Punda Maria Restcamp Campsite Review - Kruger National Park

Punda Maria Restcamp is located in the far North of the Kruger National Park in the Limpopo province of South Africa. It is around 6 and a half hours’ drive from Johannesburg.
Punda Maria has a rich history and the landscape and vegetation is unique to this area of the park.

Not a bush camp but if you're camping in Kruger I can recommend Tsendze, Balule, Punda Maria and Maroela!

Nice review! One of our fave camps as well - our stock standard trip the last couple of years is to camp for 4 nights at Punda and then 4 nights at Shingwedzi...I tend to avoid the south like the plague these days. Last time we had multiple leopard sightings (3 around Punda, including at the waterhole) and 4 leopards in 24hrs around Shingwedzi. We also had lions take down a buffalo in a clearing next to the road leading to Pafuri and had max 5 vehicles in the sighting for at least 3 hours. But, don't tell anyone, the North is quiet and not fun! ;)

Hi Eva, it's a great little camp! The ablutions need some attention but it's great otherwise. I usually only review the campsite (as I only camp). The bungalows look fine though. There are 18 2-bed units and 2 family bungalows. They have their own bathrooms and AC but from what I can see the braai facilities are communal. The family bungalows do have their own braai's. Enjoy your trip!

True, it’s an hour closer than Louis Trichardt. Have you tried to stop buy anything in Thohoyandou lately? I don’t recommend it.
