    Man, I wasn't a huge fan of Mac Jones originally and thought he relied on the talent around him, but after watching a handful of videos, I think he'll be one heck of a QB at the next level. He throws a really good, catchable ball, and his eye work is absolutely phenomenal.

    People are sleeping on Mac because of preconceived notions.
    But Mac has everything to succeed
    Good not great arm
    Good footwork
    Great pocket presence
    Doesn’t run a lot but when he does he can get you a first down with an open lane
    Good processor
    Good ball placement
    I have him as my QB3, when I see Mac’s ball placement,pocket awareness, and processor I honestly see Brady. I see that as his ceiling sure he doesn’t have a cannon nor will he run a 4.6 but he has the potential to be elite in every category except athleticism. I think he can be great
    Edit: Same comparison , they say great minds think alike 😅
    Another Edit: Not my QB3 but I still stand by everything I said. Mac can be a very good QB in the league...

      He's the most ready and complete QB in the draft IMO, he does so many more of the little things than the other guys, even Lawrence. Best pocket presence/fastest reaction to pressure, fastest progressions, best touch, best accuracy, 1st or 2nd best deep ball (some fools spout the nonsense about him not having a great arm but watching any film quickly disproves that). Literally the only thing he doesn't have is great wheels, but he can give you a 10 yard run here and there; he's not a statue. How many years do non-mobile QBs win the Super Bowl.. people overvalue mobility in QBs anyway. But I guess he doesn't have a 2394873 inch vertical and run a 4.5 so he's the 4th best QB in the draft.. sigh

      @@EB-bl6cc IMO Lawrence and Fields have better ball placement, Wilson and Fields throw the best deep balls, Lawrence has the fastest processing speed, they all have good pocket presence, everyone else can extend plays and have much stronger arms. And he very much can’t get you 10 yards, have you seen him run? 10 yards is like his season total, the guy is a stick in the mud for sure. Vs OSU he ran for the first and got up so awkward like you can tell he’s not built for that. His arm isn’t bad by any means but he can’t sling it like Lawrence, Fields, Wilson, and Lance. And I mean his teammates are the best players in the country so I can see why people discredit his body of work and his game didn’t seem to elevate them, it seemed like they elevated him. Burrow was in the same boat a year ago but he was the best player on his team Mac is top 5 and number 5 on his team. Also Burrow who isn’t a strong arm guy has a much stronger arm, is an athlete, progresses fast, is more accurate, and was overall a better player than Mac has been.

    I watched EVERY SINGLE ONE of your analysis. Absolutely LOVE THEM. I play dynasty superflex fantasy football. QB position is extremely important. In this upcoming NFL draft, we might have perhaps the best QB class since 1983 and 1999. The fantasy community totally are in love with Trey Lance. Why? Because of Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen. Both QBs were extremely raw coming into the NFL. Jackson has the best rushing ability since Michael Vick and Allen has the best arm in 2018 QB class. Allen in college had 50ish% completion and he still did have 50ish% completion in the first two years of NFL career. He finally broke out this year with the addition of Digg as WR. Why people talk so highly about Lance is because of his upside - great rushing ability, great arm, but not accurate. Meanwhile, Mac Jones, perhaps the most accurate QB in this class, is not being looked too highly among the NFL because he doesn't have mobility. That's the challenging question for me - who to draft in my fantasy draft? Mac Jones, a potential Tom Brady clone, or Lance, a potential Josh Allen with better rushing ability.

      Stop comparing him to Brady. Brady isn't the GOAT but damn. Jones is good but not amazing. It's not his non-mobility that people say he's not a top 3 QB, it's the fact that he has 2 Heisman WRs and a Heisman RB. Then throw in Metchie and it's understandable why he isn't looked at as a top 3 or 4 QB in the draft. He might be the sleeper QB of the draft and turn out to be the best in the draft.

    Huge Niners fan here. I don’t question selecting Mac Jones as a QB but I do question the Niners decision to give up 2 future first rounders and a third rounder to move up 9 spots in the draft. I really believe we could’ve moved up to 7 and trade with Detroit for far less since Detroit is short on picks this year and we have a total of 9. I don’t see other QB needy teams like New England, Chicago, or Washington giving up even more than we did to move to #3 with Miami. Just poor management of draft assets.

What are you gonna do if all of your receivers are smothered? Throw the ball away. Why? Because you’re completely in mobile and can’t extend plays or grab yardage at the next level. He’s a great qb but he’s a poor athlete, average arm, slightly above average accuracy, and has decent footwork. He is very accurate and I do think he is worthy of a 1st rd pick even top 20 pick but can he win and be successful in less than perfect situations.
    I have the same criticism about Zach Wilson. Both of they accuracy goes quick under pressure.

    Take their two number twos and move up to get (LT)Alex Leatherwood
    In the third round (C) Landon Dickerson
    In the third round (LB) Dylan Moses
    In the later rounds take (TE) Miller Forestall
    These moves will allow The Panthers to secure more in free agency while being frugal with the salary cap. Say what you will the best comp is Jake Delhomme or possibly Kirk Cousins. If you pounded on the table last year for Tua to be a high first round pick then you better be doing the same for Mac Jones because every available metric says Mac Jones was and is a better QB than Tua. Tua is slightly more athletic but I don't really think it's by that much because Mac Jones is bigger, stronger and has the better arm. Hell, if Mac Jones gets his feet under him more and improves his mechanics he could add a little more power to his throws. Questions about Jones' talent is borderline laughable if you seriously watch football.

    I think Mac improved his decision making as the season went on. When Waddle got injured, he had to take what the defense gave him more often. Two games that showcase that are Arkansas, and the second half of Ohio State. It's where he and Tua differed, because Tua would go for the home run early and often. He should turn out pretty good

    • @Don-md6wn
      @Don-md6wn 3 года назад

      If Tua went for the home run too often, why was his career TD to INT rate at Bama about 10:1? Arkansas played ridiculously deep because Mac had been hitting deep balls in every game, so he spent the whole game throwing underneath. In the second half against Ohio State, Mac was playing without DeVonta and playing with a big lead. Tua would have done the same thing in both situations. He took whatever the defense was giving, whether it was slants and other short throws or deep balls.

    • @andrewbowen2837
      @andrewbowen2837 3 года назад

      @@Don-md6wn I'm not sure what his TD:Int ratio has to do with him not going for home runs? The 2018 Mississippi State, Clemson and Georgia games are examples of him being stumped because the home run plays were taken away. Tua's career at Alabama, especially under Locksley, was the RPO quick slant and vertical throws outside the hashes. Mississippi State, Georgia and Clemson were able to stop both and then put pressure on him, leading to bad performances. Mac, for one, he had Sark at his best and a much better offensive line, but he made more types of throws. He wasn't afraid to check the ball down (shown in this video to not always be a good thing) and he was able to score against every team with a less talented receiving group than Tua had. I pointed out the second half of the Ohio State game because he still led several TD drives without Smith in the game, a testament that he isn't a QB reliant on talent around him. He was producing long TD drives with backups and third strings, none of whom are first round talents. Arkansas likewise took Smith out of the game and didn't give up big pass plays, but Mac still was able to drive the offense down the field.

      @@andrewbowen2837 You'll find no bigger Tua fan than myself but I agree with your analysis. He did struggle a few times against the teams you mentioned. Mac on the other hand played WAY better than I could have anticipated and frankly I thought he outplayed Tua this year. If you recall the stupid media talked about how Jones Heisman chances were dropping after the Ark game because he only threw for ~300 and no TD's. He did not force it into deep safeties trying to keep everything in front of them. Ark did that all year and Jones played it perfectly.

    These are my thoughts;
    straight up I do not buy the arm strength issues with him. Just too many times I've seen him let it rip and throws a bomb. Does he have Matt Stafford 15/10 Arm strength? No. But does he have 9/10 arm strength? Yes, indubitably.
    I don't buy the bull shit where you have to be a Deshaun Watson kind of track athlete to play QB. I've seen way too many QB's that aren't great athletes become great QB's. Brady, Brees, both of the Manning's, Stafford, Rivers, Ryan, and even people like Jared Goff, Alex Smith, Derek Carr, and Justin Herbert (depending on how athletic you think he is).
    Are these things you raise like ball placement and back corner awareness legitimate questions you should press to get answered? Yes. But regardless of if they're an issue or not they're fixable. These are rather small things to fix and those kind of problems fade with age. The saying I once heard was "QB's with 2 as the 1st number of their age tend to make stupid mistakes that the QB's with a 3 as the 1st number of his age won't."
    I don't think Mac Jones will ever be a Deshaun Watson type where he is the best of the best of the best. But do I think he can be and top notch QB? Yes, absolutely.
