Even without cheating, he is very good. He got multiple world records without the insane RNG hacks.

Fun fact: Link’s Awakening doesn’t actually take place in Hyrule, it takes place on an Island called Koholint, which is hinted by the fact that Link gets shipwrecked and the fact that Zelda, who is the second most reoccurring character in the series (aside from our boy Linkus of course) is nowhere to be seen in this game.
So, there’s a couple a couple of Link’s Awakening references in Breath of the Wild, like there’s Mabe Village Ruins, there’s also a Koholit rock, and more.

You should play Skyward Sword when the remake comes out. It is the first in the timeline. You should look at Hyrule Historia for the full timeline.

Did you know that this game actually takes assets from all other sorts of Nintendo properties? There are chain chomps from Mario in the beginning, and the sea urchins are actually Gordos from Kirby. Btw I highly recommend Kirby games, they are incredibly easy and chill, full of charm, then once you get to the post game they present you with some of the greatest challenges I’ve ever seen in a video game.

This was the absolute best Game Boy game, and it's a beautiful remake. If you like the Link design from the intro cutscene, you should also check out Link Between Worlds if you have a 3DS or 2DS.
When you said "first Zelda game" I was about to flip but then I saw the text and went "Thank god" 😂
I have this thing where if any of my friends say anything wrong about a single game in the series (Twilight princess... Ehem) I call them 'Magda' after the crazy flower lady from botw

If you do the fishing game enough then you can get some sick rewards. Use the shoes from dungeon 3 to get past the orange dudes in the bed chamber. I forgot what it was called. Take the ghost pig to the grave with the flowers after beating dungeon 4 I think. You can get a master sword if you collect enough sea shells. You can hit the orange crystal in the second dungeon through the corner. Push the statue of the bird in mabe village. The library has some books that will help you find the colour dungeon in the graveyard. You can take items from the shop without paying by finding "the sweet spot". Hope you have fun with the game and I will be here if you need help with a puzzle

On normal mode you can get refill hearts from grass and stuff but you're apperantly big strog gamer so have fun
Oh hell yeah, the beach episode.
For real, though, this is a delightful game, everything looks like a small diorama or whatever they're called and the music is amazing. Oh and by the way, you can hold attack to do a spin attack, which might be handy sometimes, I think it does double damage.
Anyway, this is a remake of Link's Awakening, which was released on the original GameBoy with a slightly bigger version on the GameBoy Color, which had an additional dungeon and stuff like that. It's the fourth Zelda game, the first one on a handheld, and started by a single developer who just used the dev kit they had for the GB to make a handheld Zelda game by himself. Over time, more devs decided to join him in their free time until it became an official Nintendo project, at least that's what I heard, I think.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to this. Oh and if you want a Zelda that's more like BotW and also want to play it before you die, which excludes BotW 2, then you might want to check out the original Zelda on the NES it's very old and very hard, giving you essentially no directions whatsoever, but it very much carries the spirit of free exploration like BotW and is thus still a very fun game, if you can get along with its outdated nature.
I’ve been looking at different links awakening series and I’m honestly loving yours and I’m 5 minutes in. Excited to see the other Zelda games and the rest of this series! 😁

This isn’t a puzzle you are on right, now, but one that is very dumb and frustrating later in the bottle grotto. In a room with a bunny thing that’s trapped, and two other guys, you have to kill them in a specific order for the nightmare key to drop. Love the video btw! (I love the og version of this game)
It hurts that I can't watch your BOTW series because I'm playing it right now and I want to find everything myself. But this series also looks very promising :)
There's a mouse guy who takes your picture in a bunch of places. His shop is just to the east of the moblin hideout. Not required but it's like the memories in BotW.
Also you can get bottles from fishing. There's one in the bottom of the pond that you can just barely see. They store fairies like in BotW which is gonna be super helpful for you since you're doing hero mode.

links awakening is special to me, both because it was made when i was born, and it was the first ever zelda game i beat and got every heart in. i played that thing so much that my gb copy broke somehow and i got trapped outside a wall on the corner of the map, making it impossible to get back in. it apparently messed with the code so bad that resetting did nothing, and a full wipe did nothing to fix the code XD
with how fun your other zelda playthroughs have been, im certain that this will be a fun one- i cant wait to watch^^

Quin, I don't think anyone has pointed this out to you, but Zelda Game and Watch was the first handheld Zelda game followed by Zelda Game Watch and then Link's Awakening so far as handheld games are concerned. Link's Awakening was however the first major handheld Zelda and the first Zelda on the original Gameboy.

When your planning on doing another Zelda game and your gonna do majora’s mask I would recommend you to do ocarina of time since majora is the sequel but idk do what you want.

Just a few things about the zelda series:
Other than a few common elements and the world they take place in, most of the games aren't really related to each other, the link you're playing as in botw is not the same as the one in this game and they take place hundreds if not thousnds of years apart. This game doesn't even take place in hyrule and the mabe village ruins in botw are just a refrence to this game.
Fun fact: those spicky black balls with eyes are gordons from the kirby series thats also made by nintendo.

Hard game
It's not that the game is hard, I think, but that it's a wildly different style from BOTW. That's one helluva jump you made.
Also you opted to play on Hero Mode for your first try, no wonder you were getting murdered at every turn.

I was a bit worried that you might not like this game given how different it is from Breath of the Wild, but I'm glad you're enjoying the more traditional Zelda format
Just to avoid confusion. Whenever hyrule is in a zelda game it never looks the same as any other zelda game.

I think the trick would be to not bump into anything sus. Also those yellow sun ball things can only be killed with a boomerang I think so don't bother with them. There's a window when the skull enemies jump up so just get out of the way before they land on you
