The squeeze LD version is so sharp and clear, and the colors are spot on perfect and not off in any way. I have this film on Blu-ray, and I'll have to watch it and compare it to the squeeze LD disc. But I did notice the Hi-Vision Muse disc was so cloudy. I can't believe the company who put the Hi-Vision muse disc out didn't pay more attention to quality or notice the way the picture looked.
There is definitely more detail in the Hi-Vision. If you look at the hair on her head when she grabs the newspaper, you can make out the individual hairs much better. I suspect with some color/contrast correction on the playback set, the Hi-Vision would be the superior picture. It's just the low contract and a little of the blurry/smeary sampling that takes it down a notch.
yeah, much more detail. the odd and washed out colors on the Muse looks worse than what it looks like on the screen. I will redo the capturing when I have time and see if there is something in the setting I need to change to make it more look like what you see on the screen. Also I realized that the default rendering for youtube setting in DaVinci Resolve is 24fps. That's why you see the jerkiness. I will need to re render it in 60fps as well. I hope to get this done within April
The hi vision is impressive and realy close to the new 4k transfert but lack the color of the THX release, i have an early 2k thx version on bluray that look like the thx laserdisc.
I really hope you come back and finish the set. Or at least pick a few of the more notable ones to show what Muse is capable of. I read that Jumanji is almost blu-ray quality, and I'd love to know if that's true.
@@robaloxxx I realize that making these videos is time consuming. If you don't have time to make them, can you just tell us which movie Muse discs are the best quality? I've heard that both Jumanji and Cliffhanger are good, but not quite as good as demo discs like the Sony Test Disc.
@@gutsysquirrel3283 "River Runs Through It" it's the best looking movie IMO. It's however unfortunately the most boring movie released on Hi-Vision LD :-(
Watching this video on a lower end 55" 4K Vizio. I greatly preferred the THX clips. The colors on the muse version are far too washed out and there are too many artefacts.

We need more hi-vision reviews! 😌
Great video - looking forward to the next one :)
The first squeeze looks more like the film should look, it's more like a print with the correct colour timing

@@ynot7628 Would you be willing to upload a full direct video capture of the Sony Test Disc?
@@ynot7628 Movies are shot in 24fps. 60fps gives them an unnatural look.

I have been so busy lately so I have completely forgotten about this. But I will try to get at least one new review out per months

Hi! Can you do the sony test disc? I also wondering how i can get it
1080i or 1035i???
😍❤
The capture of the muse disc is way too washed out.
I'm in the middle of recapping my MUSE decoder in a hope it will improve the quality. lets see.
The washed out bars of the Muse discs would take me right out of the film.

Muse Version looks better.
