Who would imagine ,to have all the instrument on keyboards AND computer programes so realistics ,,,so you can sit AND enjoy making músic by yourself without other people ,AND actually make a hit 🙏👍👍
How much I love this, even though it's not my favourite making stuff digitally but the freedom and independence it offers is bar none. The best way to make music in my opinion is by yourself, no interference, no disturbance, no distractions.
That's a shockingly realistic plugin, Orange Tree. I've never heard sample based plugins pitch bend so convincingly (E.g. Kontakt's Factory Selection Jazz Guitar). I have three question for you. Are Orange Tree samples' plugins compatible with MPE controllers like the LinnStrument and Roli Seaboards? If so, What pitch bend range do you recommend using? And who makes that pitch box? I've never seen one of those. Thanks in advance.
I was thinking the same, that something like this pitch and mod wheel device would’ve already been on the market but to my surprise it didn’t exist until now lol, In my quest to find a midi keyboard it was either the key bed or pitch wheel that wasn’t right, I just returned the Komplete kontrol mk2 61 due to the big sluggish pitch wheel NI put on it. This is definitely a need in the Keyboard market... many people will buy a decent stage piano just for the key bed but most sub $1000 stage pianos don’t have pitch and mod. Would love to see a Orange Tree Samples take on it or maybe how it’s done! Dope video... I have all your Evolution libraries and this is helping.. learning a lot thanks again!
So that's how it's done! Stupid Komplete Kontrol touch "wheels". I am terrible at trying to play guitar licks with bends to target notes. I think NI is going back to real wheels now? Figures. It's the only thing I don't like about my S88. Great tips. Look forward to more videos.
Yes, no magic !! and much better than the usual Roland / Korg Joystick. i don't understand company who want to use something else than the usual modwheel and pitchbend ! what's perfect added to this would be as well a CC 16/17 (X/Y) joystick (and NOT a touch pad !).
sir you need to sell the pitch and mod box hell i will buy it cause i have big 88 key digital piano if i can use that as a midi device and i have a pitch and mod box i don't have to buy a 2nd keyboard. so if u should sell this
I've been searching for one for years, too. I really thought something like that would exist for the digital piano sort of keyboards that don't have pitch/mod wheels. So I ended up building my own. It's laser cut from acrylic, and powered by a Teensyduino. I just used Akai wheels because those are readily available as replacement parts. That's something you could definitely 3D print instead. I need to make a few alterations to the enclosure--I want to use finger joints (potentially with screws for easy assembly/disassembly) instead of the current model that uses acrylic glue. Acrylic glue is really strong, but finger joints would make everything fit together much tighter. I could definitely share the plans and code for this if anybody wants to build their own.
Hi greg ! i'm definitively interested , i write to you in private through orangetreesamples.com via my account immediatly. I "hired" a friend of mine, expert in electronic to build one for me, as like you, i never found such a box (i have a real acoustic piano as a master keyboard controler with a optical midi interface, i had to sold my motif 8 in the past), so no pitch/modwheel. and my small nanokey2 well, is a piece of crap and has on/off pitchbend/modwheel. I'm trying to buy an "ok" 49 keys keyboard since month to work on my desk as i have hands issues, i can't play very often on the piano, and record some stuff, but the one i'll buy (IK irig keys i/o) has only tactil pitch/modwheel :( (Why Why !!! lol). if you would be ok to share the plans and code, i could ask my friend to build it for me because he never had the time to finish the box ! he used 3d print etc ... but had some difficulties with the electronic, and he's too busy with his actual life, so never finished it. Thank you !
Great playing! I was wondering , do you have your pitch wheel set to reach two semitones up (a whole tone) and two semitones down from the midpoint of the wheel? I'm use to doing my bending on a minimoog and that's how I do it because I don't have to worry about hitting my target note on the money when I'm bending up or down. I can't reach the three semitone bends, but I find that almost all of my use falls within two semitones or less. I just bought an Arturia MK2 controller so I'm going to have to make some adjustments. I'm definitely thinking about picking up the Orange Tree Rock Standard package - sounds great.
Does the free Kontakt version allow you to bend notes via pitch wheel upwards and downwards a freely adjustable amount of semitones - for example 2 semitones in order to bend one note towards the next note?
Yes, you can change the bend range in the Evolution guitar libraries in the SETUP section of the interface. There are separately controllable ranges for the downward and upward bends, too.
I have been looking for a "pitch-wheel box" which uses the Roland Mod-wheel/Pitch-bend *joystick*. Does anyone know of one? I've used Roland or Korg controllers since 1979 and the wheels on the Native S88 just don't feel right after all these years. (And yes, the Orange Tree guitars can sound very, very realistic) Thanks in advance friends!
Thank you so much for the great tutorial! I've been trying to "draw in" pitch bends using pitch wheel events on my DAW (Sonar). The results came out sounding very artificial (like a computer bending notes), whereas your playing is, IMO, indistinguishable from a real guitarist. I'm now trying your method and the results are so much better already! So, here's a question for really anyone here. When I play the notes, there's just a split second of latency between the time I hit the note and the time the signal passes through Sonar, into Kontakt Player / Strawberry, and generates a note. Is there a setting I can change somewhere to make the tones react precisely when I hit the notes (like in your video), or do I just need a more powerful computer? I currently have a Windows Core i5-4460, 3.2 GHz CPU, and 12 GB of RAM. Thanks again! -- Joel
If you can reduce the audio buffer size and it still plays smoothly, definitely. I have mine set to 256 samples. With a tune that uses a lot of tracks and plugins, I might bump it up to 512 samples. Usually at that point all the MIDI recording is done, so when tweaking the mix you can get away with higher latency.
very stupid LFO vibrato. You must record live fret vibrato, or emulate the fret/string noise when make real vibrato to put to this emulate syntheziter vibrato

you are a great keyboardist!
Love it! You still gotta be really good at the piano for this to work though.
It's so real! Wow...!
Awesome love the way you play this instrument

hands downs the best "all in one" electric guitar libraries from Orange Tree Samples !!!
Holy fucking shit
wow that was pretty cool
So cool you do that! But how to use and play Muted Power Chords with this guitar? There is only Power Chords articulation.
Thanks for share your skills with the wheels!! very nice technique!
Dude, this was so helpful, you don't even know. Thanks and God bless you!

what brand is your pitch bend mod wheel box? I wanna buy one please

If only TouchOSC had a "Snap-Back to Zero Upon Release" fader! At least, Greg, you weren't "totally showing-off". See what you've started, now?
My keyboard joystick is broken, would be great if you share the plans to build my own too.:)

Hi, the interface of my plugin does not have keyboard on the bottom. How do I view it?
Great hints !

@@OrangeTreeSamples Thanks for the fast response.
So, you can set it within the VSTi itself.

Amazing! How do you make the "harmonic" sound in the middle of your execution?
You can set harmonics to be triggered by velocity, so hitting the key harder/faster has it play the harmonics.
Awesome tutorial, thanks a lot! :)
Awesome thank you
...spectacular!
how do I edit the automation of the pitch wheal in ableton live 10 ?
download pitch bend dial
does this work in ableton ?
Is this a free vst?
How to you manually change pitch wheel midi data, say, if you already have your notes laid out in your track?

What is your audio buffer size set to in your audio interface?
My buffer size is set to "1323 samples / 30.0 msec". Should I experiment with bringing that number down for faster responsiveness?

my pitch bend wheel on the midi only goes up to 200 how do i fix that???
What do you use for your amp and tone sounds on the libraries?
try out neural dsp
Anyone can help me how to play same tone using midi keyboard with garage band ?
i think what is missing in these evolution engines are the feedback effects that we all love in electric distorted guitars ...
you can add simulated feedback in the daw of your choice, logic pro has plenty of options as well as some others!
OMG!!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🔥🔥🔥🔥
lol dude. you're KILLING!
I hope this wheel box is provided with the keyboard !!

FYI, you may be able to get these awesome samples for 60% off! Go to Orangetreesamples by July 12, 2018!
