Great video! I initially had some trouble getting it to work after switching over to a new Wi-Fi router. I noticed that many people online suggested connecting to the 2.4GHz frequency, which is a common fix for some devices, but it still didn’t solve my issue. I ended up contacting my internet provider, Optus, and they changed a setting on the router-disabling the 'Enable Band Steering' option. Band steering is when your device is automatically connected to the optimal WiFi frequency, whether 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz. Once they turned it off, everything connected instantly. I had similar issues with other devices in my house, but this small change resolved them all.
Hi there, thanks, my new Orbi modem has a synch button, which didn’t work. So I had to do it the long way with my mobile phone. And your very clear video enabled my 70yr old brain to achieve lift off, so I now have Fronius back on my network! Thanks to you…
I have a Fronius Symo but there is no internet at the property, only 4G Telstra network. So I can’t connect to wifi. Can you suggest a workaround, such as wifi dongle with sim card? How much data is required? Do you know of any suitable long-term data plans?
Worked great, thanks, but it's a bit annoying that we are totally dependent on the internet. Why are there, not some gauges or similar on the unit itself? It not good, the internet goes down, and all is lost
Yeh I agree. Most inverters have removed the screen because it was the biggest failure point. When inverters have a 10 year warranty, it was best to remove the weak point. You don’t actually need the internet. You can direct connect with your mobile and use your mobile as an advanced screen.
Mark, I have had problems with data loss due a failed online connection with my Gen 24 Symo+, inatalled April 2023. I was able to find a fix (so far) by assigning a Static IP Addrees for the Gen 24 in my modem WAN settings.
I couldn’t find any wifi’s to be able to connect to although I’ve reset it and am able to connect to wifi on phone (other homes close by also come up but for some strange reason no available wifi when within fronious)
Fab video - thanks mate. I don't have my customer password so I'm a bit stymied. Interestingly, I have a fronius gen24 and a recent model fritzbox and the fritzbox log shows the fronius CONSTANTLY registering/deregistering from DHCP every few seconds. When it was first installed, it was fine for about a week but then it suddenly started this register/deregister cycle not long after a fronius solar web upgrade. I'm going to try a manually assigned IP address, but requires my customer password..
I press the button and it flashes blue, but I can't find the access point when scanning. I tried with both my phone and my laptop. Also, after a couple minutes the WLAN light turns red.
Hi Mark, your video worked perfectly until a few months ago and the connection still shows under wifi settings with a tick but I can't access it to check performance. Don't have wifi in shed where Fronius is and have turned off data. I previously had a quick link on phone under favourites but it's disappeared and I can't get it back.
Hi mark, great video. I just get stumped at the last bit connecting back to our wifi, it says that our network is not configurable as Starlink is unsupported??
Hi Mark Thanks for your clear presentation. Unfortunately I found that I was not given the option of entering the user password given by my supplier and I have been unable to get re-connected to the system. While mobile data is off I can get the bubble diagram but that's all.
This is great stuff Mark! I came across the problem though as I can't connect to the Fronius WIFI network using the 12345678 pin. Any advice on how I can get pass this roadblock? Thank you!
Hi Mark. I have changed my internet provider. I have done what you said in your video. I get as far as choosing the Fronius from the Settings but when I enter 12345678 I just get the message The web page is not available. Any suggestions?
Great video, super clear and straight forward. Thanks! One question though; if the invertor hasn’t had a connection for a few weeks, does the data still get logged by either the Invertor or the Smart Meter, and eventually get uploaded to solar web once the connection is restored? Or is that data completely lost?
Hi Mark, I am lookign forward to the completed series. i do not have my GEN24 installed as yet but hopefully in the next few weeks. I have 5kw of APS solar already and have the 5KW GEN24+ 19Kw BYD+6kw panels coming. My main wish is for back up power and I am have lights and fridges etc put on the backup circuit. My secondary wish is full self consumption and peak you shaving to reduce bills. Now I think know what might question is going to be. HOW can I ensure my installer sets up my system to meet both of there wishes? And yes I can see that they are opposing wishes too. So what I hope I can do is have the system running in maximum power saving mode, using the battery over night and ready to charge again when the sun is back in the moring. BUT I would love to be able to stop the battery discharging on a night when those dreaded Brisbane storms are showing up on the Radar. Is there a way in the user management that I can save my battery for a potential blackout? Thanks Mark This might be good grist for your video mill later in the series.
Mine just dropped yesterday. It still has wifi, I can access the interface across my internal network. But can’t proceed further as I don’t seem to have my customer password. As a network engineer I know I am going to get asked some dumb questions from my supplier.
@@mcelectrical it’s not a wireless issue. There is a problem with my system appearing in the Fronius backend and it seems to correlate with a change they made. Once into the local web interface I can run tests that say it’s connected, but nothing in the web app.
@@mcelectrical So the update over the weekend had taken a number of systems offline. Local access via the IP address was possible and even the solar.web checks passed, but nothing in the portal. When I spoke to G-Solar yesterday they could see a number of systems that had gone offline. They emailed them and this morning, everything is back and all their clients are back too. Updates eh?
pity that doesn't work as the installer of my gen24 6.0 was told I would have to wait for a software update to come out to be able to access all app functions by Fronius Australia
There was some wifi issues on earlier updates that have been fixed in the newer updates. Just update to the latest firmware and it’ll be good from there.
i have tried to use wps it didnt work then i tried going thru with the iphone when you get to put in the password for the inverter it says not authenticated.so i dont know why it does this .i called the people who put it in and they got it connected, but surely there must be something simpler.or fronius can sort there connection
Hi, can you help me please. i'm trying to reconnect my gen24 to my home wifi after power outage. I followed your steps which were fine, however when I go the connect wifi in network page it doesnt bring up any networks. I typed wifi in manually but still nothing. When it did originally networks came out but my home one greyed out. Went through steps again but now shows no networks at all. Thanks again. Shane
Hmm, not exactly sure. I’d try contacting Fronius directly, but if it’s not connected to wifi you may need an electrician to come out and presumably it can be reset while on site. I’ll try to remember and ask Fronius and get back to you.

Yes, we have new instructions for our customers about band steering. Another way is create a guest network (which will default to 2.4ghz)
HI Mark, thank you so much for this video, worked perfectly for me. great series.
Thanks Wayne. Seems it works well for most people.
Worked nicely... and very straight forward.
Thanks for you feedback!

Thanks Mark, great video. All worked perfectly, much appreicated. Cheers Stuart
Great to hear!
Great video mate! Love your work

Thank you for explaining so simply. Much obliged.
You're welcome!
Terrific video, worked perfectly after many attempts to reconnect via WPS. Thank you!
You're welcome!
Super helpful - worked for me (although as my WPS didn’t work I just turned my wifi off and on with everything else the same)
Nice, glad you worked it out.

Hi Mark, is there any way that you can turn OFF the WiFi on the Fronius primo 8.2 device, so, that it is NOT sending out a signal? Thanks.
I couldn’t find any wifi’s to be able to connect to although I’ve reset it and am able to connect to wifi on phone (other homes close by also come up but for some strange reason no available wifi when within fronious)
Restart the inverter and it should come up and once connected to the internet again be sure to do a software update
Thanks for helping us respond to these support questions, keep up the great work at Fronius @hamzaqazi3648!

You could try contacting your installer and they may be able to tell you the password they have set for you. Good luck!
No having problem sorry went through the this a couple of time with out any luck
Sorry about that! We’re about to update these videos, but you might have to check my other video using wps?
I press the button and it flashes blue, but I can't find the access point when scanning. I tried with both my phone and my laptop. Also, after a couple minutes the WLAN light turns red.

FYI we don’t have any mobile coverage where we live. Do I need to be connected to the wifi to sync the inverter with it?
It's work for me with WPS. Thanks.

Yeh, sorry about that. It is really important to get a proper solar installer if your want to have clarity with your system.

Tried both approaches. On the non WOS - The hamburger doesn’t show in top RH top corner

all good now. powered down everything and connected straight up.
Do a software update too to stop it from happened again
So what do you do if you lost the password and the company that installed your fronius unit went out of business...
Hmm, not exactly sure. I’d try contacting Fronius directly, but if it’s not connected to wifi you may need an electrician to come out and presumably it can be reset while on site. I’ll try to remember and ask Fronius and get back to you.
My Gen24 does not show up in my wifi as a network at all. Major problem connecting frustrating af
I’d call back your original installer. They should be able to fault find.
Yep, all good - thanks.
Authentication failed when I log into the communication part of the process. Putting in the fronius passwrord too
Call your installer as they should be able to help you with this.
My fronius primo indicates that the wifi is on, its blue ... but i cant see anything on my phone, it says on the app data transfer interrupted
Sometimes there is just a glitch with the app. Have you tried to log into solar.web?
I keep getting authentication failed when I put my password in
Try password reset before you log in?
They didn't work; Under wifi, its saying that no networks available, even after i refersh
Hmm, it’s hard to guess at the issue. It might be time to call your installer - you may need to get them out to have a look at it.
Welp in my case it shows no network available but the network connection is for sure there..
I have an Android phone and it looks different on my phone
I don't have a hamburger on the side of the website it's driving me nuts
Call your installer as they should be able to help you with this.
