    Great tip on removing the excluder for winter. I'm glad yo mentioned this, as I would have made the mistake of leaving it in place for the winter!

    Did you notice your Queen at 4:42 ? She was right under your hive tool haha. Nice hives, In Ontario i'm looking at a palm size of brood or none at all now.. the Hives are at 9.5 frames of honey though so they are about ready for winter here.

      He just jokes in the videos. 🤣 He's actually an amazing cook especially with grilled steak and chicken which he makes for dinner a lot. He might not want to admit it but he helps a ton around the house. We're a team. He's pretty awesome. 😍 Hehe

      Laurel Reynolds, that’s what I figured. My wife and I are too! Although, she won’t help with my few bee hives but she will help me extract, bottle and clean up from our little honey harvest. Thanks Laurel for letting the truth be known!

    The lantern fly hit my area this season. The honeydoo tainted the goldenrod honey but it's tolerable. It also fed the bees through the usual July - August dearth.

    Hi Kamon, at about 4:49 you have some brood in the middle of the frame are no longer capped. Are these mature and emerging? The reason I ask is because I have seen some in my hives that are not completely matured but are uncapped and seem dead. Any ideas on what that could be?

    Love your videos. Question: Why do you only put 9 frames in a 10 frame box? Is that for ease of inspection or some other reason?

  • @fuzzy927
    @fuzzy927 4 года назад

    Thank you for all the nice informative videos you post. I really enjoy them. My 2 hives are doing great...3 deep....and surprisingly they got honey bound. As I installed them this year I do not have comb resources and added one frame of BetterComb to give the Queen room to lay eggs. The bees took it right away. Formic Pro is in the works and after the treatment I will do a full inspection before the cold fall weather kicks in here in the PNW. My question is how do you deal with colonies that are honey bound in the fall? Keep up the good work.

    Thanks Kamon and Laurel, last week I expanded a 8 frame that was busting into a 10 frame apimaye. Not much drawn super comb. Should I just keep feeding them sugar syrup? Thanks, Go Dawgs!!

    Have you heard of the MIGHTY MITE heat treatment for the varroa mite? No pesticides, kills 100% of the mite population. The only mites that survive are the mites on the bees outside of the hive during the treatment. This method of mite control is being used more and more in Europe - according to my research, which, since I am not a bee keeper means little, but.... Anyway, I thought it was interesting.
    Links to 2 bee keeping clubs that rent out the system to their members.
