It could possibly be the application tool you used. I noticed on websites like flockit, that they have a applicator you pump to essentially "throw" the media on the dash. My guess is the force of pumping the fibers into the dash is what sinks it into the glue. Where you sifted it and left gravity doing the work, not forcing it into the glue itself
Well done for being so honest about it, never easy to admit defeat but at least it's a lesson shared. I know what it's like attempting different things and it doesn't always go the way you planned.
You need to use a professional level electrostatic flocking machine. Flocking by just dusting the fibres never works out. The way i do it, spray a electrically conductive epoxy based fireproof adhesive over the part, hook a ground cable up and then fire flock fibres at the part by positively charging the fibre cup. This results in the fibres being attracted to the part and landing in the adhesive on end (so the fibres all stand up) as if you rub a balloon on your clothes and hold it to your hair. I can do this for you if you would like to pm me. I can send you a colour chart for you to pick your colour/s.
Although it went badly you can always easily and cheaply get a new dashboard from scrapyard. Also I absolutely love how seicento screams "RACE CAR" without it's dashboard
mine was the exact same and I used the WWS expensive pro applicator so I think its the ADHESIVE that flock king sell, its crap! it's the the common theme here. I should have used spray glue or something like contact adhesive. The flock king black adhesive it rubbish. I slathered my trim parts in it and had the hopper already loaded and it still skinned off so quick and then barely anything stuck. ruined all the prep work and at this point I'm not going to be re doing them again until I find a better glue. AVOID FLOCK KING kits at all cost. waste of money. 25 quid for a bottle and some fibre and a silverline paint brush. total rip off for all you get.
Did you ever reflock your dashboard maybe you used the wrong glue or you use soft locking when you should probably use a different type of locking I'm not an expert just thinking about it and did you clean your dashboard really good like their special chemicals for plastic to make it stick better
@@MillerCorner I think it was a plastic the material on your dashboard that made it peel off there's special chemicals that you can clean the dashboard with first that doesn't hurt the dashboard but it gets all the oils out in a neutralizes the ABS plastic
@@MillerCorner Damn! So, driving around with no dash for the time being, or did you find a replacement? Are pick-n-pull scrapyards a thing in the UK? Maybe you could hit up the local one and fine one to replace it with!
Hi I've been watching your vids for a while now, there great btw. Soon I'm going to get my first car and I was wondering if you could tell me the common faults with the 1.1 fiat seicento - cheers
Thanks man, appreciate it 😁 nothing much to worry about - make sure the power steering works perfectly lock to lock at all speeds, check for all signs of head gasket failure (common on the 1.1) and inspect the rear arches inside and out for rust. Other than that, all good and best of luck :D
was going to make a "looks like you flocked that up" joke... probably won't... was going to sugest flocking sheets that i have seen, turns out they only come in an A4 size (;_;)
I wonder how many FLOCKING kits have destroyed dashs? I almost found out the hard way but started with doing the hard plastic center console and the bottom unseen part of my dash. The hard plastic console turned out literally like patchy crap, the bottom of the dash was patchy but the vinyl took the shit adhesive with a marginally better result. That FLOCKING water based adhesive is absolute garbage. It must skin over to quickly to be useful and doesn't level off well with brush application. Bought some Fock-it solvent based adhesive and everything came out very nicely using the kit applicator and a fine Sive . You don't need a electrostatic gun to get a good result with the right adhesive.

Quite salty to not like your comment when you offered advice, kids ah.
He also went a little thin with the glue seems like.

Not ideal, but it's a learning experience 😅

Maybe try wrapping it in fake velvet or alcantra?
Can’t win them all! It’s great to see a little transparency, nonetheless.
Bad luck old boy, least you gave it a shot though!
I thought, that the best flock application is with electrostatic charge
Used the same kit as u, had the same problem as u aswell, pain in the ass, was doing it on a headliner... Almost nothing attached itself to the glue😅

The tool kinda adds a static charge so it stands up kinda
Such a shame it didn't work out the way you wanted, it was looking really good up till that point. I know you will get it sorted tho 😀 all the best !!
Thanks dude, we'll get there 😁
I love your channel! Keep up the good work and I am sure soon you are going to get big!
Thanks man! Here's hoping 😁
Well you flocked that right up haha nah im sure you get it sorted and it will look good mate :)
Cheers mate, it'll get sorted 💪🏻

I'll be honest, a lot of people have said that DIY flocking is a dead end based on experience 😬 I ultimately had another dash professionally flocked

DIY but use the electrically charged method on the sieve
Just get spray glue and reflock it
Damn, sorry it didn't go well! Do you still have a spare dash from the SS's old original shell?
Unfortunately not - the ONE BIT that didn't get stripped :/
@@MillerCorner Damn! So, driving around with no dash for the time being, or did you find a replacement?

They are indeed a thing, albeit uncommon, but plans are afoot to rescue this one! 💪🏻

@@MillerCorner thanks for the help 👍
Flocking hell what a nightmare! Great video though!
Your commentary style should get you a TV job daaaamn
Cheers! Funnily enough, I now make and present videos about cars as my job! Check out the Classics World channel 😁
Oh what the flock
Sand the hell out of it. And away you go again. Did you see edd china doing it on wheeler dealers?
You should never ever ever touch it until it dryes - 24h
Just sifting it likely didn’t help either.
was going to make a "looks like you flocked that up" joke... probably won't...

So more glue is better?
For flocks sake 😭🚘

5:30 temporary daily! Well, what can I say... shit happens.
Right you are! It's BACK 😁
This is why im taking mine to a proffessional, and not even attempting to do it myself
Good video, I think it can be fixed, thanks a lot 👍
that sucks, what are you going to do now?! sand it again and let someone else do it?
Wait and see 😉
How do you come up with a pun for each video 😂
Far too much time on my hands...
I screw everyhring back into where it goes
Gutted to the Max.........or should that be Joe????
Flocked that up eh ? :)
HAHAHAHA NEVER HEARD THAT ONE BEFORE! 🤣🤣🤣
unlucky mate
Try again
Yeah cheers for that, mate 😂
Wanna buy my old dash? £40 it’s yours
Thanks man, but this one will be saved 💪🏻
There are much better kits and products out there.
😂😂😂
why spend money on a peice of shit
