Face is swollen because of prednisone... mine gets swollen and stays that way for weeks after taking even a small dose. Mrs Jill... look up a vitamin regimen you can put her on. I had mono when I was her age and I took like 10 vitamin a day and they really did help the side effects!
I teach the higher level math courses and would never want to put that type of pressure on any student. I know if my student is sick like Katie is there is no way she can do her best work. Tell Katie to check out yaymath with my friend Robert Ahdoot. He has his classes taped with worksheets and tests. This would be an awesome free tutoring program for her. Get better!
i literally had mono at the start of this year and the first symptom i got was a puffy face and eyes for like 2 weeks. I was pretty lucky that it only lasted around 6 weeks, but its definitely tough to get through :)) all the best for katie, thinking of her as i know how frustrating it is x

'm a swimmer and I just got through mono...worst week of my life. Natural remedies work like oregano oil. My symptoms lasted a week...Thank god. Now I'm just contagious for 18 months. Wishing Katie the best. Its gonna be tough but it will make her mentally a stronger person!
i’m really really amazed. my friend had mono and was so tired and weak and couldn’t even get out of bed for about 6 weeks. she lost so much weight and was very pale. props to katie for getting up and going going going. i’m so amazed by her. i couldn’t imagine how she feels
I had mono for 10 days and it took me a month to get rid of the fatigue. What really helped me was resting and drinking a lot of water. Also, sleep with many layers and blankets when you sleep to sweat out the sickness

Haha. I love her too but honestly,are you kidding ? Most often her hair looks like a rats nest and it was a terrible mess today too. I understand the top was down on the car but it was a mess when she got into the car. Sweet of you to say though. And seriously,you don't know how to place a hair band in your hair on top of your head ?
I had mono several years ago. I didn’t rest enough (had young kids) and ended up with a lot of complications from mono and ended up in the hospital for a couple of weeks. My spleen enlarged, my liver started to have trouble...all from not laying low and resting as I should have. Mono generally doesn’t lead to such awful complications, but from my experience, if you don’t take care of yourself and keep pushing, it can lead to some wicked problems!
I have Mono but in the UK we call it glandular fever, I had really severe flu symptoms for a couple of weeks but unfortunately a couple months down the line I'm still not better, I have an enlarged liver still and my spleen is still at risk too and I get fatigued super easily which makes work a nightmare :( I've been told I could still have these symptoms for ages still and even if it eventually clears moreso, my immune system has been weakened because of it probably permanently. So I really hope Katie doesn't get effected as severely and I really hope she feels better soon because I know exactly how she feels and its not pleasant! Her positive outlook is really great though and she's lucky to have such great support from you! ☺
My cousin had mono about a year ago. She's Katies age. She had it for about a month. Took a good 6 1/2 weeks to really feel better. Hang in there Katie!!!!
Watching this late at night but what made me happy yesterday was going to one of my friends since middle school bridal shower then my sister had a couple of friends over and I am also friend with them but then I also got to meet two new people yesterday. I love seeing friends I don’t see often! But sadly I am fighting a cold for 2 weeks going on 3 weeks and I hope I get better soon. Also I hope Katie gets better soon!

I had mono my freshman year of college. I was only sick sick for about 3-4 weeks. It was not fun and it does affect your energy levels even passed the sickness sometimes! However my spleen was swollen as well and some get lucky and they don’t swell. Katie is very active so needs to be careful even after she feels better because the spleen can still be swollen or start to swell again when under stress (sports, etc). It affects energy levels even after you feel better and can sometimes make a common cold more tiring even though you won’t have mono. Hoping she gets better soon! Also I lived and work in Grand Teton for four months last summer it was a blast!
My older sister had mono in her sophomore year of high school. She didn’t go to school for 2 or 3 months. Mono does stay in you forever that is why even after you being sick from it you shouldn’t share anything. That is besucase it can give someone mono. I hope you feel better Katie!💗
It takes a couple of months to fully recover from mono. My friend was out of school for a month and a half due to it and I was out for 20 days, I was diagnosed in February and I am still experiencing weakness
I had mono in October of last year. I was sick for three weeks before going to the doctor's where I was diagnosed with mono, then it was another three weeks before my symptoms started to improve, but I didn't feel fully like myself again for about six months. What made me happy today is I went to brownie pack holiday for the day. I work for girl guiding for the brownie guides and this was my first time helping out at pack holiday (camp) and it was really good. Next year I should hopefully got for the full weekend.

I had mono as an adult. I was very swollen like Katie and it took them a week to even diagnose it. I had two small children at the time so I had to push through it. I can't remember how long it was before I felt better. Hopefully with Katie being young and so fit she will recover quickly.
You said Katie got Prednisone to help with the throat/appetite right? I know one of the symptoms of that is that it can make your face swell. I know because I had a friend who had to take it once and their face swelled like crazy. Since Katie said she didn't understand why her face swelled up so much I thought I would share that little thing about Prednisone, and say that could potentially be why.

When I had mono the symptoms only lasted a week for me lol lots of Tylenol or Naproxen Sodium for pain and swelling! For the throat I took Chloraceptic Max. You can get it at Walmart for $5 and the swelling and pain shouldn’t last longer than 2 days maybe 3! :) hope it helps!
Mono is no bueno... Before I found out I had it was about a span of 2 weeks of feeling terrible. I didn’t have a swollen throat or any “sick” symptoms other than swollen lymph nodes, but ended up having strep and mono at the same time. My spleen and liver were enlarged. I really struggled to slow down and truly rest. But I would say that it the most important part of recovery. Buckle in bc it’s not a short ride. You may feel like you’re on the track of being done, but it still will hit you out of nowhere and knock you off of your feet when you least expect it. I hope you feel better soon!

I slept all day and couldn't eat but I was forced to get going because I had to move out of my dorm. Long story short, it took me probably 4 weeks to feel completely normal again.

Katie girl, I had Epstein Barr disease, a form of Mono in my early 20's and mine started with fatigue, weight loss and the killer sore throat. I was living alone in a second floor apartment in Hagerstown Md. and it was a tough journey. Even though the fatigue lasted weeks, the throat got better in like two weeks if I remember correctly. Had an enlarged spleen and told to avoid ALL activities that were other than walking or swimming as they can rupture, Gargle warm salt water even though it hurts--washes the virus and germs out to help throat heal faster maybe alternate Motrin with Tylenol for maximum pain relief. I'm so sorry this is happening but you WILL get through it. Make sure you drink, drink drink to stay hydrated and at least one small meal. Ultimun many little meals through the day. I made a pot of homemade chicken soup with veggies and added a can of cream of chicken for extra calories. Take care, dear.
I had it for a month and a half. I lost 30 pounds! Also once you get mono you can have it come back . So sometimes when I’m over stressed I get these bats of extreme tiredness and sore throats. I never knew until a dr told me it will come back sometimes
Donnellys i recommend you guys plan a trip to Cedar Point in Sandusky Ohio or try one of the famous Kalahari Waterparks and Resorts. Kalahari Resorts are located in Sandusky Ohio, Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin and the other one i believe is in Pennsylvania
I had mono for 18 months and it was terrible. I ended up having to be homeschooled. But mine was an extreme case. I’m sorry you have to deal with this, it’s so painful. All I wanted was mashed potatoes and cold drinks.
I had mono for about 3 weeks was when I felt the worst, my mom definitely didn't help me as much as you help Katie I basically didn't eat for 3 weeks I just slept. I drank water and sucked the juice out of oranges 😂 the first time I could really eat again was probably the best
You all are starting a happy summer! Hey, Katie Kate, try some BONE BROTH on tap. Either chicken or beef. Check it out because chicken might have more collagen - great for athletic recovery. Shawn Johnson said her coach used to have her take chicken bone broth after workouts. Some people do better with beef, so it's up to your constitution. BUT BONE BROTH will do great things for your body (more than pancakes). Lookin' out for you!
I had mono for several months, but I had just started my professional career and was scared to take time off unless I had a temp of 103 or had to go into the doctor for more tests/meds. My immune system never recovered. Katie is younger and in much better health than I was though.....
I had mono and also had the enlarged spleen, I was out for about 2 weeks until I felt good to stay awake and couldn’t do sports or activities because of my spleen for about 3 1/2 weeks

I had it for a month and a half. I lost 30 pounds! Also once you get mono you can have it come back . So sometimes when I’m over stressed I get these bats of extreme tiredness and sore throats. I never knew until a dr told me it will come back sometimes
Donnellys i recommend you guys plan a trip to Cedar Point in Sandusky Ohio or try one of the famous Kalahari Waterparks and Resorts. Kalahari Resorts are located in Sandusky Ohio, Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin and the other one i believe is in Pennsylvania
I had mono for 18 months and it was terrible. I ended up having to be homeschooled. But mine was an extreme case. I’m sorry you have to deal with this, it’s so painful. All I wanted was mashed potatoes and cold drinks.

I had mono for about 3 weeks was when I felt the worst, my mom definitely didn't help me as much as you help Katie I basically didn't eat for 3 weeks I just slept. I drank water and sucked the juice out of oranges 😂 the first time I could really eat again was probably the best

Hey, Katie Kate, try some BONE BROTH on tap. Either chicken or beef. Check it out because chicken might have more collagen - great for athletic recovery. Shawn Johnson said her coach used to have her take chicken bone broth after workouts. Some people do better with beef, so it's up to your constitution. BUT BONE BROTH will do great things for your body (more than pancakes). Lookin' out for you!
I had mono for several months, but I had just started my professional career and was scared to take time off unless I had a temp of 103 or had to go into the doctor for more tests/meds. My immune system never recovered. Katie is younger and in much better health than I was though.....
