This decade is absurd. If some of the weirdest recent events were in a series or a novel it would be the funniest thing I've ever seen, instead it's real and we are left worrying how it can go
"absurd" doesn't even cover it. I really feel like the plot from "Idiocracy" is starting to happen right now. People seem to (figuratively) keep smashing their heads into brick walls, and complain it hurts...
Presidents used to be decent people, even if you didn't agree with their policies. Trump changed all that. He dragged the Oval Office into the mud.

The one problem with the pardon route is that it only is good for federal charges. If Trump is convicted in Georgia, only the Governor of Georgia can commute his sentence. The President has no authority on that front.

An iconic mug shot for history, with the secrets of that bizarre labyrinthine hair-do revealed 😹
It isn't a secret. He had a world famous hair transplant business in one of the floors of trump towers. He has an older type of hair transplantation from the late 80's. Modern hair transplants take out hair pores on the back of the head to the forehead to replace the decayed pores. The old style is more like sewing in hairs and pores, much less dense and authentic. It's why his hair is so thin, but also why he keeps it so long, because if it was short, it would be very easy to spot.
His hair does grow, it's not a wig, but he is really good at making it look as fake as possible (jus like his addiction to spray tan)

One thing I am surprised you did not mention is that Presidents can only pardon Federal Crimes - they cannot pardon State Crimes - only State Governors can do that. So, a State conviction is a more complicated problem for Trump as he could be forced to serve his Presidency from a State Prison. That would be .... complicated.
Yes that's what I was going to comment.
You can see a situation when Trump is ordering federal officials to get him out of jail & the state resisting. That could lead to real conflict.
@@mark6bat I am sure he would primitively go the the courts to delay his prison term but is he is put in jail, he is the commander-in-chief so he could choose to use force. I would hope that there would be some that would consider that an illegal order but...
Couldn't he just federalize the state prison staff and order them to release him?
@@Edde1018 I don't think so. They are state employees.
One important point to add to the end there: while Trump could, if president, at least try to pardon himself for his federal crimes, he would not be able to pardon himself for state crimes. Only the state governors can do that, and while Georgia has a Republican governor, New York's governor is a Democrat and would be highly unlikely to.
It's also good to mention that the current Georgia governor doesn't see eye-to-eye with him. So Trump would have to insert a successor if he hopes to get a pardon.
What he did in NY and what he did in Georgia?
Hell would break loose if new york actualy try to enforce his imprisonment.

Yeah everyone knows that after what happen in 2020 !
Biden 2028
Just a minor note: the question of a presidential self-pardon is pretty open-and-shut, and (surprise, surprise), it's not legal. In 1974, the Supreme Court (unanimously) ruled in United States v. Nixon that no one, not even the president, is above the law. This means that the president cannot pardon himself.
You know that ther Sumreme court can make ne rulings?
@@alexlehrersh9951 Um...I'm sorry? 😂
While this is true, all it takes is the current court, packed with Republicans to make a new ruling that overrides that precedent to make it legal.
I disagree. The case was about Nixon withholding tapes that would made up guilty of his crimes through executive privilege, so it's irrelevant to the president's pardon. Even so, "above the law" just means that no one is exempt from the law, which also doesn't have to do with the president's pardon. Ford also pardoned Nixon.
@@burnsbabe87 That's true, but they would have to OVERRULE that ruling. As it stands now, a self-pardon is not legal.

People could do any verbal gymnastics to argue, but If someone could "pardon himself" that means this person is above the law, breaking another principle that sais everybody is equal before law.

@@loganleroy8622 The law is not a popularity contest.
@@Secret_Moon No but running a country is. You're entitled to a jury of your peers, so if the majority of electoral college votes for you, that's basically a vote from a jury of your peers.
@@loganleroy8622 Then you don't understand how jury and the jurisdiction system work.
Whether or not the jury likes the defendant is entirely irrelevant. They have to look at *cold, hard evidence* and give their judgements based on that. Of course keeping feelings out of your judgement entirely is impossible, we're human after all, but juries are always specifically instructed to keep their feelings out of it as much as possible, and follow closely to the letters of the law.

The right wing media machine has so much control over the narrative that people are convinced the US economy is shit when it is doing the best in the world right now.
