C64 has two types of video connectors. Older models used 5-pin connector which uses only composite. Newer models use 8 pin connector which uses chroma/luma aka S-Video, that's the best image quality available. One always wants a 8-pin connector unless the C64 has only 5 pins.
Great =D That HDMI upscaler is really good for the price. I've seen several other good YT channels using them. Lovely setup there, amazing how much you manage to squeeze in there =D
Really it is! it's impressive for what it can do :o) thank you! It's way more comfortable than it was before that's for sure! :o) All this felt like I was playing real life tetris at times lol
I was literally pointing at my screen, at the other machine when you put a disk in the A1200 @19.20 lol ...I also have my A1200 on my music production studio desk, sometimes I play Super Stardust AGA. I used Octamed Sound Studio hooked up to some midi synths with a HiSoft Pro Midi Interface (designed by a UK company) back in the 1990's which was a lot of fun...The Amiga and it's programs taught me how to produce music really...and it's something I do still to this day...although unsurprisingly I don't use it to make music today lol.
I use the indivision dvi card for my 1200 for interlaced modes but when gaming in non interlaced modes I use the RGB cable connected to my Commodore 1084S CRT monitor. The Amiga looks best on that monitor by far! Although interlaced modes will give you a headache on that monitor haha
nice video - looks like you have a ton of mods on your amiga. the reason your other C64 AV cable with fewer pins looks like composite is because it IS composite. the C64 can't do RGB but it can output S-video if the right cable is used. the cable with the fewer pins can only transmit composite video (on pin 4) or s-video luma (on pin 1) - you need the cable with a middle pin (pin 6) to get s-video color.
A lot changed has changed .. well done in connecting 3 machines and sound going to the amp yep lots of wires and switch boxes .. in which does take a lot of time getting it right but once you turn the Amiga on and load a mod switch left and right channels defo brings a smile ;) .. a very nice and cosy setup ..
I have to agree I recall my friend had a big old wooden speaker and some old amp plugged into his amiga back in the 1990,s..the deep bass and everything adds alot to the games and music. eventually I got the speakers and the amp, and the amiga after washing cars for 2 years after school to buy it second hand.
The C64 has no RGB output for sure, however, it has SVideo Chroma and Luma output, which results in a much better picture than composite only. The SVideo switch in the C64 connector is on pin 4. Cheers
Yes it's Luma Chroma, i've already got plans to put an Svideo port on it :o) Lol I was clueless back then but I felt and knew that C64 had more than just composite which is what everyone kept telling me, i didnt believe them lol Thanks for the info :o)

I have never heard the Fuge? music played so well! Thats is an amazing setup. I wish I bought the H60, but I went the very cheap way and bought the Elgato Game Capture HD - the one before - which you mentioned in the video. There is a lag with that one if I try to play the game on the PC capture screen, but not if I port the retro signal directly to a monitor, like you show in the video, and it has been great for capturing modern games. Although sadly it doesnt do 800 x 600, which is what I'd need to get the 4:3 from the Amiga - it only does 640x480 - basically 480p - or widescreen HD.
Be careful with the mini USB port on that Elgato Game Capture HD model, I wouldnt keep connecting/disconnect as much as you can help it. thats wht has goofed up on mine very soon and after looking around there are a lot of DIY fix videos on it which means it's not made well. Now I think the usb chip is goofed too. The HD60 just cleared up so much hassle which the other was giving me.
I guess cheap = cheap made, and sometimes its best to buy better gear. I bought this Elgato for ripping PS2 games, but the 1080p upscaler I have is not very good, and was again cheap, and so the 1080p signal its not crisp for my PS2 setup. In the end I went back to emulation. As you say, if you hang on for the A1200 Vampire then all issues would be solved, as it outputs to HDMI. But again, not sure how the 1080p HDMI signal would stack up against a 4:3 signal, and may still have to be edited. My feeling is the Vampire wont be out before X-mas, as they are expecting a huge demand. You can bet A1200 prices will rocket up in price once they appear. Someone should really bring out a basic version of the Framemeister, for around £100, and this would also be great.
Aw, thanks for the mention Ms. Mad! You are so nice. Love your setup. That SCART switcher is BOSS! It is a shame that we don't have SCART here in the USA. Where did you get your C64 DIN to SCART cable? I absolutely love it! DIN to S-Video is more popular here. I see one cable on Retro Gaming Cables website. It looks good, just curious where you got yours. I have been meaning to get some 64 stuff going on my Twitch. That cable would be perfect. Thanks so much and keep up the great work! -- Bill
Thanks for your kind words Bill.Nice a C64 stuff on your Twitch streams would be good too. The C64 Din to scart I got it from ebay, there are two versions available, one is the thinner cable with fewer pins (don't get that) and the one I have is the thicker cable with more pins, and has a sharper image and clearer image. I will PM you the link. Thanks again, i'm glad you enjoyed the video Bill.
That C64 scart cable you have there is a C64 S-video to scart cable. The problem is that your scart to HDMI converter does not support S-video so you get colourbleeding.
I was wondering about that, yes there is a lot of colour bleeding with this scart to HDMI however... when I mess around with the scart switchbox (switch it to another input and switch it back to the c64) the picture becomes sharp and clear as it should with S-video.. so there is some s-video but it takes that kind of tinkering with.
So much stuff connected, if i were you i'd invest in a surge/lightning protector and put one or more of those between the wall sockets and the equipment. (Personally, i unplug everything if there is lightning, and when i go away for a long time i unplug permanently till i get back).
Oh surge protector is a must, i've already got them :o) And yes when there is lightning It end to do the same, esp after my brother's VCR and a few things blew up from just the first strike.
I had exactly the same HDMI Video Converter, worked great with Amiga but it stopped working after a month. Later I bought Indivision AGA Mk2cr and even later Framemeister XRGB mini. Problem with both of these is that it takes too much time to switch resolutions. It takes 5 seconds on XRGB, 2 seconds on Indy. It's annoying when watching demos which change resolutions on the fly (for instance, they use 320x256 to display most of the content but occasionally switch to a higher resolution to display a HAM image).
I just noticed this comment now. I had no idea there were issues like this with these two, I've even heard someone with an Indivision AGA say that it doesnt work with the Elgato capture card for some reason so he was ordering this Flylink Scart to HDMI which, is ridiculous really! I held back from Indivision AGA because I was waiting for the Vampire 1200 all time, and after hearing all this, i'm kinda glad I did!
Great video and nice setup. I have a couple of those upscalers. I find they have horrible input lag. Pinball Dreams is a perfect game to test that. I have BenQ BL 702A and BL 912 screens that will support Amiga 15KHz RGB directly without any scandoubler or upscalers. The difference between connecting the Amigas directly to these screens VS using HD Scart to HDMI scaler shown in this video between the Amigas and the screens are stunning. First of all the input lag is horrible (for me), making some games unplayable for me. Second, these upscalers cannot do a smooth 50Hz scrolling. When it's running in PAL mode it will use blurring while moving (scrolling). And third, the colours are oversaturated. With all that said, for the price these upscalers are usable. Depends on the type of games.
Actually mine doesnt have that much lag, it may have a tiny bit but there's one thing about these upscalers, they seem to be hit and miss as in different people getting different results from them. I realised at some point that there are copies of it being made which arent as good. If you get one make sure it's a 'Flylink" one www.amazon.co.uk/Flylink-Converter-Upscaler-Coaxial-Consoles/dp/B00W9DJMNC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1511738598&sr=8-1&keywords=flylink+upscaler Even the flylink ones (the better ) arent perfect of course, they can't handle scrolling or flashing of sprites very well, in some cases you do see some flicking horizontal lines rather than actual flashing. But the lag on mine is no where near as bad as some have complained about, they might be getting the bad copies? any sort of lag would irritate me!
Nice setup. Knowing the amount of cables it takes it looks very clean. On the c64, as far as I know it outputs a Chroma and a Luma signal, but how that translates to rgb I don't know.
I probably didn't interpret your question about the C64 video output signal correctly but I found a website that has some additional information on it. Apparently the C64 video output delivers S-Video, Chroma/Luma and Composite as well as audio. I never knew the old C64 was so versatile. Then again, video signals weren't that complex back then and were usually complicated by RF-converters. Again, sorry if I'm answering the wrong question but hopefully this is useful: ilesj.wordpress.com/2012/03/30/c64-av-cable-theory-and-practice/ Apparently you could make a cable with a DIN plug that connects only two or three pins for audio and composite video. But you could also create a cable that connects all video signals, requiring a thicker cable with more cores.
True, the C64 is not RGB. Your original cable was an original Vic 20/C=64 cable for Composite only, your new cable is a Chroma/Luma cable, or, basically, Svideo+Stereo Audio. www.c64-wiki.com/wiki/A/V_Jack LOL< yes, I also have that HD Upscaler, as well as a similar HDMI Splitter for my home theater setup so I can run a 50ft HDMI (yep) to another room sometimes hahahah.
John Willaford. OK that would explain too.. But the thickness of the cable will account for shielding tho. All those signals and emf interference.. Lol
The c64 cable is thicker. So maybe it's better shielding? Svideo can look great if the signal has adequate shielding. The other extra pins in that din may just be more connections to ground. Again adding to grounding. Always good for any analogue video signal. I'll research that tho further :)
You are getting really good at pointing at the i's!! ;o) Such a sophisticated setup. Very nice! I scanned the other comments before writing here, and I see someone already told you about C64's s-video signal. What I just wrote, probably took up more space than just explaining it, lol... :) I'd like an Elgato HD60 capture device. I use a BlackMagic Intensity Shuttle (USB3). I got that one, because it had a ton of ports INCLUDING the scarce s-video, which I needed for my C64. But I never got it to accept the signal directly from the machine. Such a letdown. :/ HDMI from the upscaler works fine. I borrowed a HD60 from a friend to compare, and it's just better! I can't get a throughput picture with mine, UNLESS the capture app is running on the computer. When I'm done capturing, I have to take out the HDMI cables and put them together to create a direct line. Hassle. The HD60 has throughput all the time! I was thinking.. Is there a way to force 4:3 aspect on your monitor, so the picture won't get stretched? If there is, I'd recommend you do that, to view it as intended. ;o) 19:40.. I like that tune. Being the C64 guy I am, I remember it being used in the game Killer Watt. It sounds so gooooood.. :)
4:3 is important for me too, but its not so easy with most setups. First of all, the upscaler may only output 720p or 1080p - both widescreen - which means you have to capture the widescreen image to preserve it. My Elgato only captures in standard 640x480, or 720p/1080p, and only at 30fps - not 50. So either way my image would be too small, too wide, and too stuttery - with the capture crapping out over any high res flicker. The best upscaler is to have something native on the Amiga side, like the Invdivision ECS or AGA, as this doubles the 4:3 scan signal and preserves it. But then you still gotta find a ripper which can handle 800 x 600 (or whatever the upscaler upscales it to) and 4:3, but as soon as you rip in 720 or 1080, its back to looking widescreen again. On the Amiga there is also the problem of some games being programmed in NTSC mode, like Arabian Nights or Test Drive 2 - with a thick black border in the lower screen area, so its back to looking widescreen again, unless you play American games in NTSC mode. I'll stick to the emulator for now but would be interested to find the perfect solution so I can buy an Amiga!
@lifeschool For video creation, you can very easily fix the aspect during editing (depending on the program, of course). I see it can be an issue, when just using the Amiga normally. Especially if using a monitor. Most LCD TV's can force 4:3. Regarding upscalers, I can only speak for the XRGB-mini, which can also do this. I am really not good friends with the Indivision AGA. I can NOT get the Indivision to run smooth, or close enough to smooth, at 50fps. I have tried running it through the XRGB-mini first, and also tried directly to a monitor. I made what must be at least 100-150 different 50hz profiles, and it never works for my eyes, sadly. I took it out, and just use normal RGB now (which is just fine for my setup).
@Casual Commodore Thank you! :o) Haha it’s amazing what a little ‘i’ pointing practice can do ;o)) I havent tried other modern capture devices, only the two Elgato ones since I heard they’re good. Thing is you have a Framemeister so all you need is a capture device with a HDMI input really. Yes that is the downside to the Elgato, the throughput only works if it’s connected (I do get a picture without the app running, however it keeps cutitng out periodically so it’s just not worth it. so you keep having to remove and insert cables to use it which kinda concerns me slightly with wear and tear! unfortunately it’s the upscaler that is broadcasting in stretched HD, I can’t do much abotu it, though I correct the ratio these days on nostalgia time since my webcam needs that space at the side, kinda works out well ;o)) but I do that manually in the video editor. Btw hows your cassette deck doing?
@Lifeschool Yes without a doubt indivision is ideal, however i’m waiting on the Vampire A1200, or I would have got it ages ago really. EDIT: just noticed Casual Commodore's comment on the Indivision AGA.. Yes actually I remember you mentioning that on The Guru Meditations video, that you were having issues with it. That is a shame, I thought it would be beyond such issues.
That's one great setup all sound and three computers connected to one monitor. When you record the retro gaming what computer do you use for that? Thanks in advance maybe you could show us how you do that sometime the recording of video from a game :-)
Thanks David! :o) Ah the desktop which I use for video editing etc? Actually all you'd have to do is install the elgato capture device and it's software. It captures the video and audio from the game and the mic and saves it as a video file.
So much crammed in such a small area and kept so tidy. I can never be tidy for more than 1 day, then I'm messing around again. You can ignore most of my comments today, I'm going the Amiga play list.
Yes indeed they are! and yes that's what happens if you turn on both Amigas at once, but the C64 screen doesnt even appear if the Amiga is on lol so it's all good as long as I use one computer at once.
Good to know it can still function correctly! If you ever want a SCART switch with even better picture quality and still cheap ($30), there's the Bandridge SVB7725. It's manual though, but the picture has zero blurriness, no video noise and no brightness loss. You have to cut a trace on the motherboard though, but that's not too long to do. This Ebay seller is based in Europe and has a bunch of them for sale at 23 € : www.ebay.ca/itm/Bandridge-5-Way-Scart-Selector-SVB7725-/252849124078?hash=item3adefb72ee:g:VcIAAOSwpP9Y59a9
Thanks! I dont mind it being manual as long as the image doesnt bleed! Actually, I may prefer it manual as I can select which device I want, i'm not sure what exactly would determine what device is selected.
Always love your videos and i have tried to replicate your setup in quite a few ways as it also would work best for me too, now i have the same HD upscaler connected to my amiga 1200 and i have it connected to a pc monitor which is fine, the thing is the picture is quite offset to the right and not central, i was wondering if you know of any tips maybe to sort this problem, also games are in the same screen position, i have tried to look around the internet but no answer really, just several people having the same issue, but then some are not having this issue, if you have any pointers or anyone else on here has some possible answers that would be great. Thanks in advance :)
Thanks! :o) The only thing I can suggest is trying the different screenmodes on the HD upscaler itself, this thing is offset that's for sure and as far as I know there are no position settings. I'm looking to get the OSSC upscaler, it looks great.
I just bought and tried a scan doubler from ebay, and all i can say it amazing, i can move position change all sorts of settings for the picture and display in several different screen modes, it does however of course with being a scan doubler connect to the vga port on your screen, but fantastic picture and now i have a centered screen, if you wanted to see this is the ebay link. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Amiga-ScanDoubler-RGB-to-VGA-500-600-1200-1500-2000-3000-4000-CDTV-SX-32-sx-1/131674985056?epid=703601215&hash=item1ea870d260:g:vUwAAOSwirZTrtIa

Fantastic! Thanks for the news about all this! Ive been reading bits around here and there about this... I really really hope it doesnt end up being too much freakin money lol.. I do expect it to be high but hoping it wont be out of reach for me! Bascially the vampire has everything we've ever dreamed of all this time lol
Wonderful setup you have Maddi, you make great use of the space for sure. It's a shame the scart switch isn't up to the rest of the setup, if you can get hold of one I'd recommend the gscartsw (info here retrorgb.com/gscartsw.html ) which should completely eliminate the interference, they are a little pricey though (understandable giving the quality of the switch) and the current production run is out of stock until the designer opens up the next batch of pre-orders.
Thank you Marc! :o) Yikes that is an expensive scart switch but it looks amazing and like exactly something I would need (and want) but freakin ouch! that price haha It's definitely worth it to keep my eyes open for something better that is for sure. there are times where I feel the need to have the computers on at the same time. Thanks for the recommendation!
It's an expensive hobby to be fair, especially these days. I picked up my A1200 for something like £20 about 12 years ago but it's worth a heck of a lot more today with the ACA 030 accelerator, Indivision AGA upgrades etc. I even picked up an A600 bundle a few years ago for £60 just because it included two Zipstik joysticks :oD (my absolute favourite controller from back in the day and I no longer have my original).
Nice wb, im having problems customize my classicwb lite. The Colours of the backgroud that i choose looks strange, but worst are the icons. Im going crazy. How can i do this correctly? Thanks for the help in advance
Thanks! Yes I think it's because you need to set your colours to a higher number (though it will take more chipram) .. if you go to preferences and Screenmode, select the amount of colours, 32 or 64 colours will make the picture look okay I guess, if you have enough memory then set it to 128 colours. I'm assuming that's the issue you're having. Hope this helps!
MsMadLemon thanks, its still not solved, i tried that. Take a look at the picture of my wb, maybe it helps www.dropbox.com/s/qy1cwdgoe0n6w55/Photo%2009-09-17%2C%2021%2010%2019.jpg?dl=0 Thanks for the help
Yikes! you're right, the icon colours are all goofed up hmm you may have a corrupt icon library or something, i've not seen this, if I got this I would try to replace the icon.library (with a copy of the same version of course) What machine are you running?
MsMadLemon i have a amiga 1200 with aca 1233n 40mhz, rapidroad and 8gb cf with classicwb lite . This just when i try to change a picture as background. My normal wb is this, and works properly, take a look, thanks: www.dropbox.com/s/qlwppn2qxzxbgrk/Photo%2009-09-17%2C%2021%2018%2051.jpg?dl=0
Ooh hold on, classic wb on setup has an option to use fastram instead of chipram for certain things, I remember my first classicwb install, deluxe paint did the same, you open it and you couldnt use it, jsut kept flickering with stupid colours like this... maybe you selected this option on and it's using fastram instead of chipram! .. in my new install I didnt opt for this and deluxe paint works fine now. It's the only thing I can think of. .. i'm sure the option is around somewhere though i'm not sure where or if it is.
Good idea, but I deal with retro computers way more than consoles :o) But I have a friend who likes console systems more, maybe he will be more interested in the idea. ruclips.net/channel/UCcrBl1B-8Ot-MBEPJ8USnHw
Nah lol i'm only into retro games, not modern :o) .. the only modern game I play sometimes is Minecraft, but even that maybe because it's got a retro feel to it :o)
HI MsMadLemon, hope you can help? Where did you buy the C64 cable with more pins. Have the same upscaler for my C64, but no any picture. Probably wrong cable.
Hi Fred, I got it from ebay, in particular this listing, but it really should work, you should be getting something! check the upscaler settings. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/COMMODORE-C64-C128-S-VIDEO-AUDIO-TV-SCART-CABLE-LEAD-/321494296321?hash=item4ada8da701:g:3IUAAOSw7NNT8J69
MsMadLemon Hi, Thanks! Will order it today. Tried pushing the buttons to change settings, but nothing on screen. Will wait for this new cable. Will let you know what the result is.
Use to play that tocatto mod load but not with a demo it was on an aminet cd. I recently got the same up scaler. I had a strange ghosting around the mouse cursor on mine, do you notice this on yours. Mine died after one day so maybe it was a sign it was faulty. was not impressed.
I don't get anything like that with the upscaler, in fact all my nostalgia time videos, tutorial, soundtracker videos etc have been done through this upscaler... It sounds like you got a faulty one for sure, I hope people aren't making knock offs of this!
Just to let you know I order another one off Amazon. Under the brand name Flylink. Received it and happy to say it is working perfectly so far and nice clear picture. :D
Yes! Flylink sounds about right actually! I was trying to think of the name :o) .. It seems there are identical looking ones made by others! This may explain the mixed views on this. Yay you got a good one! :oD
THAT DVD MOD BEHIND. How could you do this to your Amiga.. There should be an institution taking care of people like you, hurting Amigas! BTW, you should really take a look at Indivision expansion for image digital output. Take care!
LISTEN! i've had others scream at me for doing mods on Amigas, do not mistake me for a weak target! Others have done much more. Maybe there should be an institution taking care of people like you who are highly intolerant! If you dont like modding Amigas then YOU don't do it yourself... you don't own everybody else's Amiga!
C64 has two types of video connectors. Older models used 5-pin connector which uses only composite. Newer models use 8 pin connector which uses chroma/luma aka S-Video, that's the best image quality available. One always wants a 8-pin connector unless the C64 has only 5 pins.
Fantastic video! I've never really worried too much about Amiga audio output but this has changed my mind. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing your setup 🙂👍 I too use the Elgato HD60 capture device for recording. Certainly the best one that, I ever used.
Really nice setup! Looks real cozy, in the corner under the roof =)
Great =D That HDMI upscaler is really good for the price. I've seen several other good YT channels using them. Lovely setup there, amazing how much you manage to squeeze in there =D
Really it is! it's impressive for what it can do :o)
thank you! It's way more comfortable than it was before that's for sure! :o)
All this felt like I was playing real life tetris at times lol
A Datel Midi Master!!!!. It must be 25 years since I've seen one of those!
I have no idea what made me decide to hang onto it when selling my Amigas back in the day, but i'm glad I did :o)
Digging the setup as always. I've imported a few of the same scart switches (well, black versions) and they worked pretty well.
Yes they do a decent job actually. Thanks Todd.
Todd's Nerd Cave s
I was literally pointing at my screen, at the other machine when you put a disk in the A1200 @19.20 lol ...I also have my A1200 on my music production studio desk, sometimes I play Super Stardust AGA. I used Octamed Sound Studio hooked up to some midi synths with a HiSoft Pro Midi Interface (designed by a UK company) back in the 1990's which was a lot of fun...The Amiga and it's programs taught me how to produce music really...and it's something I do still to this day...although unsurprisingly I don't use it to make music today lol.
Wonderful setup! Love the ergonomics of it all.
Thank you! :o)
I believe the "better" C64 video connector is using "separate Video and color" AKA S-Video.
Oooh I have one of them HDMI converters..... work's ok....😊 Love the setup you have.
A very good video, interesting content and great presentation. I used to have a Commodore 64 in the last century!!!
Thank you!
You have an interesting accent. I'm trying to work out where you're from.
nice video - looks like you have a ton of mods on your amiga.
the reason your other C64 AV cable with fewer pins looks like composite is because it IS composite.
the C64 can't do RGB but it can output S-video if the right cable is used. the cable with the fewer pins can only transmit composite video (on pin 4) or s-video luma (on pin 1) - you need the cable with a middle pin (pin 6) to get s-video color.
Turning the Amiga on, loading a mod and listening to it through the Hi-fi, it makes it all worth while in the end :oD
Thank you!
It seemed like you were building a time machine there :-D What a fantastic retro set up though....love it! :-D
The C64 has no RGB output for sure, however, it has SVideo Chroma and Luma output, which results in a much better picture than composite only. The SVideo switch in the C64 connector is on pin 4. Cheers
Yes it's Luma Chroma, i've already got plans to put an Svideo port on it :o)
Lol I was clueless back then but I felt and knew that C64 had more than just composite which is what everyone kept telling me, i didnt believe them lol Thanks for the info :o)
Hi MsMAdLemon, thanks for the tip, I have been looking for a SCART Upscaler, I have just ordered what you have, thanks for the recommendation. :D
My pleasure! It's a good one, I hope it serves you well :oD

I love this AmiGirl! 😊
great setup! Nice video and great sound. Keep on!
0:35 - Love it .. wake up ... AMIGAAAA!!! Fall asleep again
Lol!
Thanks Ms. Mad!!!
I got a 'free' mint condition 1541 with my SX64, I'm so old I've forgotten how unaffordable a 1541 must have been for my Dad in the early 80s lol
So much stuff connected, if i were you i'd invest in a surge/lightning protector and put one or more of those between the wall sockets and the equipment.
(Personally, i unplug everything if there is lightning, and when i go away for a long time i unplug permanently till i get back).
Oh surge protector is a must, i've already got them :o)
And yes when there is lightning It end to do the same, esp after my brother's VCR and a few things blew up from just the first strike.
If you get one make sure it's a 'Flylink" one www.amazon.co.uk/Flylink-Converter-Upscaler-Coaxial-Consoles/dp/B00W9DJMNC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1511738598&sr=8-1&keywords=flylink+upscaler
Even the flylink ones (the better ) arent perfect of course, they can't handle scrolling or flashing of sprites very well, in some cases you do see some flicking horizontal lines rather than actual flashing.
Thank you! ..Yes I think i'm the queen of hiding cables lol! They irritate me.
Thanks for the info about the C64 video output!
Again, sorry if I'm answering the wrong question but hopefully this is useful: ilesj.wordpress.com/2012/03/30/c64-av-cable-theory-and-practice/
Apparently you could make a cable with a DIN plug that connects only two or three pins for audio and composite video. But you could also create a cable that connects all video signals, requiring a thicker cable with more cores.
True, the C64 is not RGB. Your original cable was an original Vic 20/C=64 cable for Composite only, your new cable is a Chroma/Luma cable, or, basically, Svideo+Stereo Audio.
www.c64-wiki.com/wiki/A/V_Jack
LOL< yes, I also have that HD Upscaler, as well as a similar HDMI Splitter for my home theater setup so I can run a 50ft HDMI (yep) to another room sometimes hahahah.
Thanks for clarifying! :o)
John Willaford. OK that would explain too.. But the thickness of the cable will account for shielding tho. All those signals and emf interference.. Lol
That SCART->HDMI converter, it makes all sound go MONO.
Weird! Mine doesnt or I would notice! Did you make sure to get a Flylink one? there are other copies of this one going around it seems.
Excellent video! Keep up the great work. :)
Thanks David :o)
The c64 cable is thicker. So maybe it's better shielding? Svideo can look great if the signal has adequate shielding. The other extra pins in that din may just be more connections to ground. Again adding to grounding. Always good for any analogue video signal. I'll research that tho further :)
You are getting really good at pointing at the i's!! ;o) Such a sophisticated setup. Very nice! I scanned the other comments before writing here, and I see someone already told you about C64's s-video signal. What I just wrote, probably took up more space than just explaining it, lol... :)
I'd like an Elgato HD60 capture device.
If there is, I'd recommend you do that, to view it as intended. ;o)
@lifeschool
For video creation, you can very easily fix the aspect during editing (depending on the program, of course).
@Casual Commodore
Thank you! :o)
Haha it’s amazing what a little ‘i’ pointing practice can do ;o))
I havent tried other modern capture devices, only the two Elgato ones since I heard they’re good.
@Lifeschool
Yes without a doubt indivision is ideal, however i’m waiting on the Vampire A1200, or I would have got it ages ago really.
EDIT: just noticed Casual Commodore's comment on the Indivision AGA.. Yes actually I remember you mentioning that on The Guru Meditations video, that you were having issues with it. That is a shame, I thought it would be beyond such issues.
And i've also got the CD32 music of fire & Ice first level stuck on repeat in my mind for some reason.
Whoa, I see all the MIDI and sampler gear.. do you do Octamed music?
Not Octamed as such but Soundtracker yes..ruclips.net/video/sXSUlwu4yFo/видео.html more videos coming up about that :o)
Well-assorted hardware :)
That's one great setup all sound and three computers connected to one monitor. When you record the retro gaming what computer do you use for that?
Thanks in advance maybe you could show us how you do that sometime the recording of video from a game :-)
Thanks David! :o)
Ah the desktop which I use for video editing etc? Actually all you'd have to do is install the elgato capture device and it's software. It captures the video and audio from the game and the mic and saves it as a video file.
Brilliant, great video! I enjoyed it so much!
By the way, I need a compilation of your music!! :D
Thank you, i'm glad you enjoyed this one.
And you're welcome to a compilation of my music, question is, how to get it to you ;o))
Oh, I don't know... I might share a folder on my dropbox perhaps? Would that be a good option? :-)
That could be an option yes :o)
You got pm! :-)
Wow I loved this video. Do you have a Commodore VIC 20
Thanks! No not a Vic20, but I have another system on it´s way to me ;o)
So much crammed in such a small area and kept so tidy. I can never be tidy for more than 1 day, then I'm messing around again.
You can ignore most of my comments today, I'm going the Amiga play list.
I'm glad it's not just me who struggles to keep everything tidy lol
I really love your vids MsMadLemon! =D
Thank you! :o)
AHH so it's not just me that has to have everything set up all the time..... lol you have more room than I do lol....more cables too....
ruclips.net/channel/UCXvcKM7gOMwMvd2Oky3JYPg I've just broken my RUclips verginity lol
@19:45 It's J.S. Bach: Toccata and Fuge in D minor
One this that's missing is a CRT! LCD screens are just not the same for the Amiga!
quality SCART switchers are actually a pain to find >_< I take it is was the switcher that was to blame for the picture problem at 17:50?
Yes indeed they are! and yes that's what happens if you turn on both Amigas at once, but the C64 screen doesnt even appear if the Amiga is on lol so it's all good as long as I use one computer at once.
Good to know it can still function correctly! If you ever want a SCART switch with even better picture quality and still cheap ($30), there's the Bandridge SVB7725. It's manual though, but the picture has zero blurriness, no video noise and no brightness loss. You have to cut a trace on the motherboard though, but that's not too long to do.
This Ebay seller is based in Europe and has a bunch of them for sale at 23 € :
www.ebay.ca/itm/Bandridge-5-Way-Scart-Selector-SVB7725-/252849124078?hash=item3adefb72ee:g:VcIAAOSwpP9Y59a9
Thanks! :o)
The only thing I can suggest is trying the different screenmodes on the HD upscaler itself, this thing is offset that's for sure and as far as I know there are no position settings.

Yikes that is an expensive scart switch but it looks amazing and like exactly something I would need (and want) but freakin ouch! that price haha
It's definitely worth it to keep my eyes open for something better that is for sure. there are times where I feel the need to have the computers on at the same time.
Converters adapters adapted converters cable mayhem!
Mayhem in cable adapter land!
Floppy 5:1/4 are the sexiest.
Nice stuff.
Freakin awesome
Do you notice any input lag when using your HDMI upscaler on your monitor?
Not at all with this one, or it would just annoy me.
Awesome. Great setup too, btw. Love how nicely organized it all is. Must look fantastic all lit up in the dark with the vintage audio gear as well.
Me and my friends play my Neo Geo AES all the time on it and we've never noticed any lag. It seems the same on it as on my PVM.
Thanks! Indeed it does, the VU meters and all :o)
That upscaler actually makes a great job for capturing
Take a look at the picture of my wb, maybe it helps
www.dropbox.com/s/qy1cwdgoe0n6w55/Photo%2009-09-17%2C%2021%2010%2019.jpg?dl=0
Thanks for the help
Yikes! you're right, the icon colours are all goofed up hmm you may have a corrupt icon library or something, i've not seen this, if I got this I would try to replace the icon.library (with a copy of the same version of course)
What machine are you running?
MsMadLemon i have a amiga 1200 with aca 1233n 40mhz, rapidroad and 8gb cf with classicwb lite . This just when i try to change a picture as background.
My normal wb is this, and works properly, take a look, thanks:
www.dropbox.com/s/qlwppn2qxzxbgrk/Photo%2009-09-17%2C%2021%2018%2051.jpg?dl=0
Ooh hold on, classic wb on setup has an option to use fastram instead of chipram for certain things, I remember my first classicwb install, deluxe paint did the same, you open it and you couldnt use it, jsut kept flickering with stupid colours like this... maybe you selected this option on and it's using fastram instead of chipram! .. in my new install I didnt opt for this and deluxe paint works fine now. It's the only thing I can think of. .. i'm sure the option is around somewhere though i'm not sure where or if it is.
Can you review PlayStation 1,2,3,4 if you have any of them ? Compare the graphics 😁
Good idea, but I deal with retro computers way more than consoles :o)
But I have a friend who likes console systems more, maybe he will be more interested in the idea. ruclips.net/channel/UCcrBl1B-8Ot-MBEPJ8USnHw
MsMadLemon so you don't play PS4? 😱 I used to love the old games Like super Mario and Donkey Kong but seems like I only play FIFA now days lol
Nah lol i'm only into retro games, not modern :o) .. the only modern
game I play sometimes is Minecraft, but even that maybe because it's got a retro feel to it :o)
MsMadLemon Wow amazing! Your preserving the history of old games lol . 👍 imagine what some can be worth later on 💰 💰 💰
That intro music you use sounds like a remixed version of SynthSong2 . Did you make this ?
Yes I made that, back in the day i must have been inspired by it.
MsMadLemon that's very cool I'd love to hear the whole track
Sure, it's actually on my soundcloud: soundcloud.com/msmad-lemon/madija-flying-high
Thank you :) Also just kinda discovered you Great videos
Thank you! and welcome :o)
You're so cool.
I thought nobody cared about Framemeister since OSSC (open source scan converter) came out.
i have that exact SCART switch. except black
J s Bach's Toccata and Fugue in G minor I think...
Correction, D minor...
Plinths very much the theme then! 😂
Freakin plinth central over here ;o)))
MsMadLemon Loving the Amiga videos! Keep em coming! :)
Ok thanks maddi :) in that case I'll order another as i got a refund from amazon. I hope no one is making bad copies too.
:oD
7:27 name of the song please???
It's one of my own, called Utopia: soundcloud.com/msmad-lemon/utopia
thank you very much
Great video. Consider me a new subscriber!
THAT DVD MOD BEHIND. How could you do this to your Amiga.. There should be an institution taking care of people like you, hurting Amigas!
BTW, you should really take a look at Indivision expansion for image digital output.
Take care!
LISTEN! i've had others scream at me for doing mods on Amigas,
do not mistake me for a weak target! Others have done much more.
Maybe there should be an institution taking care of people like you who are highly intolerant!
If you dont like modding Amigas then YOU don't do it yourself... you don't own everybody else's Amiga!
MsMadLemon wow.. I was kidding.. relax..
Okay, apologies, I wasn't aware.
It's OK. I understand. :-) Take care. :-)
I am holding on for the Vampire 1200 which is why I havent got an Indivision yet, just seeing what happens. Take care :o)
What a freakin confusion!!??
