i've got over 800 hours in elden ring. i've watched multiple let's plays. i've watched so many challenge runs i can't count them. when the stormveil castle picture came on screen, the place where its name should be was a blank space stretching to infinity.

Debatable. In game text refers to Godfrey as “first” Elden Lord. Placidusax’s status is debatable. Are we using a contemporary term to refer to a ruler of similar standing but from an earlier time, despite it being anachronistic? Either way, Gav and Rory don’t know about that yet. So given what they know: think Godfrey works as an answer. Or can definitely be ‘right’ in a story built on ambiguity. Krupa
@@RKG oh definitely! Godfrey is definitely the first Elden Lord during the age of the Erdtree and fits what is commonly associated to what an Elden Lord is: consort to God. Can't wait for powers to battle the ancient dragon! Thanks for the answer and see you on the Premiere next Saturday! cheers
We only know that Placidusax was an Elden Lord before the Erdtree, but it's not stated anywhere that he was the first even in the age when he reigned; all the information about him is written in such a way that shows it's been so long since his time, that they're using 'said to have been' instead of stating it clearly, which suggests that maybe physical records from that time haven't survived. So if they don't even have proper records from then, then who knows if there have been others before Placidusax and how many. In this thinking, Godfrey would be the "first" Elden Lord in recorded history during the time of the Erdtree.
