And he looks nothing like him. It works both ways. People who are not used to seeing certain race will assume the few the see looked very similar because of a certain feature. As an asian, I had very hard time differentiating the white guys form the old Gatsby movie (you know the Ralph Lauren one) simply because they were all wearing very similar suits and hats. But it happens again when i watch some Japanese movie and if there are more than 1 long straight-hair women, I can’t tell the difference. As an asian, I had very hard time differentiating the white guys form the old Gatsby movie (you know the Ralph Lauren one) simply because they were all wearing very similar suits and hats. But it happens again when i watch some Japanese movie and if there are more than 1 long straight-hair women, I can’t tell the difference. Same as whenever i see some k-pop stars unless they have a real distinctive face. So i guess it’s a cultural thing rather than a race thing? If they have similar “styles” per se, they look alike?

As you probably already know, the word "Asia", used casually, would usually mean South East Asia. And for historical and genetical reasons, many Chinese, Corean and Japanese people actually look fairly similar, even to themselfs. I have heard this personally from a few of them, studying or living here in Sweden.

My case is different, i can pretty easily differentiate ppls whether they're from east asia,asia,western,anywhere..! I think..maybe it's because i watch lots of movies on different languages..English,korean,spanish ,italian,french,indian languages,chinese,etc.(cuz i love exploring cultures,& evrything) So,i get used to the difference of appearance gradually..(sry if my english has mistks..im still learning :) I'm a indian btw

I have never understood why some people thinks east asians look a like or africans look a like, sure there are some that does, but it is like that no matter what part of the world you descent from.
cause many white people back in the day never saw real asians or blacks. most of us asians have black hair and black eyes and blacks have dark skin and black hair. it's a stereotype that whites started and it became the normal thing to say. such is our racist american history.
it's ok though, it's 2015. we're slowly moving forward. i suspect that by the time my kids are my age, they will have to face this kind of BS less and less. at least lets hope.

The thing is that pretty well all asian people have the same skin tone, hair color, and eye color. White people on the other hand have a wide variety of hair and eye color, and skin tones. So it's not racist to say that they are harder to tell apart.
