Well worth the effort of the group, and a climatic end with a draw into the new book. I really appreciate and admire the level of work you and your players play off of each other.
Panivar's time stop monologue literally gave me shivers, and also a very evil GM idea for my player's ancient red dragon BGE who's coming up soon... Well done!
Marius is definitely my favourite character here. He is so epic. I think he would've made a perfect knight. In case of the finale I was kinda disappointed though, as while a super-powerful Panivar Lotheed is a great BBEG, I really dislike the moments when the heroes are disempowered and are at mercy of a foe they have no hope to outmatch.
Absolutely amazing once again! The payoff, the drama, the suspense! Marius' duel is of course a personal favorite of mine. And I hope that Sir Gul can eventually appear again, as an ally. Though that might be more wishful thinking than anything else. Oh also, Titus' ultimate fate was a treat too haha. But yea, great work as always. Eagerly awaiting the next one!
@@PresidentofSolos love that people are enjoying the duel and also the fate of Titus, something which I wrestled with as a GM because it happened ‘off camera’ so to speak
@@TheMythkeeper Speaking as a GM I think its important to have things happen "off screen", the player's vision of the world isn't perfect so they can't see absolutely every event. Speaking as a player, I don't mind stuff like that happening at all really. and in Titus' case it was nice to know that he wouldn't be a threat/problem later as his exit left that a bit ambiguous. In both cases I'm a firm supporter of it. Off screen stuff that inhibits the players happens all the time (the main villain having a whole evil plan that's working outside of their knowledge being the most obvious example) so having something like this is important I think.
I never thought about using Time Stop as a way of letting a villain do their speeches. I'll have to remember that for future reference. Wasn't expecting the heavy lore bombs with it but casually moving souls around like that is a good flex. I thought maybe the party would have to go on for a while with a Poppet instead of an Android honestly! I enjoyed the handling of the "disposing" of Count Lotheed a lot. Violence is the obvious solution but it's politics and him just fighting his way out wouldn't probably be the most realistic thing to so. A duel gets a good blend of story and gameplay, especially since it's one between two people who had an amicable relationship. I can only imagine the other players freaking out or getting excited when Marius got hit or landed one haha. Great video as always! Enjoyed the political angle of things greatly and how it was the "win the hearts and minds" approach story wise.
Yeah this whole chapter in the AP really goes to show that you can do a heavy political campaign and still get plenty of action, excitement and cinematic moments. The end of the chapter was ultimately very satisfying. I don't even think of this as having side-stepped the final confrontation, either, it just played out in a different way. And yeah, as you can guess, playing Panivar was tons of fun!
Given his thorough and detailed research on all of the lore of Golarion; timelines, nations, faiths, governments, bloodlines, schools of combat, schools of magic, various merchant enterprises, trade routes, the geography... Mythmaker is the kind of Game Master who will blow minds, and force all of us to do our Pathfinder lore homework. I found the recent "travel guide" indispensable...
Things are heating up now! So hyped for season 3! The bit with the night swan's letter was *chef's kiss*, and I'm interested to see if Gul pops up again.
Incredible. Hats off to you. This is beyond epic building and any concerns I, as a player, might’ve had about “but does Marius retire to become a child baron and should I roll up a new character” would vanish immediately. This guy has to go down.
And what a season finale it was! after the foreshadowing earlier with the portraits and lineage this ending was just awesome as a viewer. Counting the days to the next episode! So many cool lore drops and hints, the thing I saw coming the least was the twilight soul.
Thank you! We had a blast playing chapter 2, but I will say from a production and story standpoint, now that I have most of chapter 3 written, recorded, and edited, it definitely gets better from here. Chapter 3 is I think stronger overall. Can't wait to share it with you all.
Just in time, again(hectic day). I guess lots of speech checks were involved(and passed, judging by the outcome). Kinda expected a spanner in the works of the heroes' party, and was not disappointed. So, diyanah is free of the rage if we saw right(now that was a doozy of a thing to do to a 6y old boy, ccc(slavic version of "tsk tsk tsk")). Big bad has arrived on the stage, can't wait to see how next season plays out.
Yoooooooo villain intro (Well, technically, he's been lurking around the party for the entire second season, which ks of course way better) they should honestly just take all the modifications you made to this AP and republish it like the 2e version of Kingmaker at this point
That monolog was very cool, though I can certainly see some players finding it jarring. Did any of your players take issue? Did you allow saves for anything that happened during the Time Stop? Did mister circle man have a special item that allowed him to communicate with the party during the timestop, or something else?
No one seemed that bothered by this choice and in 1E Time Stop does not permit a saving throw. Admittedly, it also only gives up to 30 seconds of time but I just thought this would be fun.
@@TheMythkeeper I meant saves for the Magic Jar shenanigans. Demi and Kinda Diy were effected by it. But I do like your reasoning with using Chekov's Gun Time Stop.
@@raptordaraptor7861 Oh yeah, I should totally have called for saves for the Magic Jar shenanigans, but honestly I think all my players kind of knew we had switched to a more narrative kind of game mode at the end there, and were happy to let me run through my prepared speech.
What an ending!!! Did you give that whole monologue to your players during the game? That was an epic bad guy speech for sure! Also, was the thing about the PC's finding a pregnant woman on the road a recap that something that didn't happen in the actual video? I listen to these, so my apology if you answered this question in text during the videos :)
I gave the whole monologue as written to the players. This was one of those rare moments where I wrote something in preparation or a session that made it more or less uncut into the recap here on the channel. As for the pregnant lady, that's a scripted encounter from the adventure that occurred, so I included it for completeness even though it had no baring really on the story or plot. I wrestle a lot with decisions like that - ie: how much to edit for my audience at home. Maybe someone running this AP will get some value out of me mentioning that I did run that encounter, maybe not.
@@TheMythkeeper Thanks for the answer. I was worried that I missed the video in which they came across the pregnant woman. Thanks for clearing that up for me. Can't wait for season 3 :) p.s. You did an amazing job with the monologue. Well done!!!
timestop should only last 1d4+1 rounds that is 36 seconds max. and the affected should be invulnerable to spells cast by Panivar. Other than that great story telling sir.
I almost starting swearing at Marius when he accepted the duel! Love him but- my god! This is no place for honour above all else!!
