When I listen to the words of this song, I too have to cry.😢 On the days I was graduating college, my mother failed to get to my ceremony😢 because she had gone into a coma due to the fact that her body was infiltrated with cancer all through her body. They then put her on life support and from May 13th 1980 till June 21st 1980. My mother was unconscious and in a comatose state during that time.. I never got to tell her. I really loved her❤😢. I never got to tell her how much I cared for all the things She had done for me while she was my mother 😢It's very difficult to move on with life. when you know you never got to tell her how much you loved n sincerely cared about her.❤ I took her for granted. You just assumed she'd be around forever.😢When I hear this song. I go right back to 1980 when I never got the chance to tell My mom that I loved her❤😢 and to say the words. Thank you. When I was in my teens, I chummed with a buddy who always hugged his parents and told them that he loved them before leaving home. At the time, I thought it was kind of soft and sweet (but not manly). Now, as I look back, I now realize how he had it all so right. As I sitting here, missing my parents and a girlfriend I buried (lost to cancer), now I take some comfort in knowing the last words I shared with them, "I love you". We don't know if today's goodbye could our last with those who are special to us. I now make it my practice as I leave to hug my adult children (and grandson) and tell them know how much they mean to me. I'm not going to be that person that says "I wish I could have told them". P.S. It is manly to say "I love you" to those in our hearts.
I have lost so many thru the years. Today was the anniversary of my best friend, my mom passing away. Three years later my brother also left me. My husband passed away at the age of 35. My dad just turned 90 and has been having health problems for a few years now. My dad was military and to this day he still treats us like he was still in the military. For some reason he can’t seem to find the words “I love you too” in his vocabulary. I think I’ve heard it twice in my life. I never leave his house without giving him a peck on his head or cheek and saying “I love you”. He’ll just respond by saying “OK”. I told my mom every day and my brother every time I talked to him. I wish my dad could be more like you. I’m sorry about the ones you lost but I’m glad that the other members of your family get that I love you from you. It does mean more than some realize. First, your personal lose in the connections and relationships you shared with your mother, brother, friend and especially your husband. Second, it must to hard to see your father struggle with his loses also while putting up a stone wall appearance. I also have military time and it is a combination of "old school" and military thinking that men don't show their emotions. Yet their is a difference between being strong and cold. I think a strong man is able to stand up for what he values, yet says, I don't care if you don't share of views on things I value (such as relationships). Don't give up on your Dad. I hope for him, "OK" is both acknowledgement and a defensive away of dealing with his lose. Like yourself, my father was "old school" and seldom showed emotion. I recall while in my teens I had a painful ski accident/ knee injury. My father's question was, "did you cry"? He later said "real men only cry when their hearts are broken". My Dad was a stone, but I know he loved us all.

When I listen to the words of this song, I too have to cry.😢 On the days I was graduating college, my mother failed to get to my ceremony😢 because she had gone into a coma due to the fact that her body was infiltrated with cancer all through her body. They then put her on life support and from May 13th 1980 till June 21st 1980. My mother was unconscious and in a comatose state during that time.. I never got to tell her. I really loved her❤😢. I never got to tell her how much I cared for all the things She had done for me while she was my mother 😢It's very difficult to move on with life. when you know you never got to tell her how much you loved n sincerely cared about her.❤ I took her for granted. You just assumed she'd be around forever.😢When I hear this song. I go right back to 1980 when I never got the chance to tell My mom that I loved her❤😢 and to say the words. Thank you. When I was in my teens, I chummed with a buddy who always hugged his parents and told them that he loved them before leaving home. At the time, I thought it was kind of soft and sweet (but not manly). Now, as I look back, I now realize how he had it all so right. As I sitting here, missing my parents and a girlfriend I buried (lost to cancer), now I take some comfort in knowing the last words I shared with them, "I love you". We don't know if today's goodbye could our last with those who are special to us. I now make it my practice as I leave to hug my adult children (and grandson) and tell them know how much they mean to me. I'm not going to be that person that says "I wish I could have told them".
P.S. It is manly to say "I love you" to those in our hearts.
I have lost so many thru the years. Today was the anniversary of my best friend, my mom passing away. Three years later my brother also left me. My husband passed away at the age of 35.
My dad just turned 90 and has been having health problems for a few years now. My dad was military and to this day he still treats us like he was still in the military. For some reason he can’t seem to find the words “I love you too” in his vocabulary. I think I’ve heard it twice in my life. I never leave his house without giving him a peck on his head or cheek and saying “I love you”. He’ll just respond by saying “OK”. I told my mom every day and my brother every time I talked to him. I wish my dad could be more like you. I’m sorry about the ones you lost but I’m glad that the other members of your family get that I love you from you. It does mean more than some realize. Good morning and thank you for your comment on my posting. First, I'm sorry for your loses. It must be difficult for you on two fronts. First, your personal lose in the connections and relationships you shared with your mother, brother, friend and especially your husband. Second, it must to hard to see your father struggle with his loses also while putting up a stone wall appearance. I also have military time and it is a combination of "old school" and military thinking that men don't show their emotions. Yet their is a difference between being strong and cold. I think a strong man is able to stand up for what he values, yet says, I don't care if you don't share of views on things I value (such as relationships).
Don't give up on your Dad. I hope for him, "OK" is both acknowledgement and a defensive away of dealing with his lose. Like yourself, my father was "old school" and seldom showed emotion. I recall while in my teens I had a painful ski accident/ knee injury. My father's question was, "did you cry"? He later said "real men only cry when their hearts are broken". My Dad was a stone, but I know he loved us all.

I dedicate this song to my late eldest brother. He was a Lovely soul, more like a father than a brother. He died of cancer last year November 16, 2022 at age 51. We thought he was recovery well especially when he sent a beautiful video of himself dancing not knowing it will be the last . A day later he gave up. I never had the chance to wish him a proper goodbye by telling him i loved him. Ya Allah , i still shed tears daily . Alhamdulillah always. Ya Allah , Grant him aljanat Firdaus aameen.
