Jala Pyaakha ( Harisiddi Dance) elaborates about the epic war Ramayana. It's said that this dance used to held for 3 month starting from Yomari Purnima to Faagu Purnima but with time this changed. It was restarted again during Malla period , after it was stopped for a long time.
This Dance shows a lot of thing that aren't included in modern Ramayana , or the Ramayana that we read today.
The oldest Ramayana found in the world are written in Pandu Lipi , and second one is in Nepalbhasa ( not sure about script).
Thanks (Subhaye) for using the native names for Jala: (Harisiddhi) and Jala: Pyaakha'n (Pyaakha'n meaning dance) and Jala:mi (mi meaning people) - much appreciated. Jwajalapa
We hope the pronunciation was correct. Apologies if it was off. Can be quite difficult for a non native speaker. Please do share and let others know about this amazing culture of Nepal! Thank you.
@@tkpmoversandshakers the pronunciation was almost perfect, except for जल: प्याखं :) Shared already. Thanks again.
There's also a sad side to the rich culture of Jala:, whereby some of the Guthi lands were acquired for Harisiddhi Bricks Factory but now occupied against local opposition for other purposes while the Factory is already shut down.
Thank You VMAG . Really appreciated by showing my home town.
Hi mate, it's not just oldest dance. It's the first mask dance of Nepal, or may be of the whole Asia.
There is a small correction you need to make on this video and script: the priest's of the harisiddhi shows this mask dance thrice a year on yomari puñhi(the day we make yomari at our home), dashaiñ(dashain) and on fagu puñhi(the day when we celebrate Lord Pralhad killed the devil Holika).
The word Harisiddhi is by mistakenly used. Actually, it should be Hara (Shiva) and Siddhi (Parbati) or Harasiddhi which indicates a half of body is Shiva and the remaining half is Parbati or the attribute of ShivaParbati.
