    the problem i'm having with this is that you don't specify which machine you are saving/creating certificate on. am i doing this all locally or on the server???

    I know I am a bit late to the party but ...
    Rather than closing all the instances of chrome, you can turn off the "continue running in background" option in the settings (all the way down, in advanced settings). Then when you close chrome, it stops everything automatically.

    Can anyone recommend a video on how to set up a cert in production environments? How can I avoid this manual step?

    it's only for my PC or All over world ????

    • @MrGoMario
      @MrGoMario 7 месяцев назад

      Only for your PC. You'll have to add the certificate on each and every device!!!

    If I import my own SSL certificate on my computer. When others try to visit my site, they will obviously face the SSL error. So what's the use of just creating a self-signed SSL certificate.
    Please answer my question because I'm not that much knowledgeable to SSL but got interested since Google said that they give the most priority to HTTPS sites because they are trusted.

      +Bright Joe Self Signed is often for testing purposes (Local development, QA Servers, Development servers, Staging Servers...), not for Production.

      Ohh, thanks for the answer bro! I was confused because I read in a blog that we can use our own Self-signed SSL certificates on our websites. I thought there might be some ways of verifying the domain.
      By the ways, thanks a lot bro! :)

      Bright Joe The Self Signed would still encrypt like any normal Certificate, but there will always be an ugly X in the Browser, because you must be a "Trusted Certificate Authority" to issue a trusted cert with no X. It's actually very old fashion in that a 3rd party is basically verifying your identity in order to issue you a certificate. They are vouching for you, but you can't vouch for your self and be trust worthy :-).

      Yeah, so it's dangerous to use self-signed SSL in your website. Everyone will run away in the first visit! xD! I'll try StartCOM SSL which is free. That works absolutely fine for personal blogs.
      Thanks CodeCowboyOrg, I'll subscribe! :D

      I'm developing a web app which will be used only by companies that have to register before and get their credentials for using the app. I'm trying to say that the site will not be for "everyone" because they would get that ugly error and run away.
      If I create a self signed certificate and install it on the user's computer(trusted root certificates) so that they don't get errors, will that make any sense? Will I get any benefit over using http protocol?
      I would appreciate any advice.
      Thanks.
