I just unboxed my unit, read all the instructions and prepped the carpet...i got about 10 square feet shampooed and the suction kindof popped and the rollers stopped. I checked and cleaned everything and finally the rollers came on...for 2 or 3 seconds before the pop sounded again and again rollers stopped. I cannot believe hoover sells this. Ill try the side jostle, and check inside the hose port, but even if it decides to work again it is going back to hoover with a seriously harsh letter! Like they will care...but itll make me feel better!
At least with the smart wash it looks easy to clean, get to the brushes. I have a dual power max, and it is a two hour job just to get the brushes. You have to unscrew the entire thing, remove the belts ect and then start cleaning what you can reach. Then put everything back together again. When it started smoking, I stopped using it and bought a Bissell. Takes five minutes to clean.
Did you fumble with it with all the parts on and off? My rollers are running great, but suction is nothing like it was when I first got it. I lent it out to my family and they said everything was working fine. 😢
I’m having high suction from the top hole that feeds into the dirty water tank (near the motor) and then zero suction from the hose feed at the head of the vaccuum 😫 I’ve tried everything in your video but still no luck. Any ideas? Also - great video, best troubleshooting I’ve seen thus far for this unit!
So mine is working in the same condition minus the burnt plastic but as far as the "release valve" goes, you just turned it over and it popped open. So that is great for your machine but if I turn mine over the release valve does not "pop open" Ummmmm do you know how to deal with" the release valve" if one is not so lucky to just happen to "pop open" when you lay it on the.side ? Thanks
I just took apart another Hoover power dash pet cleaner. It's the 6th carpet cleaner I've brought in the last 5 yrs ( 3 Hoovers 2 Bissell & 1 Eureka )...it's because of the belt, it just gets stuck an clogged an the brush stops spinning then I smell burned rubber even though I clean it inside an out but this last one I fixed an now the 2 top screws are striped an now I'm trying to figure it out by placing those plastic strip things over it but if I don't find it at dollar tree im pretty much over it an I'll have to buy another one .. but I'm a female I had one screw driver ( my daddy tools were stolen from me by siblings who don't fix 💩 after he passed 😑😡) an I was able to take it apart an out it back so anyone can absolutely do this... I also learned how at RUclips University like everyone else 👌🏽😆😩
I watched your part 1 and now this part 2. As I mentioned in your part 1, I continuously clean out the pet hair from the rollers and the filters and rinse the rollers off. I have used this machine a lot in the 6 months I've owned it. I take great care of the cleaning but after I shampooed my carpets I started the rinse cycle (which is done by removing the "solution tank" and filling your clean water tank) then you can proceed to just rinsing only by moving it back and forth. I have done this several times in the past, however today the machine started making a loud noise and smoke came out of the motor. I've checked all the components that you have shown in your videos. Do you have any idea how to get to the motor in the back to see if perhaps maybe there is pet hair in there and that is what is making my motor work overtime? My rollers are clean and the bearings are amazing and they spin freely and every outlet is and continues to be cleaned out as I use it. I appreciate any advise. I'm going to call Hoover soon to see if they can help me. I spent good money on Amazon for this and I love it besides the current motor issue blowing out black smoke out of the blue so to speak.
@@VacLab Man....thank you for your quick reply. This stinks! I keep it cleaned out even before that float reaches the top by cleaning the rollers and rinsing out that dirty water tank. 6 monhts is not a long time to considering the $300.00 on Amazon that I did. No I did not register it for a warranty unfortanutely. I'm going to take it to a local Hoover repair shop where I live in Indianapolis for them to take a quick look but I bet you are right it's going to be trash. Do you have any recommendations on what to do prevent this especially for a consumer like myself that makes sure it stays clean while in use. Then "BOOM" the motor starts blowing out black smoke??
@@VacLab Absolutely, I vacuum 2-3 times a week because of the fact that I have a cat that has long thick hair. I have a vacuum that has a plastic canister container. Once I am done I dump out the plastic canister, also I remove the under filter canister and empty it as well. I take out the foam filters, pull all the debris off of them and rinse them and let them air dry and put the vacuum back together after everything is dry. Then I store away my vacuum. I have had this Eureka canister vacuum cleaner for 8 years (because I take care care of it). I have it on the lowest carpet setting so it sucks out all the cat hair and other debris in my carpet. Somteims I have to vacuum twice to ensure I get all the carpets cleaned as much as a vacuum can do. I watched your video of the link you shared. thank you for that. :) I would never shampoo a carpet with any kind of known debris as that would be defeating the purpose. :) I took my Hoover smart wash to a local place in Indianapolis, IN today and they took it apart and didn't see any clogs at all. They just said at one point the motor once they took the motor out has received a condensation of moisture and it seized it. It was just a tiny bit of rust in there and it caused it to start making grinding noises. I will be contacting Amazon and go from there since they were the seller of the actual shampooer. It wasn't a 2nd hand seller on Amazon.com. thank you for your help, your videos are great!
I was searching for the cause of my Hoover Smartwash not putting water out. I did not find the answer anywhere in several videos. So I decided to figure it out by myself. Easy enough to find that the holes were clogged in the sprayer part that snaps onto the front and where you can see the water going out then being sucked up. Could you please post another video showing this issue and the answer? I used a paper clip that I straightened to clean the holes.
That would be great! I'm having the same issue of it not dispensing water. Been searching and came across this one. I will look at my sprayer part and see if I find a clog there. Thank you!
@@1205HOTGIRL Try using a straightened paper clip to unplug the holes. Poke the paper clip into the holes to clear them so that the water can come out.
I use a wooden skewer to clean the clear head thingy. You might find it a bit easier than using a paper clip. Once you get into a routine it’s quick and easy to do at the same time you empty and refill the tanks. Maintenance is everything with these! These videos are great, Hoover don’t offer too much troubleshooting in the manual. They should include a cleaning/maintenance kit with it I reckon.
For me when the carpet cleaner is in the upright position and I go to turn it on it does not turn on. It only turns on when I hit the handle release button. Then there is no suction.
Mine smells like it’s burning and it’s suddenly super loud . I’ve tried cleaning it and clearing out clogs … any suggestions before I throw it in the dumpster 😭😭?
The part 2. Found another video of yours that gave a time estimate for your family room. Doing some hard research for a carpet cleaner as my 2 month old is growing quick and we have 2 cats, a new pup who can’t control his bladder, and a bunny. Floor is quite bad.
My solution tank on this model leaks from the back once I put the tank into its little holder. How do I fix that. I don’t believe it is the tank itself as it doesn’t leak until it’s placed on the plunger in the place it sits. Help. As I don’t want to purchase a new machine!!!!!
i hate this design for alot of reason 1 small tank 2 belt is a hassle to change 3 motor is prone to seize up 4 all the screws will rust an go to dust an itll fall apart 5 the brush will continue to spin when its not supposed to in upright 6 non stainless ball bearings and 7 water will get in the motor an screw it up
I had trouble from the beginning. It never had any suction. I thought it was me. I tried everything. I bought it and never got a chance to use it right away. So I couldn’t take it back. I used it once with no suction just in my small traffic area 6foot by 20foot. I just got it out again and watched your video and tried what you suggested to no avail. What an expensive piece of junk. Yep I’m pretty aggravated.
I don't like these, I like the older school ones that not only separate each liquid but I like to deep clean therefore like to be able to extra rinse with plain water. This one seems to put down a lot of cleaner, prob not good for pet paws either (the residual cleaning solution) Additionally I barely lifted the brush cover lever & the plastic peg & 2 metal "pins" pins popped out rendering the whole thing useless. Ib been so mad had I paid retail.
I bought one of those. Anything that finicky is a total piece of CRAP. I only had maybe 30 min. no more than an hours run time on mine and it quit working correctly. No clogs whatsoever. Only thing that happened was: the recovery tank got full and it stopped sucking which is what it's supposed to do but, after dumping and cleaning after such short usage it still would NOT WORK CORRECTLY. Only thing that solved the issue of not sucking was just to remove the float. I had to do this because the carpet was already wet. So, IF YOUR CLEANER WILL NOT SUCK WATER AFTER CHECKING FOR CLOGS AND CLEANING, WATCH THE FLOAT, IF IT RISES UP, CLOSES OFF THE PORT AND STARTS BLOWING AIR OUT THE BOTTOM AND WON'T STOP THE ONLY SOLUTION MIGHT BE TO REMOVE YOUR FLOAT.
How about simply placing a warranty claim? No need to type in all caps. Or, return it for a refund if within the return period (typically 30 days). No need to get emotional here. 😃
Mine worked great the first few times I used it. Now it won't suck up the water. I have suction from the hole inside the extraction tank, but no suction from the hole that pulls from the plastic roller cover. Any ideas? Very frustrating.
In the off chance someone has the same issue, finds your video and sees my comments, here's how I fixed with the help of a support agent: clean out the dirty water tank and rinse the filter that's in the corner of the tank. Add 2 cups warm clean water to the dirty water tank. If there's no water in the clean water tank add a couple cups there as well. Secure the tanks back on the unit and run in the upright position for 3 minutes. Then, without turning it off, recline the handle, move it forward to dispense then backwards to suck up what was dispensed. In my case, it worked. Note that the filter did have a very small bit of gunk in it before I rinsed it. Didn't seem like it could have been enough to cause the issue, but maybe...
Clean the machine in between each use and it'll work fine...remove the rollers and let dry after and they will continue to spin. Letting gunk build up it detrimental to the machine...
I thoroughly clean mine after every use. The brushes stopped spinning halfway through cleaning a (short pile) rug today. I vacuum prior to using the smart wash. Your advice sounds great, but it doesn't solve the problem, or prevent it from happening.
What would be your advice be on what to check when water is not being dispensed? I had already checked everything you checked before watching this video. I have only used it less than a handful of times on a 4x3ft flat carpet. Suction works great… but no water/solution comes out when pushing forward. It says wash when going forward and dry when pulling back.
I am waiting on a response for the warranty… it’s been over a year. I would just like to fix it if there was a way, because I moved a bunch stuff to clean the carpets and who knows when I can get it back if they want it repaired. Bissel wanted me to drive 2.5hrs to drop off leaky dirty water tank on a spotbot, no mechanical parts! Just needed one where it was sealed better. By the time I would drop it off for repair and pick it up I could buy a new one for the same price in gas and time. That’s why I would like to try and fix mine.
Where is the lint trap that miraculously cleared itself. I turned my on it’s side and no miracle here. How do we get to it and clean it out. Do you know where it is?
It didn't miraculously clear itself at all. I clearly described the process in the video. Here's a link to part 1: ruclips.net/video/4zei34IEby8/видео.html
@vacLab the process that you said fixed the machine was turning it on its side and giving it a shake and a suction valve opened after doing so. I’ve tried both sides, shaking it on the right side, then left . Still nothing. No clog, but it won’t suck from the hose.
@@shannonw881 Yes I am having the same problem. It's that the bottom suction mode won't kick on so the water receptacle stays 100% dry. The lower sections where the hose plugs in has no suction at all. Turning it on its side is not "clicking" it on, it just won't turn on.
he might say no because he already has one its the turbo scrub and he might get a Bissell revolution to add to his collection with the hoover turbo scrub
@@VacLab I watched both videos and did everything on your video. Thank you for showing me how to remove the brushes. I stuck my fingers thru the tube and even stuck a straw brush thru it and there's no blockage anywhere. What else would you suggest to try? Thank you.
I can attest to this. Dogs here and hair galore. Vacuum well first and then shampoo. You'll still have to clean after every shampooing, but cleaning after every use extends the life of the shampooer.
@@switchftstar7 Yes I called them & they told what to try and it worked they said take it in the garage and fill the water thing and put it on and turn it on and off a few times to see if that works and it did kinda weird to me but it did work good luck with yours and please let me know if it works for you.
Wow you sure are the mechanic. Tipped it on its side and heard a hiss . Have no idea what you did but i will call you when I have a problem with my hoover. meh
I have just used this shampooer a couple of times...Not a year old....Solution tank leaks.....Now, it does not pick up dirty water...Dirty tank is not filing...Concept is good but does not work ....Frustrating
My machine is doing the same thing - won't suck water at all. I've already cleaned any little debris, etc. from everywhere. Is there some way you cleared the clog other than turning the machine on its side and jiggling it? That didn't work for me. I tried the solution another commenter gave about adding water to the dirty water tank and running for 3 minutes, but nothing. There is suction from the hole underneath the dirty water tank, but no suction from the hose areas. It picks up absolutely no water whatsoever. Let me know if I missed something - I hope to hear the satisfying swoosh sound of my clog clearing!
Oh my god. I figured out my issue. I didn’t have the dirty water tank put back together perfectly. Try taking your tank lid off and put back on again. Stupid. Absolutely stupid design.
@@karenburkhart2733 The float on my dirty water tank was not operating properly. It would immediately pop up once suction started, shutting the suction off. We put a small rubber ring around it to weight it down slightly to prevent this. It still floats up when the tank is filling/full, but doesn't automatically pop back up.

Shame on Hoover for using screws that rust... I wonder if this explains why I read so many reviews of belts breaking....possibly because of rusting bearings? I hope people who own these see this video so they know to take the end caps off and dry that tank out....I can't believe they use such cheap parts
Weird video. Explained lots about how the unit worked but no explanation of what the problem was or how to fix it. Other than turn it on its side and slap it.
This is the machine you never hope to own! my is Hoover Smartwash with Red trim. Ill try the side jostle, and check inside the hose port, but even if it decides to work again it is going back to hoover with a seriously harsh letter! Like they will care...but itll make me feel better!
Send it back.
What would you suggest if its leaking through the solution tank when solution tank isnt even seated?
Contact Hoover for service or replacement parts.
I’m have this exact problem now and found your video. I’ve done all you said except my hardware isn’t rusted. Still no suction. Any other ideas??
Nope. Other than to get it serviced.
Very good video
Did you fumble with it with all the parts on and off? My rollers are running great, but suction is nothing like it was when I first got it. I lent it out to my family and they said everything was working fine. 😢
So is it working fine or still low on suction?
I’m having high suction from the top hole that feeds into the dirty water tank (near the motor) and then zero suction from the hose feed at the head of the vaccuum 😫 I’ve tried everything in your video but still no luck. Any ideas?
Also - great video, best troubleshooting I’ve seen thus far for this unit!
The hose connection or hose itself could be the issue.
So mine is working in the same condition minus the burnt plastic but as far as the "release valve" goes, you just turned it over and it popped open. So that is great for your machine but if I turn mine over the release valve does not "pop open"
Ummmmm do you know how to deal with" the release valve" if one is not so lucky to just happen to "pop open" when you lay it on the.side ?
Thanks
Take it apart and clean everything. Good luck. 😁
Have a problem the roller brushes cover clip has come off any ideas need help thanks
If a part is broken, contact Hoover for replacement parts.
If the motor is smoking, the machine is done. If it's still under warranty, get a replacement.
@@DonnelleGriffin you must pre-vacuum thoroughly with a high airflow machine.
ruclips.net/video/By7VwaokT1c/видео.html
My washers brushes just stopped spinning, and I will get right to it, and find those bearings.
Thank you!
Me too I have looked at the whole attachment baby figure it out. They talk about priming it by holding the trigger for 1 minute but it only drips.
@@1205HOTGIRL Try using a straightened paper clip to unplug the holes. Poke the paper clip into the holes to clear them so that the water can come out.
I'm going to try that.
Seems like a switch issue. If under warranty, get it replaced.
Mine smells like it’s burning and it’s suddenly super loud . I’ve tried cleaning it and clearing out clogs … any suggestions before I throw it in the dumpster 😭😭?
If it smells like it's burning, it's most likely dumpster time.
How dry was the carpet after you got here suction to work again?
In this video or Part 1? You can see me pour water on the carpet in Part 2.
Clean all the seals. If under warranty, obtain a new part.
I just brought a hoover pet shampoo er water is not coming out. Please help me 😊
If you just bought it, take it back from where you purchased it.
i hate this design for alot of reason
1 small tank
2 belt is a hassle to change
3 motor is prone to seize up
4 all the screws will rust an go to dust an itll fall apart
5 the brush will continue to spin when its not supposed to in upright
6 non stainless ball bearings and
7 water will get in the motor an screw it up
I had trouble from the beginning.
When you buy a new product, make sure it works as expected within the first few days. If it fails, take it back for a refund.
Those Berings come out.
Did you get warranty service for your issues?
Is it still under warranty?
@@VacLab yep, 5 year limited warranty.
@@karlac34 contact the company and have them fix it. They may have you send it to a service center somewhere.
Going to give this a try if not im heading to get a refund
Clean the machine in between each use and it'll work fine...remove the rollers and let dry after and they will continue to spin. Letting gunk build up it detrimental to the machine...
Do you realize this was a freebie from Facebook Marketplace? The abuse wasn't from me.
I thoroughly clean mine after every use. The brushes stopped spinning halfway through cleaning a (short pile) rug today. I vacuum prior to using the smart wash. Your advice sounds great, but it doesn't solve the problem, or prevent it from happening.
Mine is locked up where the brush roll connects to the machine. Those gears (?) Won't turn on the back brush roll. Not sure what to do
If it's still under warranty, get another one.
Probably a broken drive belt.
Get it serviced/repaired if still under warranty.
@@TheBacardiPrincess sounds like you may have an electrical or mechanical issue and that goes beyond typical home fiddling.
Ok thank you. I thought maybe there could be an area to checkout that I overlooked.
@@TheBacardiPrincess Were you ever able to figure this out? I'm having the same issue and it's so frustrating!
After watching your video, I got the vacumn to suck up the dirty water. I also was unable to find any clogs.
Wonderful!
Hello! Mine won't turn on. What can it be?

They must have had dogs, and didn’t clean the cleaner in between use.
I can attest to this. Dogs here and hair galore. Vacuum well first and then shampoo. You'll still have to clean after every shampooing, but cleaning after every use extends the life of the shampooer.

I have just used this shampooer a couple of times...Not a year old....Solution tank leaks.....Now, it does not pick up dirty water...Dirty tank is not filing...Concept is good but does not work ....Frustrating
Get warranty support involved if your machine isn't working.
Same issue. Did yours ever get fixed?
