)
Pansies are soooooo hardy! They can bloom with snow on them in the spring!
The pepper stalks may have been too woody to push out roots. Next time try cuts from newer growth.
Good point.
I bet you enjoy living up there now with everything that's going on
Indeed :-)
Thank you for all your knowledge God bless my friend
God Bless :-)
Love to see happy ,be blessed
Happy is the way to be :-)
