Wow, you have been incredibly brave in sharing this stuff Graham and I hope you are back to your best soon. I have struggled with mental health for all of my adult life. Depression and anxiety mainly. I spent time in a mental institution and still struggle sometimes. I did a lot of cognitive behavioural therapy which helped a lot. Depression cost me my marriage and my life is still a bit messed up because of it, but you have to keep moving forward Here are some thoughts. - Antidepressants do work in as much as they stop you wanting to jump out of the nearest window, but they are very addictive and difficult to come off. I have been diagnosed with maybe 6 or 7 different SSRI meds over the years and they all have unpleasant side effects. I was on them for over 25 years, but started taking CBD a couple of years back which helped a lot. It naturally boosts serotonin in the brain which is the same thing antidepressants do. Difference is CBD is natural and has limited side effects. - Exercise is important. Setting yourself little goals is the key. Nothing too major which will make you beat yourself up if you don’t achieve them. You are a naturally athletic guy. As the Nike slogan goes ‘just do it’ - I also went down the weed and alcohol route and still struggle to contain my addictions sometimes. It’s not the answer, but don’t beat yourself up if you regress sometimes. - Talking is really important. Mental health problems are incredibly common. People just chose not to discuss their issues, which is the worst thing you can do. People do care if you are up front and open - Don’t spend too much time analysing why you feel he way you do. Accept it. We are all wired differently and react to life situations in different ways. It may be something you have to deal with for he rest of your life. Having coping mechanisms is the most important thing. You may never find the answers if you try and analyse why you feel the way you do - It doesn’t have to be KCI, but I found reconnecting with God incredibly useful. Don’t turn your back on Him. - Tell your other half how your feel. If she loves you she will be supportive and understand. - You have shown way more maturity than I was able to do at your age. You will be fine. Be patient with yourself - Love the top. Werner signed and Havertz on the way. KTBFFH
Thank you for being brave enough to open up so publicly, it is very courageous of you! I have done something similar in my recent videos and it's great to know there are others out there also trying to raise awareness! Keep up the great work man and I send you my best wishes.
