    Fantastic. Lorre-Mill machines are the most exciting synths I've come across in forever and your videos are so good!

    Honestly one of the best overviews of a synth on the Tube. I’ve watched this at least 5 times over the months now but thankfully I actually get to try one tomorrow ❤️ Thank You 👏

      I’d really love to hear and see you do some jam sessions with the Double Knot and/or Keyed Mosstone. Unfortunately they’re currently a bit outside of my budget, but they’re totally bookmarked high on the wishlist! That 3-bit keyboard is ingenious! I might just DIY something like this to control my modular synth :D

    • @alliewayaudio9108

      For sure! My next video is going to be several independent freeform jams using the Double Knot and Mosstone, with a couple of Solo Mosstone patches sprinkled in to show it's independent range!
      Yeah, they are a bit of pricey but very worth it - their build quality is great for a single-person producer, and they are designed with brilliant intention and play-ability - I get lost in my Knotted-Moss every time I play them ^_^
      And yes, the 3-bit keyboard is SUPER intuitive and fun - I just retuned mine to an 8-note micro-tonal scale, and the results are quite lovely - so many possibilities, especially with the high and low bars. If you're looking to DIY one, check out the Mosstone manual - it has some pretty watercolors of the circuits used, and might help you make your own keyboard.
      Thanks again for the awesome feedback, I really am a big fan and am really glad you enjoy my stuff :)

      Wow! That manual really goes quite deep into the circuitry. Awesome! Thanks for that tip. I already ordered some DIY components, but luckily my idea of how to build a keyboard like this wasn’t far off.
      I’m sure the instruments are worth the price. I really like this boutique synth scene, where there are still so many fresh ideas!
      Looking forward to your jams :)

      No problem! And yeah, I admire how open Will is with his circuits - Ciat-Lonbarde instruments are the same way, very educational ^_^

    Very well done! I just learned of Lorre-Mill and purchased a Mosstone a couple of weeks ago. I ordered a Double Knot V2 yesterday. I was wondering if you could quickly explain a simple method of tuning with the trimpots and if its possible to do so without a 1v/oct source. Thanks so much for your incredible video, i thoroughly enjoyed it.

    That was a really good tutorial thank you so much for making this!
    I was wondering if you can change the root note, and how do you do that
    so I can change keys for a song
    also could I use the keyboard with it's functions for another synth?

    • @alliewayaudio9108
      @alliewayaudio9108  5 лет назад +1

      Sorry for the slow response - I'm glad you liked the video!
      So I'm not sure what you mean by root note - you can transpose the Mosstone in several ways, either with the eurorack-comptible volt-per-octave input on the back (which works as a transpose for whatever you're playing/sequencing on the keyboard), or either of the two bananajack pitch inputs in the top left. This will shift all pitches up by a certain amount, though it won't modulate the key, if that's what you're trying to do (which I think it is!).
      And yes, you can use the mosstone's keyboard interface with other banana jack synths - the bottom left hand corner has a trigger output for whenever one of the circles is touched, and a pitch output (though it is very wide-ranging since it's for modulation, you'd need an attenuator to bring the levels down for pitch). Though this output does not account for the top and bottom bars, there's also the bottom bar output which you could use for further control. The randoms you could also use just as you would with the Mosstone. Hope this helps! :)

      Allieway Audio there was rush on response :), I purchased one and am learning to use it, yes I meant modulate the key.Thank you for all the info it makes it a lot easier to understand the instrument, please make more videos off any insights or patch ideas

    • @alliewayaudio9108
      @alliewayaudio9108  5 лет назад

      @@dreamcometmusic1946 Congrats on the new mosstone! Yeah, for "key modulation" the best thing to do is change the data you are inputting into the key inputs, in conjunction with transposition. It's not technically key modulation, but it'll get you to different places :)
      I definitely plan on making more videos on the mosstone in the future, especially how it interfaces with other gear - stay tuned :D

    Awesome video! My circles won't respond to touch when I have a patch cable plugged in, even if the cable isn't going anywhere. Do you know if the gold plated versions have a different firmware running in them? I should probably just bug Will, but yes. Thank you for making such in-depth videos! They always give me new ideas and ways of thinking about the instruments.

    • @alliewayaudio9108
      @alliewayaudio9108  5 лет назад +1

      Hey, thanks for commenting, I like your videos too :D
      Will didn't mention any firmware changes in the gold plated version, but it could have to do with how they're wired (hardware rather than firmware). I'd reach out to will and ask if there's a mod/update that can be done. Sorry, wish I had more info than that >.<
      And I agree, I love the Lorre-Mill philosophy a lot, minimal but encourages thinking outside the box :D

    Why can't you plug negative voltages into the Mosstone?

    • @alliewayaudio9108
      @alliewayaudio9108  5 лет назад +3

      The circuitry was not designed to anticipate negative voltages, so it would cause the circuits to act unpredictably, and potentially break. All Lorre-Mill gear uses a voltage range between 0v and +8v. It's actually not the only modular format to not accept negative voltages - there are even some eurorack modules that aren't built for negatives. You still have plenty of control range though, IMO :)
