I just installed a standard V-belt, but it has a flat side that rides against the drive pulley. I already had this belt so I am going to give it a try, but there are aftermarket belts with the double v or double angle designed to fit the drive pulley as well as the blade spindles.
First computer building and now, mechanics? Fred can do anything. I had to replace my spindles on my John Deere mower after an unfortunate encounter with an invincible stump. Parts were cheap and it was rather easy compared to a lot of other work I've done. It seems most people are afraid to do mechanics and would rather just pay someone else to do the dirty work. But that's the fun part. I love taking something broken and driving it for the first time.
Are the belts 37 degree or 40 degree belts? JD uses 37 degrees on all their pulleys (at least on mowers) and unless an OEM belt is specific to that angle they tend not to last too long. But thanks, the video was very informative, and I will be replacing my belt soon.
I'm not certain about the specific angle. I can share that this belt has been working for me on 8 acres since the video posted and no issues so far. If it fails prematurely, I'll post an update for sure.
I’ve not had any good luck with aftermarket belts on mower decks. Hopefully it will last. Thanks Fred!
There is definitely a broad range of providers. I'll update my opinion after it's eventually failed.
I bought a new mower last year. When I bought it , I took a bunch of pictures of the deck so I would know how to put the belt on.
Very smart! When I bought this mower and tractor, I didn't own a cell phone :)

I have to say that I'm always happy when it works after I've done something :)
"Cheap" the only thing cheap at a JD is their help, as in worthless!
nice work,but can you cook....😊
Just did mine a week ago
How long did the previous belt last?
Very good , learn something everyday 😂, you never know I might just walk up the road and buy a John Deere one day when we own land 😀
Well, I'm glad you'll be ready in the event that occurs :)

did your drive case pulley end up with flat side of belt instead of v?
This belt didn't have a flat side.
They seem to make great profit from the consumables..
What size of belt did you use
The link is in the video description... do you mean the length? If you follow the link, there are better descriptions of the actual belt.
Heilà Mister Frederik 🤩🤩🤩🤩
The more you know the less you mow!
A B S O L U T E L Y... as the song goes... Let It Grow!
@@FrederickDunn I think I only mowed 3 times so far and only certain areas of the yard the rest is for the bees
Deck the belts with blades a spinning 😅
