The Forgotten Crucial D-Day Battle - The Battle of Graignes

One of the worst mis drops that occurred on the 6th of June 1944 was that of some of the men of the 3rd Battalion 507th PIR of the 82nd Airborne. The men landed 18 miles south east of their intended drop zone near the village of Graignes.
In the coming days the men held off a vastly superior German force until they where forced to pull back.
What occurred after was horrific, and was one of numerous war crimes committed by the Waffen SS in Normandy.

Nice video about a battle I've never heard of. That was a tactical decision to stay and fight and certainly sounds like it prevented Carentan being much costlier. Well done dad for finding this one.
