      No, he's a big liar. I have aids and was in a coma. 27 years dealing with it. He won't even tell the community what he takes for pills. He won't even tell the community how he deals with side effects. They are horrendous. So I wonder why he keeps all that secret and just cries all day about stupid stuff. He could help us all. He's a liar and a cheat to people who are dying. Think about that. Every day someone dies that he lies to.

      Don't waste your energy. The people he helps is himself only. He won't dare talk to me or help me. 27 years living with aids. I was in a coma. You would think he would want to help us right? REAL PEOPLE? No, he's a talking soundbite with big secrets he won't share because they save his life and he's not interested in saving anyone else.

      in the beginning, i'd say stigma slowed our urgency but now i'm not sure. i think it's more about the complexity of the viruses being so different. like not even in the same stratosphere. smthng most healthy ppl would have for 2 wks can't be compared to smthng you'd have for life.

He is a true voice and inspiration for an ongoing health crisis, that hasn't received much press in the last few years. Hopefully, one day there will be a vaccine like Covid?
    Look forward to the bio-pic. 😁

    I met Greg at a Starbucks in Wilton Manors, Florida. I’d just moved there and went for a coffee, took a double take, there Greg sat with a friend. I spoke and he was super friendly, I asked for a picture. His friend snapped it, then he jumped into a VW bug convertible and drove off. A few minutes either way I’d have missed him. A great memory for me.

    Hes been infected almost the entire time. Reading his autobiography its clear that (while diagnosed in 1988) he was probably infected in the early '80s. Hes AMAZING.

    • @davidh9844
      @davidh9844 Год назад +1

      It takes about 5-7 years from initial infection to sufficient destruction of the immune system for the AIDS diseases to surface. I've never seen Louganis's blood work, but my guess based on his physical appearance and athletic stamina during the Olympics would be 2-3 years maximum. No one mentions that when he cracked his head open and he was bleeding like a pig, people were administering first aid without wearing gloves. I still get the chills every time I see those videos!

    • @justinharris5434
      @justinharris5434 Год назад

      @@davidh9844 having read his book I think early '80s is his likely infection date, as a lot of people he dated during his time in college died from the disease in the late '80s and early '90s. He also says in another interview that he believes he was infected before he moved in with the abusive partner, which I remember from his book being '83ish. If Greg were infected in 1981-82 I would not be surprised at all. By the time he was diagnosed right before the '88 Olympics his T-cells had already dropped to around 250.....AND LOOK AT HIM NOW(!)

      @@davidh9844 His T-cell count was about 250 when he was diagnosed in 1988 and several of his lovers from the late 1970s and early 1980s died from the disease. Based on reading "Breaking the Surface," if Greg were infected between 1980 and 1982, that would not surprise me at all.

    I'm a physician. The first cases were described in May, 1981. I began my internship on July 1, 1981. I Saw my first case in August,1981. One of our 2nd year Resident's cousin. Black, drug addict, no lymphocytes, and pneumonia not responding to anything. 1988, 7 years later. AIDS WAS a death sentence, although we could treat the concurrent disease a bit more effectively. But if you had AIDS, you had a death sentence more assuredly than any court based death sentence. Our miracle, and it was nothing less than a miracle, brought about in no small measure by Dr Anthony Fauci, yes, THAT Dr. Fauci, came in 1995, when the first protease inhibitors came on line. A lot of men still died, but the numbers dropped precipitously. The drugs had nasty side effects, but they worked. The drugs became more potent, better tolerated, easier to take. And now, you are interviewing Greg Louganis, roughly 35 years after he was infected. Whatever stupid things Fauci may have done in his lifetime, in my book, Dr Fauci is a saint!
