I don’t understand all these negative comments. Read the instructions and it is amazing. Cleans nicely, NO haze. Clean as you go. Work in small areas. Used with ceramic and glass tile. Absolutely fantastic.
Just want to say that this product is great. I just finished tiling my shower and used the flexcolor cq silver against a white ceramic subway tile. For being my first time grouting, it came out awesome because of the work-ability and ease of cleaning after its laid down. Not that I can compare against other brands as I've never grouted before, but am satisfied with the product itself. I do have to comment that even though the installation instructions say to wait 8-10 minutes to wipe off, I didn't follow this. I ended up wiping off the product immediately after I laid down a small section equivalent to the size in this video. There is no need to let this product sit on the face of the tile. It doesn't belong on the face of the tile, so why let it sit there and chance it drying too much. The longer it sits on the face, the harder it will get over time and more difficult to remove. Take my word for it and do small sections at a time. Apply grout to the small section, and remove immediately after. The sponge won't touch the grout in the grooves anyway while your cleaning the face of the tile, so it won't mess up the lines in the grout as you clean. Also change out the bucket of water frequently as stated int he instructions as the water gets hazy from the cleaning. I also suggest putting down blankets and covering up your tub as the product is messy putting it on vertical walls. Overall though, great product. Will definitely use it again for another project.
Hello AJ, thank you for your feedback and we are happy you love working with Flexcolor CQ! You are correct, this product works best if you clean-as-you-go. Acrylic grouts are trickier to work with on a wall application as you experienced. We always recommend protecting the floor, or tub in your case, prior to grouting a wall. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions at (800) 992-6273
Preofessional tile installer here and I use this grout on every project I can get away with using it on. The amount of wiping and time I spend cleaning this grout up blows all other grout out of the water. The only thing with this grout is you gotta make sure you do your cleaning wipes way sooner then you would traditional grouts.
Hi Michael, thank you for your feedback! Flexcolor CQ is an easy-to-use product, but you are correct that you must get to the initial clean sooner than standard grout. Have a great day.
Reading the comments on various videos it seems that the ones who have the most complaints about Flexcolor CQ are more experienced grouters. The first-timers seem to consistently love the stuff. Maybe those with more experience tend to treat it like regular grout whereas DIYers focus on the instructions?
Hello Skeepee, thank you for your comments. Flexcolor grout definitely requires a different application and cleaning method versus standard grout. If someone uses it as they would cement grout then yes, they could have issues with it.
I used tis do do my Kitchen Back Splash --- The tiles were put in place using a sticky backing - it was an area of 12" x 4' -- and using this technique - and this was my 1st tile job --- I was done in 2.5 hrs with everything ... Don't be scared to use this ... I did a 2x2 section at a time... and started cleaning after each section was grouted ... then, when it was totally complete - I went back to start a final cleaning from where I started .... I had a stone/glass mixed of tile.... in n no time the whole project was complete ... tile backing in the kitchen looks great!!! The whole project turned out alot better than if I hired someone. Use this product.
Ok so I watched the videos and read the comments and concerns with this product together with my fiancé. We are tractors and neither of us have laid and grouted tile in or combined 25 years experience . With that said she grouted the tile in our home by herself flawlessly no haze or issues.
I loved the results on my kitchen floor, but litterally you need to clean after like 2min. I would clean after 3min, and I still have some haze I need to remove... the acid cleaners don't work either, I'm about to go buy the mapei specific haze remover for it. It's a good product but probably better for highly experienced contractors.
Hello and thank you for reaching out! You are correct, Flexcolor CQ does require a clean-as-you-go cleaning method. Our recommended haze remover is our Ultracare Heavy-Duty Stone, Tile & Grout Cleaner. Apply undiluted to the affected area, allow it to dwell for about 10 minutes (do not let it dry- mist with water if necessary) and then scrub with a white nylon scrub pad or kitchen scrub brush and rinse well. If you have additional questions please Product Support us at (800) 992-6273
Cleaning Flexcolor its really hard compared to traditional Grouts. It leaves a residue that is really hard to get rid of, and trust me, i know how to grout..
Hello Chico44: We appreciate the feedback! Flexcolor CQ does take a bit of technique altering, as it does not install exactly like traditional cement grouts. This grout is best applied in smaller areas at a time, and cleaned up quickly after spreading. To keep that pesky haze away, be sure to use a medium to hard rubber grout float (or even an epoxy float) and when you start your first haze cleaning, use a moistened nylon scrub pad before wiping with the grout sponge (this will suspend the grout in water making it easier to wipe up). If you need some more tips and tricks, please give our Technical Services Product Support Department a call at 1-800-992-6273. Thank you very much for your interest in MAPEI products!
Very important to only work for only 5-7 minutes and then completely rinse/clean up the small area you were grouting. You need to clean it so it looks like the finished product. If you don’t do this the haze will be very hard to remove.
It's considered an epoxy so you need to treat it as such....real epoxy is murderous to keep up with and clean.... actually takes 2 people minimum and using mek or acetone as a rinse cycle... it's brutal... like trying to bondo a whole car before it sets up and do a cleanup....it's why you don't see very many people doing true epoxy anymore
i have used various other types of grout ( as a home owner) I just used this for my shower tile and it's absolutely THE WORST stuff I've used.. I've watched videos , read instructions everything was fine. I thought this will be easy.. Hardest grout job i've ever done and looks absolutely NOTHING like the consistency in this video.. it was just clumpy and falling off all over the place wouldn't stick to nothing.. Eventually I added few drops of water in the mix ( even though comment section reply on previous post said not to ) it was my only resort. It helped only slightly. I without a doubt will never use this product again and really question the " hype " behind Mapei.. Maybe I just got a bad batch of a new mix or something but Not something I want to deal with when i'm finishing out a job in my house!
Hi Aaron, Thank you for reaching out! If you believe the product is too thick we can certainly check for expiration. Please email productsupport@mapei.com with your inquiry and we can start a conversation to determine what might be happening.
I just used this for tiling a bathroom shower/tub area and the consistency is a 180 from that shown in the video. I recently, also, laid tile and used the Ultracolor Plus FA grout (not premixed) and the consistency is like what is shown in the video. I was able to actually get it into the grout lines. I would get the grout on my float, try spreading it, and it would just all fall off. It was like wet sand; nothing like the Ultracolor Plus FA grout. I should also mention there’s a pretty strong smell to it, which I wasn’t expecting. To add, the sponge that came with the grout was completely soaked with a liquid that was sitting on the top of the grout, even though it was wrapped in plastic packaging. I love our flooring grout; looks great! I do not like look of the bathroom grout. Thankfully, we’re selling this house so it’s not my problem much longer.
Hello Ashley, thanks for your feedback. Flexcolor CQ is an acrylic grout and will absolutely work differently than a cement-based grout- it is a thinner consistency. Please call us at (800) 992-6273 to speak to an advisor on how we can help you.
Let me tell y'all something....I don't know what they did to make this CQ grout clean up so easily, but it does not work that way. I wouldn't DARE wait 8 min before "attempting" to clean CQ grout. If you wait more than 2 min, it will already be dry on the surface of the tile. Ever tried cleaning epoxy residue??? It sucks! Use Excel grout from The Tile Shop. Who cares if you have to mix a little grout! It takes a lot less time to mix a little grout than clean up the mess that this CQ grout leaves behind! Show us this same demonstration on a shiny tile like marble. Then show us an angle view so everyone can see the crappy epoxy residue left behind. I dare you to wait 8 min before cleaning it up too!
Hello Tony, Thank you for the feedback! We are incredibly sorry to hear that your experience with Flexcolor CQ has been less than favorable. For perspective, this video was shot under as close to ideal conditions as possible in order to showcase the product at its full potential. Job-site conditions, tile used, application technique and etc. can all vary quite a bit which will ultimately affect the way any product will perform. With premixed acrylic products like Flexcolor CQ, getting the haze off of the tile while the material is still fresh/wet is key, and don’t be afraid to use a little more water to do so than you normally would with cement grout. Having a white nylon scrubpad on hand is quite helpful too if you are grouting a tile with lots of tiny surface pores (like polished materials) to scrub the residue off. Again, we apologize for the troubles you have experienced with Flexcolor CQ and please know that you are welcome to give us a call at 1-800-992-6273 with any questions, comments, concerns, or if you just want to talk products. Thank you for your feedback on our products.
My first tile job on a kitchen 15x7 with big format tiles came out nice very Esau to used and was my first time, I’m doing anther tile job on a bigger kitchen and living room, and I’m looking for any reviews on how well does on the stains. Any ideas on something you that I can used like a sealer to make it maintain the color longer ?
Hello, thank you for reaching out. We are happy you enjoyed working with Flexcolor CQ. It is highly stain resistant, but needs routine maintenance. For regular cleaning we recommend our Ultracare Concentrated Tile & Grout Cleaner. If you have areas that require a more aggressive clean, then our Ultracare Heavy-Duty Stone, Tile & Grout Cleaner is perfect. This product is an occasional use cleaner, not regular, weekly use. Once cleaned, you can seal the grout for extra protection with our Ultracare Penetrating Stone, Tile & Grout Sealer. If you choose another manufacturer's sealer make sure it is a water-based penetrating sealer- no solvents! Please contact us at (800) 992-6273 if you have additional questions.
Had a client insist I use this product on their shower...thankfully I have worked with Fusion Pro (which also sucks), so it wasn't a disaster, but wouldn't ever use it on any of my other jobs. I liken it to sanded paint as it has no body to it and doesn't add any strength to the installation (as Prism and Power Grout do). The funniest part was the client selected white (as she was told it was a true white by the salesman at the tile store, and she was adamant against using Prism Bright White because she though it would be too yellow), The "White" Flexcolor dried with a nice yellow hue.
Hi Justin, thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. We are sorry you do not like working with Flexcolor CQ. Our brightest white is #38 Avalanche, not #00 White. We apologize that your customer was given incorrect information. Please call our Product Support line at (800) 992-6273 to discuss what happened and how we may be able to help you.
Hello Brian F, Thank you for reaching out! If you believe the product is too thick we can certainly check for expiration. Please email productsupport@mapei.com with your inquiry and we can start a conversation to determine what might be happening.
I am looking for a true black un-sanded grout my glass tile. Brand X grout is a darker color of black. I like it better only from that perspective. Does Mapei have a true black color?
Hello India, thank you for your inquiry. It is not possible to compare one manufacturer's black grout from another as shade and color are subjective. I recommend mixing a small amount and do a small mock up to confirm that it is the correct shade of black you are looking for. Please call our Product Support line at (800) 992-6273 if you wish to discuss in detail.
I noticed the consistency of the CQ grout in this video is fairly fluid. I watched another recently released video of a tile installer using CQ. I noticed the consistency was at least twice as thick and much harder to spread. The product was brand new. In this situation, can CQ be thinned at all?
Hello Ken, thank you for taking the time to provide feedback! There may have been some consistency changes as this video is from 2014. You cannot thin this product out; we do not recommend adding anything to it. Even potentially being thicker than this video, it is very easy to spread into the grout joints. Please feel welcome to call our Product Support line at (800) 992-6273 if you would like to discuss this further! Have a great day.
Awesome thanks. I picked up some MAPEI epoxy grout cleaner and it did the trick. 1 more question. In my haste to clean up I mistakenly swiped the acrylic tub wall with the grout sponge. It was my final sponge wiper with almost clean water. It left a dull look to the new acrylic wall in spots. Any thoughts on getting that sparkle back. Probably a slight haze. I tried just a damp microfiber cloth but that didn't do the trick. Man I'm learning the hard way.
+BZ1340 The epoxy grout haze remover is designed to break down the resins that make up epoxy grouts so it makes sense that it would dull the tub. You may have to experiment a bit to get the shine back. It’s possible that one of the products designed to restore headlights would work to return the shine.
BZ1340 , Your experience has helped me . I will cover up any areas where other materials meet with tile/ stone. We are only getting paid to grout the stone, not anywhere else, lol. So, your question has been of benefit to another tiler, and l thank thee.
I've tried this product on 4 different floor installs. I cannot get rid of the grout residue on certain spots of the tile. What's the secret. I rinsed the floor 4 times with clean water after the grout application. Working in a 3x3 sq ft area at a time.
+BZ1340 There are a few hints that make residue much less of an issue. Spritz the floor with a light mist of water before starting to grout. Grout in small areas and then immediately go back to start cleaning, first with a fairly aggressive rotary motion to loosen up the haze followed by a diagonal drag with the full width of the sponge to remove it. If residue does happen to survive this method, MAPEI offers some grout haze removing products that can help. Give us a call at (800) 992 6273 to talk through your situation and let us help you resolve it.
💜DISPOSAL-Not down your drains💰Vaseline on my hands before, during & after work with this stuff even with the best latex gloves. Wish they sold the stuff in caulk or toothpaste like tubes for more precision or touchup🤞🙏
I've done it with a cake decorating bag& then packed it in & then washed it down less mess, I've even did it with a caulking gun, that I rinsed out from a latex based caulk, it saved me a lot of time.
Just finished using this grout and the glue haze just won't come off. I've used this multiple times and it's never been easy to use. Now I have to buy a chemical haze remover to finish. Would never recommend this product. In fact, I wouldn't recommend any pre mixed grout. Especially this one.
Any reason mapei guy fakes squeezing the sponge so he applies on wet tile and cleans with a soppy wet sponge when brand x guy squeezes out the sponge so he applies on almost dry tile and cleans with an almost dry sponge?
Hello Jon: Great catch! While there is not a big difference in the amount of water in the 2 sponges on the video, the Brand X product’s instructions recommended cleaning with “a well-wrung out sponge” whereas Flexcolor CQ can be cleaned with a wetter sponge. Nearly all premixed grouts on the market (like this Brand X) still use free pigments and dyes to add color to the product. These pigments can be washed out with too much water, leaving a much lighter final product. Flexcolor CQ does not use any pigments or dyes, instead the color is attached to the aggregate in the product meaning the color cannot be washed away. So, with Flexcolor CQ water is not the enemy; it is very similar to cleaning epoxy grout. Thanks for watching our video, and if you ever want to chat, feel free to give us a call at 1-800-992-6273.
This product does not spread as easily or have the smooth consistency, that's shown in this video. I just finished my backslash and I will never use this product again. I followed the instruction in the container. This stuff falls off the float(constantly) and doesn't get in the cracks very well. Color is nice , but granules are big. Looks like a sanded grout. Clean up is ok. I've use Spectalock 1 before. That stuff is way better. Smooth, gets in the cracks very easily. Clean up is harder. Finished product looks smoother. It's double that price of CQ and worth every dollar. They didn't have the color we wanted. So, I gave CQ a go. Never again. I spent the same amount of time spreading it as trying to keep it on the float. Will go Spectralock 1 100 times out of 100 times.
Hello Ray, thank you for your feedback! We are sorry you did not have a good experience with Flexcolor CQ. It acts similarly to epoxy in that on vertical applications it wants to slump- it's the nature of the product. It will also work differently than Spectralock as Spectralock is an epoxy grout, whereas Flexcolor CQ is an acrylic-based grout. We encourage you to call in to our Product Support line at (800) 992-6273 to discuss applying Flexcolor CQ successfully. Have a great day.
Hello, thank you for your inquiry! We do not recommend adding water to our Flexcolor CQ to thin it out. Please call our Product Support line so we can check to make sure it hasn't expired. Our phone number is (800) 992-6273
Hello Chloe, thank you for reaching out! Do not worry, we have a cleaning protocol for Flexcolor haze. Please email Product Support at productsupport@mapei.com and ask for our haze removal method.
5 and 10 minutes? The 1 gallon jug I just bought and used TODAY (13, January 2021) shows 15 to 30 minutes. OMG, what a pain in the ass to clean up. I spent 5 times more time cleaning this sticky slop up than grouting. WHY?
Hello Jason, thank you for your comments. We are sorry you had trouble with Flexcolor CQ. We encourage you to call our Product Support line at (800) 992-6273 to discuss this matter and to see how we may be able to assist you.
My contractor used this grout, which I picket out, in my shower and around my tub as it goes well with the sea glass tile. The grout has many holes in it with brown around the holes. It looks like the grout it's washing away from the water in the shower. I also use "Clean Shower" spray to clean the shower. Is it too strong for the grout? I regrouted the shower where needed and have not used it since. I went to Floor and Decor to ask them what to do. They gave me a sealer to use and told me to seal everything at least seven days after re-grouting. I sealed the grout around the tub (which has never been wet) and when I went to wipe it off, there are now numerous holes in this grout as well. I just regrouted this area. What is causing holes in the grout and how do I prevent it from happening? I need to be able to use my bathroom including the shower. I have pictures.
Hello Stacy, thank you for your inquiry! We are sorry you are having trouble with Flexcolor CQ. Pinholes are typically caused by improper forcing the grout into the joints then air bubbles come up through the grout joint. The good thing about Flexcolor CQ is that it will bond to itself so you can have your installer skimcoat the surface to fill in the pinholes. Please call our Product Support line at (800) 992-6273 if you wish to discuss it further.
Hi Stacy, regarding the "Clean Shower" spray, we do not recommend them at all; they are very caustic. You want to use a neutral cleaner such as our Ultracare Concentrated Tile & Grout Cleaner.
Hello, Flexcolor CQ is not considered sanded or unsanded. CQ stands for colored quartz- they are recycled colored quartz beads that we physically attach the pigment to. It has a texture like sand, and can scratch glass or soft stone surfaces like a sanded grout. We recommend that you do a mock up and test this grout on soft surfaces to confirm compatibility.
Your longer video (ruclips.net/video/vC4c9vo4T3k/видео.html) starts the grouting process with tile surfaces getting well-dampened, if not saturated with water. Not so here. Why?
Hello David, Thank you for your comment! This video does show pre-wetting the tile surface at the 20 second and 1:50 minute marks. We strongly suggest dampening the tile surface before grouting to simplify haze cleanup after spreading. Thank you very much for your interest in MAPEI products.
What’s brand is brand X? The guy using brand x doesn’t seem to be experienced. You can’t treat two different brands the same such as set time and clean up time. They don’t all act the same. Not bashing your product I’m sure it’s nice. But each manufacturer has didn’t instructions on how to handle there product. We always want to work according to manufacture specs. Me personally I use Tec Powergrout.
Hello Brandon: In this video we are not calling out one specific brand of grout in particular. We are showing the way Flexcolor CQ handles compared to other similar products in the market. The Brand X product we chose had very similar installation instructions as our Flexcolor CQ, that way we could do a side-by-side comparison with the same grouting and cleaning techniques. We can assure you that all product instructions we followed for the competitor’s grout as well as our Flexcolor CQ. Thank you very much for your comments, and please feel free to reach out to us with any further questions at 1-800-992-6273.
I just used Ultracolor Plus FA on my bathroom and fireplace and it was a disaster! I followed the instructions to a T and it it set up in the bucket before I finished the job. The bathroom was small, 10' x 5'. The tiles were 8" x 4" light gray glazed porcelain. I used a dark gray grout and am left with dark grout stuck to all the small indentions. I pre wet it and did not take an hour to do the job. The bag said if it starts to set up remix. that was impossible. I have done numerous jobs in my home, and other peoples homes without problems including backsplash, bathroom remodels with shower and floor without problems. I spent the whole day trying to get the set up grout off the tiles. Does anyone know any technique to accomplish this? I would be very careful with this stuff. It seems some people have no problems but this was not my case...
Hello Wayne, thank you for your feedback and we are sorry you had trouble working with Flexcolor CQ. I encourage you to call our Product Support line at (800) 992-6273 to discuss what happened and how we may be able to help you. Have a great day!
@@MAPEIUSA Thanks for the reply. I called and got help right away! I ordered ultra care cleaner and abrasive cleaner to see if I can remove grout from tile. I would have called prior to installation if I'd have known your help is so available. A few pointers would have made a big difference. Not going to trash product because I had problems. Just glad it was my house instead of customer. I will try it on rest om my tile though.
I dont like this product personally. I like a lot of mapei products but the flexcolor CQ premixed grout is just so hard to clean up. It leaves residue that is very hard to remove. You literally have to wipe immediately after grouting and than you risk wiping down the grout joints. I have been installing tile for almost 20 years so not a DIY guy but i wouldnt recommend this product. Sorry Mapei
Hello, thanks for your feedback. Flexcolor CQ is an acrylic-based grout and does require a different approach to installation. We do recommend a clean-as-you-go method. For haze you can get a bottle of Windex with Ammonia and spray the area (as long as it has several hours dry time) let it sit for 5 minutes and scrub. It usually takes care of the problem. After 24 hours you will have to go to our Ultracare Heavy-Duty Stone, Tile & Grout Cleaner. Apply un-diluted, let dwell for 10 minutes and wash. Rinse well after. Please contact us at (800) 992-6273 if you have additional questions.
Can Mapei actually make a grout that dry on the joint instead of just drying on the tile instantly **people the real truth about this grout is right there look at the right picture sample ** worst grout I ever used Laticrete is the best Mapei just stick with your standard and traditional **sanded and unsanded grouts and thinset is awesome ** not to mention the ** supposedly replacement product as call fast setting grout that is not your friend at all maybe for a 5x5 little floor or tiny jobs well I would 100% much rather use epoxy grouts instead of waisting money and time and headache
Hello Alejandro, thank you for your feedback! We are sorry you had a bad experience with our Flexcolor CQ grout. We encourage you to call in to our Product Support line at (800) 992-6273 to discuss what happened (we can't see photos on this site!) and tips on how to work with Flexcolor CQ with ease. We look forward to speaking with you.
Been doing professional tile installation for 15 years. Absolutely hands down one of my least favorite products ever. Takes at least 5x as long to install as non epoxy grout. A bathroom that would take me 2 hours to grout normally will take 2 days with flexcolor CQ.
Hi Joe, thanks for your feedback! Most installers have their favorite products to work with. Flexcolor CQ definitely requires a different approach and we understand you may prefer some of our other products. We try and have a wide range of products available to accommodate the varied preferences in the field.
Hello Stephen, thank you for your feedback on Flexcolor CQ. We are sorry you had a bad experience installing this product. It is a different chemistry than a standard cement-based grout and does require slight modifications in the installation. We would be happy to walk you through the installation process for Flexcolor CQ, and how to install it successfully. Please call our Product Support team at (800) 992-6273 for assistance.
Hi Brandon, thanks for your comments! Flexcolor CQ does need to be worked slightly different than cement-based grouts. Remember, when a video for a product is produced, people with experience using the product are demonstrating. There is always a slight learning curve. You are always welcome to call Product Support at (800) 992-6273 in advance of using our products to discuss their proper application.
@@MAPEIUSA You keep blaming peoples experiences with your product on the person when clearly multiple people in this post section are saying the thickness of what we are getting in the pail looks nothing like what is being shown in the video. If the product I just tried to use was even close to the consistency shown in the video I would not even be here looking for answers. I would be grouting my walls. I literally just hand molded chunk of this stuff and it is sitting on my desk standing upright. Even just the simple act of scooping some out of the bucket is impossible, it just slides off the float. If this stuff expires...that date needs to be CLEARLY and boldly marked on the packaging.
Absolutely do not recommend ! This grout is awful. It’s very hard to work . I use it on my kitchen backsplash on porcelain tiles 1/2x 3 mosaic tiles . It was a horror! On tiles like mine density of grout lines is greater obviously 10x 20x more and because of that it shouldn’t be recommended for certain kind of job. Easy to clean ?! NO ! Easy to say when grouting 12x12 but not on smal tiles Talking about haze, it’s not haze it’s hard to remove “film” like some smears of glue . Its advantages obviously do not outweigh its drawbacks…
Absolute garbage product. I don't even want a scripted "sorry" like everyone is getting in the comments. You can take their word, or the end users here.
Hi Joe, we do appreciate feedback and try not to script our messages. Everyone has their own comfort level with grouts. We have many customers love working with Flexcolor CQ grout, and some that prefer cement-based. It is different than cement grout and must be applied differently.
Hello Randy, we are sorry you had trouble with our Flexcolor CQ grout. We encourage you to call our Product Support line at (800) 992-6273 to discuss what happened and to see how we may be able to help you.
this crap is for job like 40sf shower, if we got 1000s or more, this is so hard to do, almost impossible make money on this shit, ask a real installers, all going say samething...
Hello, and thank you for your opinion of Flexcolor CQ. While it may not be your preferred grout, many of our customers, contractors included, enjoy working with it. We understand that contractors have preferences in what they use, which is why we offer several types of grout. Have a great day!
I don’t understand all these negative comments. Read the instructions and it is amazing. Cleans nicely, NO haze. Clean as you go. Work in small areas. Used with ceramic and glass tile. Absolutely fantastic.
Thank you David! You are correct, Flexcolor CQ works best when you clean-as-you-go.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions at (800) 992-6273
How did this hold up in the shower. I've read some reviews saying it's not good especially on shower floors as the water eventually turns it into mush
I concur. 👍
Excellent product. Easy to use, very consistent color and texture.
I didn't know tractors could install tile
Sounds like he doesn't know how to grout
Very important to only work for only 5-7 minutes and then completely rinse/clean up the small area you were grouting. You need to clean it so it looks like the finished product. If you don’t do this the haze will be very hard to remove.
I had that trouble when I was new at grouting and I was not using Mapei back then. Flexcolor CQ is the easiest grout to use that I have tried. A+++++
It's considered an epoxy so you need to treat it as such....real epoxy is murderous to keep up with and clean.... actually takes 2 people minimum and using mek or acetone as a rinse cycle... it's brutal... like trying to bondo a whole car before it sets up and do a cleanup....it's why you don't see very many people doing true epoxy anymore
i have used various other types of grout ( as a home owner) I just used this for my shower tile and it's absolutely THE WORST stuff I've used..
Hi Aaron,
Thank you for reaching out!
Hello Tony,
Thank you for the feedback!
You might have done something wrong this stuff is great I have waited 5 mins but I am a clean as you go tile installer anyway but it's great stuff
My experience over last week was the opposite of the demonstration. My flex grout had a very thick consistency. Maybe I had a bad batch?
Hello Brian F,
Thank you for reaching out!
If you believe the product is too thick we can certainly check for expiration.
Please email productsupport@mapei.com with your inquiry and we can start a conversation to determine what might be happening.
@@MAPEIUSA thank you for the support contact. I will send an email

@@MAPEIUSA Hello and thank you for this information. Very helpful.
BZ1340 ,
Your experience has helped me .
That i did. I actually sponged the floor before starting the 3x3 area
My other issue. The client had an acrylic walled tub and in certain spots where my rinse sponge touched the walls it dulled the gloss finish.

Hello, thank you for reaching out. Is there something we can help you with? We do not understand what you are saying, unfortunately.
Any reason mapei guy fakes squeezing the sponge so he applies on wet tile and cleans with a soppy wet sponge when brand x guy squeezes out the sponge so he applies on almost dry tile and cleans with an almost dry sponge?
Hello Jon:
Great catch!
Is there a way to thin it if it has sat in a bucket for too long?
Hello, thank you for your inquiry! We do not recommend adding water to our Flexcolor CQ to thin it out. Please call our Product Support line so we can check to make sure it hasn't expired. Our phone number is (800) 992-6273
What happened if I accidentally leave it on for 10 hours?? 😢
Better choice than Fusion
We agree, thank you!
Is this sanded or unsanded
Hello, Flexcolor CQ is not considered sanded or unsanded. CQ stands for colored quartz- they are recycled colored quartz beads that we physically attach the pigment to. It has a texture like sand, and can scratch glass or soft stone surfaces like a sanded grout. We recommend that you do a mock up and test this grout on soft surfaces to confirm compatibility.
Your longer video (ruclips.net/video/vC4c9vo4T3k/видео.html) starts the grouting process with tile surfaces getting well-dampened, if not saturated with water. Not so here. Why?
Hello David,
Thank you for your comment!
This video does show pre-wetting the tile surface at the 20 second and 1:50 minute marks.
We strongly suggest dampening the tile surface before grouting to simplify haze cleanup after spreading.
Thank you very much for your interest in MAPEI products.
This grout is dangerous
What’s brand is brand X? The guy using brand x doesn’t seem to be experienced. You can’t treat two different brands the same such as set time and clean up time. They don’t all act the same. Not bashing your product I’m sure it’s nice. But each manufacturer has didn’t instructions on how to handle there product. We always want to work according to manufacture specs. Me personally I use Tec Powergrout.
Hello Brandon:
In this video we are not calling out one specific brand of grout in particular.

Glad to hear you called in! Let us know if you are able to remove the haze.
@@MAPEIUSA also I noticed it scratches the surface of some tiles. Noticeable scratches.

Been doing professional tile installation for 15 years. Absolutely hands down one of my least favorite products ever. Takes at least 5x as long to install as non epoxy grout. A bathroom that would take me 2 hours to grout normally will take 2 days with flexcolor CQ.

Hello Stephen, thank you for your feedback on Flexcolor CQ. We are sorry you had a bad experience installing this product. We would be happy to walk you through the installation process for Flexcolor CQ, and how to install it successfully. Please call our Product Support team at (800) 992-6273 for assistance.
Too bad it's not actually like that to work with
Hi Brandon, thanks for your comments!
FAKE!!!
